As the mother of a college student.....I would say forget it. If you want to travel w/o your family, find 4 girlfriends and go the the beach. At least it will be REAL girlfriend time. Where will you get the $1000 or so it will cost to go? Wouldn't you rather spend it on something you would really enjoy and being with people you really like? I don't know your story, and I've never been to MK seminar, but I have been to another MLM's convention more than once--I was in my 30's then and I felt too young for the crowd then. I am just trying to picture my college student daughter at something like this......and I can't. She would think, for lack of a better word, that it was totally LAME. I know you asked for opinions from somebody who has been there...I haven't, but as a mother I would say OVER MY DEAD BODY and I don't care if you're over 18 or not!

I went to Seminar 3 years ago- I was 26. I was one of the younger people there but I was super enthusiastic at the time because I had just started my MK business 2 months prior. My director insisted I needed to go (although she didn't go? ) I didn't know a soul but I'm an independent person- so I went. I did all the tours & trainings by myself and sat alone in the arena but kinda looked at it as a growing experience being on my own. The trainings were okay- mostly stuff I had already learned at my NSD's training center, the shows were amazing, the tours were kinda neat-overall I had fun but I knew on the plane home I wouldn't need to go again. It is costly- do you have the extra cash to spend? Yeah, it's a tax right off but it is still alot to front. First you pay registration like $75. Then it was about $275 for my nonstop flight, another $30 or so in cab fares. The hotel was split with 3 other ladies from my unit so it was about $90 total. Luckily I was in a caddy unit so I had most of my meals for free- food was expensive at the convention center and if you went somewhere to eat you had more cab fares. You need at least one formal outfit, 2 if your unit does any kind of awards while in Dallas. You really have to determine how into this business you really are. Are you crazy about it and totally into learning everything you can? Are you completely living & breathing PINK? Or are you really just looking to get away on an adventure? I agree that if you just want a good time away from the fam- go to the beach and live it up!!! It'll cost less and I'm sure you won't ever live to regret it.

I completely agree with mom too. It's a waste of money. You're paying $1000 to continue the brainwashing and rah-rah.
Go to the beach.

I went 3 times (it might have been 4 times - somebody slap me!) mostly because I was a director.
Don't go. You could go to Mexico WAY cheaper and actually have fun. You'll waste a lot of money, you'll room with 3 other women (not of your choosing, so not your fun college buds), you go non-stop and not in a Vegas I'm having too much fun to stop kind of way. This is get up at the butt crack of dawn to take a cold shower (because your 3 roomies beat you to it and there's not hot water left), eat a crap breakfast while you're stuffed in like a cattle car with a few thousand other consultants, wait in line, sit a lot, wait in line, crap lunch (cattle car style), run out in the blazing Dallas heat in your now swollen feat stuffed into closed toe black shoes and pantyhose to visit the vendor tent, spend more money you don't have, come back, wait in line, sit a lot, figure out dinner (which you have to pay for), more training and rah rah after dinner with your area, middle of the night "party" or awards (I used the term party loosely) - it's now 12:30, maybe 1am, trudge up to your room (still in your pumps, btw) - maybe sleep through your roommates storing (or giggling) for 4 or 5 hours, wake up and repeat until awards night, then dress up in a formal outfit, hose again and heels and sit for 5+ HOURS clapping to watch hundreds of women run across the stage for buying the most product (which you'll be watching on a screen unless you also bought the most product) while you listen to the emcee say, "Let's raise the roof for Susie Consultant! Let's get loud for Jenny Consultant. Let's raise the roof for Patsy Consultant." in a monotone voice for 5+ hours. Super fun. It's 12:30 now, sit through cheesy candlelight ceremony, and go BACK to your director's room for more awards crap. Repeat butt crack of dawn routine, breakfast on your own dime for last day, more training or other drivel and figure out how to get all your crap to the airport...
Cha - ching - don't forget to hand over your $800-$1000 bucks for all this. There's more craziness involved, but that's the gist.
I'd say just get out of MK actually, but if you want to take a college trip, call a travel agent and find out some awesome deals for Cancun or something. You'll actually have fun and spend less money. Seminar is not something I'd do just to "legitimize" getting away from your family by yourself. If they need a more legit reason for you to leave than just partying in Cancun, then find an out of town internship or something. Heck, for that, they might even foot the bill. There are programs at other colleges, go be a docent (sp?) or something at an out of town museum - do something that's of interest to you to see if you'd like it for a career, and you're out of town to boot.
Hope that helps!

It's not worth it.
I went. While I enjoyed the alone time and not having to answer to "MOOOOMMMM!!!!" 24 hours a day, I could just have easily gone somewhere else and spent all that money on something that has lasting, POSITIVE effects.
It's just not worth it.

I'm with Baroness (sans some of the expenses since I'm in Texas- near Dallas). Take a real trip. I must have had the REALLY spiked pink Koolaid when I was an active consultant. They really convinced me that Seminar was a "can't miss" experience. faint My DH asked both year that I went, "Why are you paying to stay in a hotel when we live 40 minutes away?" My dumb pink answer? Because we have training and both our unit and area awards night and "girl time" so it's easier for me to stay there instad of being stuck in traffic every morning trying to get to everything (and I wondered why he didn't get it at the time!) Seminar isn't worth what you pay a lot of the time. I always sat in Hall A (wouldn't buy myself into more debt than the initial order and the first year of consistency club.) I felt stupid both awards nights personally. Here we are in Hall A (where we aren't on camera or getting awards) dressed up like it's a prom revival with no dates. WTH?! I was exhausted after last year's awards night! Our director "came to visit us" for a few minutes in Hall A before she and her husband left early because she didn't feel well. Whatever. Take a real trip. Check out Travelocity's Last Minute Deals on their website. You can find a nice, cheap 3-4 day flight and hotel package. Hit the beach, go ski; whatever floats your boat. TRUST me; You do not want to bake in the Texas sun in a black skirt, hose and closed toed shoes for 3 days unless you are required to by federal law (not what your director says!!) OH! My favorite reason to go to Seminar- the free product alone is worth 1/2 of your registration costs!!

I've been to Seminar one time. The summer right after I signed-up with MK. It cost me about $1000 (registration, airfare, hotel, purchases while there, tips, etc.). My Director said that I would learn 'so much'. Well... not really. Sure it was interesting, but not worth the time away from my family and the high cost financially. The factory tour was the most interesting by far, but anyone can take that tour if you set it up ahead of time with MK. The WORST part was that I had to share a hotel room with three other women who didn't know how to shut up and go to sleep!! I don't recommend going... wasting your time and money and sanity! Save your money or go have a good time with some real friends somewhere else!
