Hello you all!   I had a question for anyone who can enlighten me on this.  Mary Kay Boot camp??  What exactly is it?
My MK lady is going to be out of town...again!  She was out of town last week for a MK event.   finger2(not sure what?)  But she told me this weekend she is going to a MK Boot Camp.  I asked her to repeat it again & she said Boot Camp.  It is put on by MK & this is her third one & she should be done.  I sat on the phone for a minute & said well if it is on MK's dime, to go for it.  I was actually fishing to see if MK paid for it.  She said MK didn't pay for it, but quickly said it was tax-deductible.  She also mentioned she was sharing a room with 4 other MK girls & they would have alot of fun.   Sick    I also could tell with her voice tone, that she was trying to stay positive.  I think she might've not wanted to go & just stay home & relax, because she did sound tired.   (plus she has kids)
So what is "boot camp".  What do the MK consultants do there?  I have heard of the nam Linda Toupin  (not sure on last name & spelling)  What is the point of boot camp?
Also, my MK lady was gone last week, now this weekend, plus at least two meetings every week.  What is the point of all this meeting crap??   I just want to scream  :gah: everytime I call her & say stay your butt at home & chill out!!!    :chill:   :tini: I think she actually needs a drink to mellow out!!
By the way...where did all these smiley's come from??  I looove them!!!  And I can't find this style of smileys on the internet.  They are so much fun!!  Can someone tell me how to obtain them fo my email?   :ty:

Sounds like something our area did, which was called "Retreat." To qualify to go, they always had some big goal you had to meet, like recruit 5 people or do 30 interviews, etc.  You stayed the weekend and listened to lots of "training" by other consultants and directors. Kinda like a mini Seminar.

It's just some event dreamed up by directors to keep consultants motivated and pumped up. We used to have things like "advanced training" and such. There are hundreds of variations on the theme and  MK NEVER pays for it. More money out of the consultant's pocket.

All these meetings and events are the same. Their sole purpose is to keep you motivated, like I said, because sales isn't easy and MLMs like Mary Kay are particularly depressing, especially when you're spending more money than you're making.

Well over here they have a retreat usually on the month of October.  But it's the first time I hear the word "Boot Camp" for MK.  Usually I think it's the same stuff and the consultant have to paid for it and she has to be a least Red Jacket to attend.   :gah:

I know about it! unfortunately.  My directors went to Linda Toupins area (she does this in Kentucky where she lives, I think) and it is just something this National does to train directors.  And yes the directors have to pay for this training.  But I think they get to see her mansion  rofl

And you don't even have to be in her National Area!  How about that!  $$$$$$$ for her!

Ugh.  Retreat.  Career Conference.  Seminar.  Boot Camp.  Whatever you want to call it, makes me want to poke my eyeballs out.

Makes me want to puke.  One thing I remember very clearly that my former DS told me BEFORE I signed... '... and all your training will be free!'  Did everyone's DS tell them that?  That is a flat out lie!  Even our weekly meetings were not free... we each had to pay $4 to cover the rental cost of the room!! :nuke:

My AD was in Linda Toupin's area, so I know a little about it.  She holds 2 boot camps, one for Directors, I think the cost is $200 and they meet 1 weekend a month for intensive training and have homework and goals to meet to attend the next session.  The $200 doesn't include hotel room and food!  Idon't know what their homework or goals were.

I attended the consultant bootcamp 1 time, I believe it was $50 and included lunch and a continental breakfast the next morning (again did not include hotel room and other incidentals)  If it was your first time attending you did not have to meet any goals, but to atend the 2-5th boot camps you had to meet certain goals, like $600 wholesale for the month, 5 classes, 3 interviews, blah, blah , blah

She usually held it in Louisville, KY.  She lives in Floyd's Knob, IN  Occasionally she will have a challenge for consultants to meet over a 6 month period, if you meet all of them you get to visit her home with your SD and have lunch!  The cost was $75 so I don't think that was exactly a prize do you...but as they said it was tax deductible, "when you show up you go up" and "hang with the people who are where you want to be".......Glad I am no longer fogged!!!  Bubble

Boot Camp is a retreat type thing I think.  You have to have sold/front loaded a specific dollar amount (maybe sapphire level???) to qualify and MK does not pay for it.

The one I went to was a weekend long retreat in the N. Ga. mountains and consisted of a series of activities to "push" you to the next level and get you fired up about moving up in MK.

Mostly it's a huge rah-rah session for the unit's "stars".  I have to admit, though, that it was a nice weekend getaway and I had a good time.
