I have been using bare minerals for 2 days and I think I might return the kit. My skin has never been more oily...I may have a new source of domestic oil production right here.  faint I was only moderately oily and it is winter so I am totally shocked at how my skin is reacting. I have to take a kleenex and blot my face. The first day I think I used too much and it was coming off on the tissue. It is so disgusting. Gosh, I am even embarrassed that I was walking around like that. giggle Today I used a lot less but my skin is still so oily and there is no coverage at all.

I wanted to ask if anyone else had these problems? I read Lynn's link about bismuth-oxychloride and I am anxiously awaiting my samples to arrive so I can try them. It sounds like my skin is not reacting well to that ingredient. I am so hoping that is the problem so I can use her minerals. If anyone has experience to share, I would be interested to hear.

I hope my samples come today. oh please oh please  smiley

I'm having the same problems with the oil. and my face has never been this oily. I usually have normal skin, with very mild oil on my forhead, nose and chin. But since using this stuff, my forehead is disgusting. I've even had to break out the oil mattifier, which is helping.

I do notice though, that I am using more moisturizer because of the way the powder looks on my face, my pores are huge! I think I need to try their product that helps minimize them, I don't know what it's called. But apparently that helps.

The one thing I did try and it kinda worked with the mineral veil. But I had an allergic reaction to it. I got hives on my face, ya not pretty. So, I don't use that anymore. Oh well.

So let me know how you do with the new samples. I would love to try something else that doesnt make me yucky!

My friend had the same reaction with bare minerals...  Her face went beserk!!

I hope your samples from Lynn arrive today!  I am so loving mine...  And I have dry skin, but use some oil free hydrating gel for my morning moisturizer and it works great...

I have found that for minerals your skin needs to be REALLY dry or your pores look HUGE!!  So no more day solution or even essence or moisturizer in the mornings for me.  Just the gel.

That way it is noce and dry/smooth and the minerals glide on without enhancing my pores...

Hope this helps!

That's is good to know, TUP. I use moisturizer every morning. Maybe I should stop with the minerals.

Lynn's page has an article on bismuth-oxychloride and when I read that I was pretty sure that was me.  crying I really hope her samples will work for me. I had only heard raves about bare minerals so I was really surprised how bad it was on me. The fact that she posted an article about this on her page tells me it must not be all that uncommon.

The quest continues.

Hi Julie,

I'm sorry your skin is reacting so badly. I am highly suspicious that it is, indeed, the bismuth oxychloride. That stuff is terrible on a lot of women's faces. It's irritating your skin, and your skin is reacting by trying to lubricate it and push it out (this is just for anyone who doesn't know why it would be oilier than usual).

I hope your samples arrive, too, and can't wait to hear an update. Please let me know if you have any questions.

TGIF,

I also have a suggestion: If you're using BE, they're known for accentuating pores and making them look larger. It's because you must really force the makeup into your pores with the buffing/kabuki brush business. You may want to try being more thorough when you apply. If you're not using BE, it could just be the fact the makeup is a little too light, which causes pores you never knew you had to show up.

And like TUP said, it could just be that your skin wasn't dry enough when you applied. Minerals really grab to any moisture and stick.

Hi Jypsi,

I have two different products for oily skin. They are primers, and are applied before you apply your foundation. Serecite and Mattifier. Mattifier is the best, but it has cornstarch in it, which bothers some people, so I also offer serecite. You can also mix them into your foundation (most do 50/50) to save a step. HTH!

Hi Lynn, that article was sooo me. I am really glad you posted that because otherwise, I would have never known what was going on. The second time I wore the Bare minerals, I couldn't wait to wash it off. When I did my face was pink like I had a sunburn so I know my skin was getting very irritated.

Should I be skipping moisturizer in the morning? My skin is usually normal to slightly oily in the winter and oily in the summer. I only use moisturizer in the morning to get the SPF but since the minerals have that maybe I am better off without it, no?

I can't wait to try the samples.  bounce

Hey Julie,

I don't see any reason to skip the moisturizer. If you like the application better without it, go for it. I, myself, have to hydrate otherwise I look a little... scaly.  giggle

I don't have any problem w/ bare minerals, but do know that there are a small number of women who can't use it-- don't know why- but anyway, I love it and feel that it makes my pores look smaller, etc--- don't have the oil problem either-- just try another brand and see what happens. smiley

That's intersting Lynn...........because on the thread over on PT (the day we talked about our fav non-mk products).....I was such a skeptic of minnerals that I asked millions of ??'s --- the one common denominator was that I should not use a moisturizer under the minnerals foundation.

Don't wash your face at all in the a.m. just apply the minnerals (which I thought worked great for me since I shower at night) as long as you use a GOOD moisturizer at night.  However, when you brought out the bliss spray, I thought now THIS is a way I can use a moisturizer intended for minnerals (cuz I have one from BE that came with the starter kit, but you can't apply it again throughout the day).........so I am interested to hear WHY you think people would say NOT to use a moisturzer under the minnerals?????

Sorry!  I know you come here for fun and then I put you to work!   Love

I think if you're not starting kind of fresh in the morning, it's not a good thing-- at least rinse the face with h2o or something-- b/c whatever you're puttin on at night is still there, and my skin is always kind of oily in the morning-- so I start fresh w/ moisturizer. My bare minerals DVD recommended starting w/ a clean face and either some sort of lightweight serum or moisturizer depending on your skin type-- but from my experience, use something for your skin type either to add moisture or to control oil, before applying any kind of makeup. I think th eminerals go on much smoother and more even.

Thanks for the advice.  I, too have that DVD all wrapped up and properly sealed *wink*......I do use the product they provide underneath.......I've been lucky, I guess......I used to be oily, but with age (oh yippee) I am have normal skin (hence the wrinkles are beginning to form).

I must admit BE products make my nose (just my nose) itch a little.  If I don't move it, it doesn't itch............***keeping a very still nose**** giggle

From what I gather it's the Bismuth ingredient.
