LOL! Sick Sick Sick Sick Sick If people are feeling that ill, they should STAY HOME! As to the safety of the personal info on the MK websites, I totally agree. It would be very easy for a stalker to get a woman's home address from her phone number. So that freaks me out - I never really thought about it much before. eek

OMG- I can't believe that poop-lady story- I think I might have thrown up all over so called poop lady- I had some good classes, but I had some doozies as well. I once had a facial w/ a girl I met at a bridal store. First of all, I should have known better, but I tried not to judge and figured that it was her dad and brothers (no mom in the picture) w/ her that were kind of giving her this, well, to be nice, trashy appearance- she obviously had not had a woman in her life- You see, a bridal store let me set up a table w/ a drawing for a basket (and I actually got a very very good customer out of this deal) and this young girl, no makeup, not feminine, there w/ her burly dad and foul-mouthed brother, came back and signed up and talked to me about wanting a facial. First clue: (other than the dad and brother) - when they left w/ the dress, they threw it in the back of their pick-up truck which was, get this, filled with walnuts. Put it back there w/ the walnuts. OMG.
So, she was serious and wanted this facial, so I thought I would just do it- it would be good for her at least to learn about makeup a little, right? I show up to one of the dirtiest houses I've seen, dishes and food everywhere, stinky, just filth. The brother was there, and he was very mean and cussed a lot at the sister. The dad wasn't there, but I found out that the mom in her life was this biker woman who is in jail anyway---to top it all off, they had not a table in the house. Not a coffee table, end table or dining table- I actually had my card table in my trunk still, so I brought it in w/ my folding chair (didn't have to sit in any of their furniture)- I did the facial fast, her brother insulting her the whole time, and left. I knew I wouldn't sell a thing, but I just did it. Poor girl--
I've had other interesting experiences as well, a crazy lady who called the company and made up all of this stuff, when in reality, she just wanted a refund and I gave it to her, but for some reason she thought she had to call and accuse me of all of these things, I actually got a call from the company asking about the ordeal- I called the hostess of the party she'd been at just to figure out what I had done, and the hostess told me "oh, she's just like that, she's kind of crazy and does stuff like this all of the time, sorry!" Thanks a lot for inviting your crazy friend.
Anyway- love these stories. WE need to post lots of these, because this would def. have scared me off from MK if I'd ever have thought about things like this!

On the safety subject - my record lowest sales class in my 3 year history just happened to be in the part of town that is not the safest (lots of gangs, crime, etc.). So I show up at the appointed time to meet my hostess. (We're meeting at her church) And I wait. And wait. And wait. I finally get her to answer her cell phone and she tells me "oh I'm running late"...no kidding. I ended up sitting, in the dark, in my shiny, new vehicle on the wrong side of the tracks for nearly an hour!! I called my husband and told him EXACTLY where I was at...just in case. So she finally shows up. Helps me lug all my junk into the church and I start setting up. Then she tells me that we'll do the class AFTER their women's meeting. What??!?!? ??? So I sat there for ANOTHER hour before they finally all strolled in . By now, it's almost 8:00 p.m. (the class was scheduled for 6:30). We start the class - I was blessed to have a whole group of hecklers, not just one. The end results of the class?? After two hours of catering to their every foundation shade & 15 different lipstick whims, complaints, bunny-trail conversations, etc....was a whopping $8.24. There were 6 women there and ONE bought a lipstick from my discontinued box!!! No bookings. The hostess did ultimately recruit, but then she proceeded to borrow over $250 in product from me, promising to pay it back, and 6 months and a huge whiney, guilt trip later, I finally got the stuff. Gee, thanks. She has now apparently gone off to go to seminary. Whatev!!

I agreed to do a party for a lady I had met for the ladies in her church group. I had to drive over an hour and there were people coming in and going out and a few hecklers that were not participating- just making fun (which I now understand, but still wouldn't do). They wanted to try everything, but noone bought anything. They all had a mk consultant, but she refused to do the party. guess who got the sales?! I had a lady scream at me (not just a little, but on and on...) at one of my first paries, because tw (prior to spf-when it was new) did not have sunscreen, and how could mk be a co. that cares for women if they didn't put spf in their moisturizer. It turns out she had skin cancer. I am glad that I kept my cool and was polite. I told her I would pass on her complaint to corp. and I did- not that they cared what i said. I have had classes with college girls who talk on their cell phones the whole time and then don't buy anything because their mom will buy what they want from their mk lady back home. I did a facial with a bride and she did not buy anything- when I asked when the wedding was- she said in about 4 hrs . I have done classes where many checks bounce and you cannot get ahold of them to get your money. I have also done classes where people bring many children who are tearing up my house and noone but me cares. I did do one waaaaaaayyyyyy out in the country and the entire back acrage was filled with fighting roosters (which is illegal). None of my stories are as horrific as poop-lady, but I think very typical of the whole mk experience.

