Hey, I'm still active. Very active I might say. I found this site and out of curiousity have been checking it out. Some of your complaints I can understand, others I cannot. But all in all this is an intersting site you've got here. Kind of a waste of time, so while you all are wallowing in your business disasters, I'm going to go and make some money and change people's lives. For every single negative thing you have to say about MK, I have something completely positive to say about it. It has changed my life forever and I am forever grateful that my Director gave me this opportunity. And Yes, I know what I'm doing. I've been in this for 5 years and know the in's and the out's. You guys all make this out to be a cult and are the upitomy of ignorance in this world. Oh well. I do my business for me, you don't do it for yourself. Same difference. If you're happy not doing MK, go for it! Congrats. And the reason to slam the company is....what??  You may need to do more research on your part to actually have a valid argument here. Good luck, and I hope you can all come out of your bubble here and get on with your lives. If you have questions for me, actual valid questions, I'll respond, otherwise, good luck in your lives of pity.

I am trying to figure out where the heck you all are coming from? It seems like a lot of you are mis-informed and are taking it out on a company that does do amazing things for women. As if by you not asking enough questions before you were recruited, that you feel you were mis-informed?? I try my very hardest to inform recruits of all their options and how everything works. This is their own business and I do not force inventory upon anyone. I think you are all making such large generalizations here that it does not give cause for any validity or fairness of analyzation.

Perhaps you had a bad experience and I am sorry for that, but a site like this only gives us, who are trying to make a difference in our lives, a bad name. What did WE do to you? You may not like this company for one reason or another, but leave it at that. There shouldn't be this on-going complaining about it. It's fine that you ask questions to each other for how to ship back product, etc. but to just generalistically rant on a company from which the image is formed in your head, is not fair to those who do benefit from a company like this. Sorry you didn't have the chance to.

I said before, I can see where you are coming from, but I just don't want you to ruin it for the rest of us. I looked at that pinktruth.com site and you can't believe everything you read there either. All companies have their flaws, all have their high points. You just fumbled across a flaw. I will give you credit for actually trying to figure out the MK Inc. and all that goes with it. As for my 'mommy', she's dead. But thanks for asking.

A little about me because someone wanted to know:
I have been in MK for 5 years. I am a Team Leader, car driver, about to go into DIQ status. I will make in one year, over double what I make at my full time career job. I started my MK business with a $2,400 order and am not in debt. I paid off my credit card as my director instructed, and it's great. love Mary Kay because it helped me get through some of the toughest moments in my life. A while ago I was diagnosed with severe depression, high anxiety, OCD, an eating disorder, and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. So yeah...that wasn't fun. I wouldn't be standing here alive today if it weren't for the wonderful women I met in my Mary Kay unit. Just keep your eyes open to the fact that there CAN and IS good things about MK as well. Thank you. Good luck girls, sorry your experiences were bad, that really is too bad.

On the contrary, DesignGirl...it sounds like YOU are the one who needs to spend some time on research!


Highly doubt it unless you only make $2.50 an hour in your full-time "career job". But there are those exceptions. But in order to be making anything significant in MK even closely approaching a full-time salary, you'd have to be spending so much time on it you wouldn't have time for a full-time "career job".

Designgirl, if you would like to discuss the research into Multi-level marketing, and why they are scams, let me know. I have plenty of resources for you to check out. (And it's not "upitomy" it's "epitome" sorry that was just bugging me)

Also if you want to discuss why Mary Kay is an MLM, or why most of the recruiting statements that you make about the company are lies, let me know.
Here's afew blatant lies that I can give you some info on:

"We're not MLM - we're dual-marketing"
"our marketing plan is taught at Harvard" <----Biggest LIE EVER
"MK is the number 1 best selling brand" 
"More women make $100k in MK than any other company"
"We have the biggest fleet of corporate cars in the U.S."
"Our free training is equivalent to college-level courses in marketing and sales" <----LOAD OF CRAP
"The average profits from a skin care class are [insert ridiculous number here]"
"You can make executive income working 30-40 hours per week" <-----Load of CRAP
"The average director's income is $50,000" <-----TOTAL LIE

So....let's talk.

DesignGirl- I try to be an objective individual, but it burns my cookies when people come and make widespread allegations about a group of people instead of correctly pinpointing the source! You say; "I think you are all making such large generalizations here that it does not give cause for any validity or fairness of analization." But you have done the same thing to us!! I'm glad you've had a good run in MK, but don't ever presume that my life is one of "pity"!! I'm not wallowing in guilt, shame or any other form of regret! I signed up for MK, it didn't work out like the director made it sound -great income! choose when, how and how much you work!- (and before you go there, I did work at it!) It ticks you off to see this site, but you negative smear campaign against all of us pisses me off far more!

MK WORKS FOR YOU!! YIPEE!! This site is there for those who WEREN'T TOLD all of the facts (unlike the great job your director obviously must have done sharing with you as you are here singing her praises). My director DID/DOES frontload (and so did a lot of the directors that the ladies here were affiliated with. It's NOT a generalization- IT HAPPENED TO ME. I SPEAK FROM EXPERIENCE: FRONTLOADING IS AN EVERYDAY AND COMMONPLACE OCCURANCE IN MK. Just because your director and some others don't do it, doesn't mean that all other directors have the same morals! There is more than one bad apple in the bunch (and we have also stated that some just repeat what they were taught by their director/SD/National). They aren't all rotten (but many are.)

We aren't trashing all directors and most of the time, this site is very objective about the topics discussed. Tell me; what threads/posts did you read that helped you to determine that "this is an intersting site you've got here. Kind of a waste of time,.."? Did you read anything that you saw to be true?? The company doesn't release "on trend" products; they lag behind the rest of the industry! They change the product line so often it is laughable and the consultants are left holding the bag with products they hadn't sold before they were discontinued (NOT BECAUSE THEY WEREN"T SELLING THE PRODUCT- BUT BECAUSE THEY WERE UNAWARE THAT IT WAS BEING DISCONTINUED AND WERE STILL ORDERING IT UP TO THE DAY BEFORE THE ANNOUNCEMENT WAS MADE!!) Making money in MK wasn't the problem; it was certain aspects of the business that caused me to sit up and take note!

Many directors (NOTE: I did NOT say all!) ARE dishonest!! WE SPEAK FROM EXPERIENCE, as most of the dishonest ones we discuss were OUR DIRECTORS!! These aren't blind comments being made by novice consultants- we have ladies who were consultants 14+ years, ladies who were Directors, Team Leaders, and Car Drivers. We have some who are still active consultants (and have seen and experienced some of the tactics discussed here on this site yet still choose to be affiliated with MK and we don't slam them for it!) We welcome OBJECTIVE PARTICIANTS AT PINK LIGHTHOUSE. The ladies and gents here may not always agree, but we don't personally or viciously attack/namecall one another either.

Do me a favor; don't post anything else unless you're willing to give a "mea culpa" (my bad/apology) to the participants here and move forward treating everyone here with the RESPECT they deserve!! Skip the "blanket statements" and move on if you don't "get" the site's purpose (which you don't seem to by your remarks) or if it's not for you! This site allows people to see the other side of MK and not all of the comments here are negative (and they definitely aren't mean spirited!) No one forces you to read this, so if it's affecting you negatively, keep on moving to brighter, more sun-drenched fields. I'm so mad I could right now, but remember- IF YOU DON'T GIVE RESPECT, YOU WON"T GET RESPECT!!
