Shhh...Missy's sleeping (again)!

 :matoes:

OK, I have a relative who hasn't quite completely learned from my experiences/horror stories with MK/MLMs yet and is considering getting involved with a travel business called YTB.  Any info/experiences anyone has to share would be greatly appreciated

Please don't send me URLS from YTB reps, I have more than enough of those that were given to him by his prospective recruiter.  Just trying to find the info he needs to keep him from making an expensive mistake in time, energy and (of course) money.  And if there is a Pink Lighthouse equivalent for YTB people, that I would DEFINITELY be interested in hearing about.

I'm just thankful that he has learned enough to ask me what I thought about it first...

I just heard of this one a few days ago.

I don't know much about it. I was briefly skimming their info, which is all on their site, about their comp plan. Looks like you have to pay $49.95 a month to be in it.

I'd stay away. Why would you want a travel agent that just wants to recruit more travel agents?

Anyway, most people are booking their own stuff these days. Travel agents are a dying breed unless you're doing group stuff and even then, there are special companies that handle those.

I Googled "YTB Scam" and 112,000 results came up. Lots of videos on Youtube speaking badly about it. I see the same people advertising both YTB and MK ads. It seems like another mlm.

I mean, it just seems like any other regular ol' mlm. Nothing different about it. Nothing for her relative to think it's different from any other mlm, ya know?

I didn't think I was being the first to out YTB as a scam, hahaha.  :teehee:

I was surprised to see how many youtube videos there were about it being a scam. I had never heard of it. But just the type of people involved in it remind me of Mary Kay. Just kinda slimy people trying to make money off of you, ya know? It gave me a bad feeling.

I'd love to hear back from her that her relative decided not to do it. That would be awesome.

But Missy might be sleeping right now! Shhhh! >*.*<

Goldflowerinc, Missy the Cat sleeps at least 20 hours a day so it's hard to catch us when she's NOT sleeping but I appreciate the consideration for Her Majesty's latest beauty rest...   :ok:

And since she's authorized me to send gifts from her in her behalf, please accept these lovely  :fish2: :fish2:

Now back to the matter at hand.  So far, so good but no decision yet.  I've heard about an anti-travel MLM blog which I've passed on to them plus a few other URLs in the travel industry and also concerning issues from last year with their financial statements; the nice thing about being listed on the NYSE is that you have you publish an annual statement - funny thing, seems that last year most of their income came from - you guessed it - team member recruiting.  Odd thing for a travel business, wouldn't you think?

I mean, I know it's a scam and YOU know it's a scam but my task here is to convey this to someone who hasn't been burned yet.

Plus, my SIL loves to travel and I think that secretly, deep in her heart, she'd really love to become a travel agent.

I still haven't looked at their official propaganda yet (I'll need a few free hours for analysis) but that's on my "to-do" list this week.

Though I also sent them a URL for a blog of someone who absolutely LOVES YTB, reason being it's pretty much the same writing style (and pretty much the same swill) that the top MK directors subject their units to...maybe the sheer phoniness will speak volumes where the facts don't.  It certainly pegged my personal BS meter...and makes me wonder if all the "top" folks in these MLMs all use the same ghostwriter.

No, but I will ask her if any of the language on this blog sounds familiar to her...

It certainly should, since I attempted to recruit her into MK a number of times before I came to my senses!

:hello: to Missy from Ike the cat!  :fish2:

This does sound like just another crappy MLM. Why doesn't your SIL just go ahead and become a travel agent if that is what she wants to do?

Curious, you might want to have your SIL look at this link:  http://www.quatloos.com/Q-Forum/viewtopic.php?t=2827.

Apparently, the attorney general of the state of California is looking to shut down YTB.