I once did a class for one of my unit members to help her get started...man o man I'm driving up the street and notice all of these unmarked police cars parked on the street. So I get out of the car and look down the row of houses...there are cops with guns pulled out next to the font doors of at least 4 houses. You guessed it- Drug bust! The hostess' next door neighbor was the target. Turned out okay, but I never did a class in that neighborhood again! SCARY!

well since we're bumped back up with this one...my last class was at the crazy cat lady's house. maybe i should have known better with the directions she gave me when i booked the class...but i live in central FL and honestly there are some very nice mobile home communities around. on the way there i drove through some very nice areas and was quite hopeful...until i turned on the road to cat lady's house i was feeling fairly confident. on this street there were several new units that were obviously moved in with in the last 2 years...so i start thinking this may work out just fine after all...i pulled up to the 'last trailer on the left' and OMG i almost turned around then. i probably would have if they weren't all outside doing what ever it is they were doing. from there the scene went down hill...there had to be at least 20 feral cats outside that scattered as i pulled my car onto the lawn. so i took a deep breath and opened the car door. that was the last fresh breath of air i had for hours!!!!! when i got out of the car the smell of cat/animal feces was over whelming!!!! from there on out it was just one more ewwwwwy moment after another...getting in the front door i thought my rolling bag was going to go THRU the floor it was so soft. there wasn't a table to sit at other then the coffee table...there was only one light in the house and it was a low watt yellow bulb...the house was *anything* but clean...i went to use the restroom while the ladies were getting settled and there were cobwebs from floor to ceiling between the wall and the door and they were covered with dust bunnies!!!!! after i finally got out of there i decided then and there that was the LAST time i was going to someone's house i'd never met.
you know...i've met a lot of people from the internet, including my boyfriend of over a year and a half, and i have *never* just gone to someone's house and not have someone know where i was. the entire time it took to get back to the highway (about 20 mins) i saw more police cars and undesirables then i have seen in *years* i'm pretty sure that ride home was when i made up my mind that it was time to get OUT of the bubble....
thanks jypsi for bumping this up...

I can't believe this. I was reading these threads earlier today. Some made me lol some were just scary. I have never had any experiences this bad. The poop lady story was one of the first stories I read on PC's blog. I 'm sure at the time it was horrible but now it is hysterical. I was reading it out loud to my DH and I couldn't get the words out. Some one should compile a book about all these experiences. You can't even make this stuff up.Thank you ladies I thought I found this site by "accident " but know I know I know it was an intervention.

so many of us have these stories. I mean, we would never in our right minds go to some strangers house in a questionable neighborhood or sit in filth and squalor for an hour. But for some reason, someone puts their name in a fishbowl at the local store and we're right on it. I mean, we were soooo in a pink fog, under the pressure of "sell sell sell" or meet this or that challenge, and that we were "enriching women's lives" with our many bags and our timewise---we were just ignoring our gut instincts! It's a wonder one of us doesn't have a horror story that ends with gunpoint and all of our product and cash being hi-jacked right there at the class! I mean, good night nurse!!

Oh wow, I just thought of a couple of stories.
At one double facial the girl brought her baby. The baby was screaming and wanting to be held. Of course, she picks it up and then she can't put on the cleanser, etc. So I offered to hold the baby so I could just get through and get the heck out. The baby barfed all over me. I cleaned it off, kept smiling and finally got done.
The saddest thing that ever happened was a girl whose name I got from a facial box. I hadn't met her and because of one of those "you HAVE to bring a guest" pushes from my director, I asked her to come to a meeting with me. She didn't have transportation so I offered to pick her up. I got to her trailer and when she walked out I saw she was wearing black eyeliner that was literally 1/4 to 1/2" wide. It was so bizarre.
We were doing makeovers at the meeting that night so, of course, she has to take off her makeup. When she removes the eyeliner I see she has 2 huge black eyes. I was mortified and heartbroken for her. We did a really good coverup job on them and she ended up looking cute. When I took her home her boyfriend was waiting on the porch for her. It makes me sad to think about it now.

OMG! That's horrible, it really breaks my heart to think about things like that. Our unit was always doing these pushes that were supposed to be for charity but then they would sort through the entries and be selective.
The pot thing just amazes me. I had a friend go to do a class with her baby in tow and she walks in and her friend is telling her to put a blanket over the baby and was a little nervous acting. I'm pretty sure it had something to do with the fact that her boyfriend and his buddy had just put out a joint.
I always loved feeling like I was discount Friday night entertainment for some people, so many times that I would be talking and they're just wandering around, carrying on conversation and it's like "oh yeah, I'll just match your foundation from 10 feet, I've been trained".

OMG I have not done a so called 'party' in over 13 years and probably a handful of 'facials' since then. I just find customers from referrals and work who have lost their consultant and then I have my loyal group from my full time MK selling days. I found myself in the 'bad' inner city for awhile because friends live near each other and book from each other. I would only do their classes during the day. I did some very sad parties on a military base where the military wives couldn't buy a thing because hubby wouldn't let them and when one situation seemed to be abusive I never went back to that area. Now with cell phones glued to everyone's ears it seems consultants are really in a battle nowadays. I have to agree with the 'safety issue' never being addressed. I have never heard a Director tell a consultant to watch out being in certain areas or how to protect oneself from danger. Ladies -if you are still doing classes I would say to do a Mapquest search for the address then consult friends & family about the area. If it doesn't sound good -CANCEL! Know that YOUR life is too precious to be put in harms way. I thought I might do facials again when I retire -now- maybe not!

Thanks for sharing everyone!
I never had that bad of an experience, but one party I did was for a group of 5 divorced ladies. The entire time they kept telling me, "Your husband will leave you, they all do." Um. Fun.
