We started brainstorming some ideas on another thread, and I thought it might be worth it to start a new post...if it's been done already, sorry!
Many of us got into mary kay to make money, some of us with families didn't want to get a full time job, some of us with debt wanted to knock that out, but I think we all found it cost more to do Mary Kay than it paid us. I for one know I had the dilemma of what can I do, my circumstance hadn't changed...here are some of our ideas. Please add your own, I know we have options, ladies, we just have to think outside the box!

There are some good ideas out there for making a little extra money. If you can play the piano, I have a whole host of ideas for you. I'm sure that other people could brainstorm and come up with ideas for you. In fact, why don't we do that? Gang, let's get a whole list of other ways to make a little money in your pocket without selling Mary Kay.
I'll start with my musician ideas...
~contact a local suzuki program and see if they need an accompanist for their group lessons or concerts. You usually can make $50 for 2 classes here.
~If you have relatively good piano skills and like kids, consider starting a small studio of piano students, even just beginners. You could find a teacher who might like you to become a "feeder" for their program
~Find a job in your church...right now my church is looking for a choir director, it's 4 hours of work a week, and they aren't necessarily looking for someone who is highly qualified as a musician, but someone who loves kids and has a strong faith.
~Gigging is the best way to make quick money as a musician. You could easily make $100 for playing a wedding...
Non musician ideas...trying to think of things that you could do around your hubby's schedule...
~what about tutoring? Learning centers around here are looking for people who have strong skills in a subject area, but aren't overqualified.
~we have a shopping center that is always looking for help from stay at home moms, like Williams and Sonoma or Coldwater Creek. They pay about $10 an hour, but that could be around $80 a week...or even seasonal help...
~I've never done it, but I know alot of women who take care of other kids during the day...there might be issues with that, but maybe some people here could offer their input on that.
Here's an idea from Littegirl:
"As for extra $--here in my state, you can watch up to four kids not your own and still not file, worry about license, etc. Just one child will bring in quite a bit of $ for you. The trick is finding a child that gets along well with your kids. It will also make you feel good to be helping a mom keep her baby out of day care. Having been on both sides of the child care equation (needing it and providing it), you could really be a huge blessing to another family, and pay for all the extras you and your kids need."
Here's an idea from Sad:
"Anyway, for other job options-
Tutoring (I know that was already said, but I think it is a great idea!)
Someone on here (can't remember her name) makes purses and sells them online, maybe you have a hobby that you could turn into a job! Think about it....
Freelance writer (I do it) -Find something you are interested in, and then see if there is a magazine or website dedicated to it, and write for them! Many will pay per word!
"Babysitting" someone elses child along with your kids at home. I have several friends who do this. It is just one or two more kids to keep up with, and they make 200 per week per kid!!!
If I think of more, I will let you know....."
