Rockin' and rollin' at the lighthouse!

« on: July 31, 2006, 11:13:26 PM »

I am an active consultant.  I am burned out.  I have a lot of inventory.  I like my customers, they like me, and I don't want to drop them because I appreciate our relationships.  I have a lot of new friends because of my MK business (customers more than other consultants).  Is it possible to stay a consultant, stay active, service customers and just put it all on the back burner?
I like the products... and helping people.  I don't like making sales calls or pushing the 'dream.'

Any suggestions?

I tried to do the "personal use" thing but it got to be more of a hassle than anything else.  When it came time to stay active with the $200 minimum order, I just couldn't see myself ordering $400 worth of inventory for it to just sit around my house.  So, for me, it wasn't worth it.

I know that you received a lot of responses to your other posts so I'm hoping that the advice given there is helping you make your decision.  Don't put so much pressure on yourself to "push the dream".  Keep your current customers, stay active by servicing them, and hopefully your "burned out" feeling will subside.  As long as your director isn't harassing you (like mine was) you should be fine.

By the way, if you do decide to leave MK, I'm sure those friends you made will continue to be your friends.   smiley

I agree with Kathy6464, It is more of a hassle than anything else.

I too was just burned out, I hated making the calls, I either got the answering machine or the answering machine, and there never was a good time to call, everybody always promising their going to order and not.

You can put in your order only once a year and still stay active, so you could just order a couple of products that your customers use and that's it. You should be able to do just that.

Get rid of your inventory that you do not use and will not sell before it gets discontinued or new and improved and then nobody wants it.

The personal use consultant line is such a lie. You are told that you only have to order $200 to stay active, but then every 3 months you are getting a call from your recruiter or director about placing your order to stay active! And that $200 has to be at one time, it's not cummulative. It's very misleading.

If you love the products, it's best to purchase them from a fellow consultant you want to support or purchase from this forum (or other like it) from consultants liquidating their inventory - there are plenty of those!

I sort of got to the same place. I was just tired of hounding people for orders or parties or referrals. . . you can only go back to the same well so many times (something I don't think my director understood). I have decided to work my business just enough to have my $200 every three months (and I was a Star Consultant every quarter since I started). With a base of 30 solid customers, I'll have no problem. And you could easily do that too. With a base of 5 customers you could order your $200 every year, just let your customers know when you order and for them to stock up.

Pondering, I'm active also, and want to be a personal use consultant.  I did just recruit someone else (and am feeling bad about it) won't EVER recruit anyone else into this.  But I'll support this new person as long as she needs it.

I don't think I'll have any problems staying as personal use.  Heck, my family members alone can support a quarterly $200.00 order. smiley

I do have a question however,  isn't there some system where a consultant can change recruiters if she does it within 6 months of signing up?   I'd be happy to have her move to someone who is going to really work this business.  I hope I don't sound like I consider her chattel or anything, I just want to do what's in her best interest.  Any help with this will be appreciated.

I wouldn't worry about it. Because this MK opportunity is such a scam, she'll probably drop out on her own anyway, and soon.
If she ends up just selling the product to some customers or being "personal use", she doesn't need a director or recruiter above her hounding her like crazy to order more than she can sell!

I saw the coolest T-shirt this weekend. Black w/silver lettering. An Obnoxious picture of a trailer...underneath it "Living the Dream" - If I thought I could get away with it, I'd stroll into a meeting with it under my blazer! A hoot!

Hi MPBB - as far as I know, only a National director is able to move consultants from unit to unit. You cannot change your recruiter or have a recruit assigned to someone else. Even if your National moves her to another director's unit, she would still be your recruit (and I'm not sure that she can separate the two of you into two units - but not totally clear on the rules of that, so that might be possible).

One of the goals I hope to attain this month is to have at least 20 classes with at least $200 in sales each because I want to complete the 20/20 Club challenge. The hostess gift, the pink wrap, feels wonderful and the so ever cute floral storage bag, it goes together so wonderfully.

Pink Flower, please go check out a pro-MK site.  We come here to post so we don't have to listen to  pinky talk.  I'm sure you're a wonderful person but I don't think you're understanding that we don't share your enthusiasm for MK.  Just what are you getting from your experience posting and reading here on this forum  ???

I am a consultant.  But I only service my existing customers.  Although I am having an event next month, it will be my last one.  I am trying to get rid of everything, but I don't want to send back my inventory because I want to stay personal use.  After all my products are gone I plan to send a note to my customers with my recruiter's name and number.  I am moving next year so it makes sense to give my customers away than keep them from across the world (moving to Japan).  Believe me between my mom and me we can order $200 a month easily.  My husband uses the TimeWise, although he says that he doesn't, the product in the shower says otherwise.  Plus my mom uses the TimeWise set in about 2 months (she uses it on her chest, just like me).  Women tend to focus on the face but not the chest, which can also start to show your age without care.  I love the MK products but I hate stalking people.

will you be able to order from the company from japan? or will you have to sign up as a new consultant there? just curious- I just can't imagine that the company in USA would ship US MK products  to japan-- but I know they have manufacturing for MK japan, etc in other countries- its just something I was curious about. smiley
