So I got suckered into opening a MK Chase Visa credit card to order inventory -- I plead temporary insanity

Luckily it only had a $500 limit, so I couldn't do too much damage with that one. The other one I opened -- another Chase one at that, had a $1,500 limit *sigh* Fortunately, each card had a 0% APR for 12 months, so I don't feel so bad about carrying a balance and paying it down slowly.
Well, I finally made the decision to get out of MK. I had a checking account that was dedicated MK financials and decided to close the account. There was no real reason to keep it open, especially since it was costing my $6 a month to keep open since there wasn't $500+ in the account. One thing I forgot was that I had that checking account information stored along with my regular checking account, in the payment section on Chase's website. I use my regular checking for my other Visa and generally used MK checking for my MK Visa. I have had this card since July, actually both of them, and have paid more than the minimums on both of them on time every month. I set up a payment for my MK Visa, not even thinking about that closed account -- the payment ended up getting returned and I got hit with a $39 fee. Sucks yea, but it was my fault, so I sucked it up. BUT I turned around and made a payment from my regular checking account before it was due. I typically pay this card massively early, so even with the processing, return payment and reprocessing the payment was still on time by more than a week. End of story...
Not quite. About a week ago I go to make my payment and notice that there is a finance charge . . . to the tune of 29.9% -- GMAFB! Both accounts have been in good standing, I have good credit, and this was my FIRST offense, which I corrected in a very timely manner. I was PISSED. I called Chase customer service and complained. Told them that I currently have two cards with them that have been paid on time, more than minimums, never a problem. She came back and said even a first offense can result in changing the APR/etc and that there was nothing she could do. She was not showing a lower APR option for me and basically I was SOL. I was so ticked off -- I had another Chase credit card about 5 years ago, for like a year and a half, and they pulled almost the same stunt on me. I missed the first payment, because they never sent me the bill -- tough luck. Then about a year later my payment was like a day late and they jacked my rate to 29.9%. My other credit card (GM Mastercard -- LOVE THEM! Awesome customer service!) has a rate of 13.28%, that should tell you something about my credit/payment history . . . I closed my Chase account back then and vowed never to use them again. Then I got involved with MK

talk about insult to injury. Anyways, long story short I told her how unhappy I was with Chase and their customer service. Told her that I will never be using the company again and to close out my account, I was done. So ridiculous! The good news is one credit card paid off tho! Once I get my blue check I'll have another one paid off and no more MK debt!!!
Moral of the story: Avoid Chase at all costs -- first opportunity they get, they will

you.
