Music is God's gift to our souls.... Play on!

« on: June 27, 2007, 10:19:22 PM »

Anyone have any scoop on this one? a lady at church is practically cramming it down my throat, and I'm SICK of it. Other than the fact that if it was legitimately a "breakthrough" the FDA would be all over this. It wouldn't be sold by some life-sucking MLM. Help!! I need fuel! I am not able to pull up anything that gives me what I need - some of the MLM watchdog sites don't have it listed at all. Everyone who knows I have MS seems to have some "miracle cure" for me, and this lady will NOT let it go!! (I'm a fairly healthy relapsing-remitting MSer. I am on FDA approved meds that have drastically improved my health.) A Juice Plus lady ruined a friendship between another lady and myself, since she fed the other gal lie after lie, and I said NO. So, I'm not anxious to go down the road again, but MAN, this lady is Cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs!!!  :gah:

WOW..does the madness ever end??? Sorry this lady is bugging you and especially a lady through church. If I were you I would just try to explain to her that you are prescribed medication and that it is working so you dont want a change. Tell her that if things change, you would consult with your doctor about the best replacement medicine.

and if that doesnt work..just say "listen lady, take a hike cause im not interested". lol

There is some info about this Vemma outfit at scam.com but I don't know how helpful it would be.  The post calling it "junk juice" I saw I think summed it up pretty well.  Unfortunately, the scam.com site has been hijacked by trolls who think MLMs are the greatest thing since sliced bread so be prepared to read a lot of nonsense in the MLM section.

Yeah, that's what I found. I went to several sites, but found load upon load of crapola from MLM-loving trolls, and got frustrated. I'll look again, though. I don't think I was at scam.com, but I'll head there next. Thank you so much!

Thanks Justine - I'm an RN, and have had no trouble telling her that I'm happy with my medical treatment, but I needed some additional ammo to get her ultimately off my back. She's a perfect type A+++ personality for scummy MLM work, and unless I have something that absolutely contradicts her claims of "Miracle Juice" I won't be able to get her to back down. It's a shame, I wish she could see why people avoid her like the plague. I'd like to give her something to chew on, as she has already said she doesn't like this state because "people are mean here." Gee, wonder why? They're picking up & moving to Texas, so for all you Texans out there, WATCH OUT!!  :bafraid: I guess that will finally remove her from my hair, but I need something to keep her off me for now. I know something has to be out there that exposes this fraud. It's just another "Juice Plus" to me, and I'm personally tired of telling people that I'm happy with my medical treatment-thank-you-very-much-MIND-YOUR-OWN-BUSINESS!  :gah:

Though Vemma isn't listed, you could send her to www.mlm-thetruth.com and www.pyramidschemealert.org.

Also, if you subscribe to consumer reports, they did an article a few months about about being wary of these "neutraceutacals" and dietary supplements, as they are not regulated or evaluated by the FDA. There is also a web site run by the U.S. gov't - something with pharmacopia in it's title (I will find for you), that has interesting information on these things as well, such as that many don't actually contain what they say they do. For instance, they will test 10 different manufacturers of a supplement that says it has 50 milligrams of whatever it is per pill. Some would have 100 mil per pill, some would have NONE, and the rest would be in between. Only those with the USB approval seal contain exactly what they say they do.

The Consumer Reports article is online. I don't know if the whole article appears if you're not a subscriber (I am, so I saw it). You can try though - go to www.consumerreports.org, and click to health and nutrition section, then the supplements and read that overview, among other things. Print it out for her - it's scary.

I think facing this woman with science (i.e. I don't take it w/out my doctor's approval, your product isn't regulated, and I already have a chronic lifelong condition - I have no interest in playing mad scientist with my body, and products like yours scare me) and anti-MLM weaponry (vising www... please read the facts on MLMs. If your product was legitimate, it wouldn't be sold in an MLM) is probably the best you can do.

And I have nothing against supplements - I take some (under my doctor's instructions only!) for genetic high cholesterol, by which I'm avoiding having to take statins at a young age (which scares the begeebies out of me). I'm still taking regular blood tests to monitor because even these can have negative long-term effects. They have their place - and I'll let my doctor let me know what that is.

Good luck!

It is U.S. Pharmacopia - www.usp.org. And vitamins and minerals will have this little gold seal that says "USP" on it. That means it's been tested and has been approved as having what it says in it. If you take any Nature Made vitamins, they're all USP certified (so you can see the symbol on there). I guarantee nothing Vemma produces has the USP verification on it - they'd never even submit it for approval (most don't - they KNOW they're scamming consumers so they don't even want to have their product tested because it's complete CRAP).

I'll add some more info about these juice MLMs in general.

If you see something that says they have research from the "Journal of Nutraceutical Medicine" - this is a bogus "medical" journal that is paid for by MLMs. MLMs are the customers of the people who do this "research", so all the crap in there will be pro-juice. It is not a respectable, INDEPENDENT journal by any means.

Also, if this juice is similar to any of the other juice MLMs: (Tahitian Noni Juice, Xangosteen, Mona Vie, HImalayan Goji juice) than you can find a fabulous expose here:
http://www.cbc.ca/marketplace/2007/01/goji.html

this canadian journalist did a fab investigation into this Goji juice MLM. Watch the interview with "DR" Mindell - you'll see the types of health claims these people make, and how the science behind it is non-supportive.

Jeepers, these juice people are nuts. Maybe if you tell her that you are under a doctor's care and following the treatment plan and it is working for you, thank you very much  then she will take the hint and leave you alone.

Oh believe me, I have tried repeatedly to tell her that I'm very, VERY happy with my medical treatment, but as I've found with so many of these juice pushers is that they somehow think they know more than the average M.D. I'm mean, surely, signing the contract and ordering yourself a whole bumload of "miracle juice" certainly must be equivalent to 4 years of undergrad, 4 years of med school, 2-4 years of residency, and years of private practice, right? I'm sure that so many of those people think they are "qualified" to give medical advice, but I wonder how many of them have been sued (or need to be sued) for malpractice? They all seem to think that doctors are idiots that can't see beyond the ends of their noses. I've heard the phrase, "Oh, your doctor doesn't know anything about our product, so he won't recommend it. There's plenty of research behind it..." I mean, come on - I wasn't born yesterday, and I know there is research done. Unfortunately, the research can't be recreated for the FDA, and they won't be approved by the USP.

Trust me, this lady is a freak. There is no end to her arguments about how miraculous this crap juice is. And of course, it can cure my son of Asperger's autism (NOT), calm my other son's ADHD (NOT), cure my diabetes (NOT) and cure me completely from MS (NOT NOT NOT!). It can even fix my husband's thinning hair and prevent my daughter from having zits. Gosh - I wonder if it can cure her diarrhea of the mouth? Maybe that's what I should suggest - if she takes it herself, then why is she so unhappy that she has to move to another state? Why isn't it making her HAPPY?  :wineo: (My guess is that her business is so lousy that they've had the house foreclosed and have so many bills they have to run away...)

Don't people get it that if you're so desperate to sell a product, it will usually turn people the other way? I just don't understand why so many of us get sucked into the MLM black hole and believe their lines so easily. Well, I guess I do get it, but it just seriously bugs me when someone is so desperate they will say anything to me.  :tapfoot:

:rita: Oh - I love, LOVE this new smiley!!
Yes, juice lady is crazy. If she's not in selling mode, she's in crisis mode. Everything is a crisis except her little "miracle in a bottle." I'm sure, to be honest, that she believes it works. I'm sure she believes it has cured her every ailment. I seriously do pray for her that she can see what she is doing to the people around her before it gets more poisonous to her children.  (not in a literal sense, but you can see the undercurrent there!)

:laugh3: oral leakage - of anal juice!  rofl rofl Gotta love that sick nurse humor!! She's another one I could seriously picture with all the lovely things we imagined for my crazy  Kaybot !!! OK, off I go to envision a colon prep.....     wink
