Wait a minute, I had that calculator!  And to think, I was so proud of it  groan

Me too.  And I sold the stupid thing on ebay for $15.55 (along with a Sticker, Ribbon, Pencil, Pen, Pin, and Bracelet)

The phrase "on trend" is so funny.  I have been looking at a lot of other makeup lines and I have yet to see a bright orange lipstick.  My director tried to convince me that orangey glamour products were in.  Funny how I don't see any at the Clinique counter.  I actually saw a blush at the counter that I used 15 years ago.  I know they have product changes to but it doesn't seem as frequent and drastic as MK.

I guess MK is on trend if you were to go back 10 years in time.  Most people who religiously use MK are not in their teens and have their shades and shade ranges that they like.  I have a cousin that used to sell in late 70's and she was complaining about how often they change products.  She said just when she finds something that works for her (she has extremely sensitive skin and does not try a lot of products in fear that her face will have an allergic reaction.) that they go and change/discontinue it.  And she has her shades that she likes and she doesn't give a rats behind what MK says is the current trend--she uses what she likes.  I think a lot of women are like that.  They know what looks good on them and don't like to experiment with weird colors.   In speaking of weird colors I think of "cotton candy eye color."  I refused to stock that color and only sold 1 and I got it from my director.  I had a customer buy it for her teenage daughter.  She even agreed that it was hideous but her daughter liked it.

"On Trend"??  I think not.  This is not a product that is seen as "cutting edge".

When I first started, my baby sister (who lives and works in NYC) asked my director if MK had any hip, cool eyeshadow shades (she wanted something other than earth tones).  Then she said that she thought that MK was mostly used by women who lived in the midwest.  I had to laugh...she did not mean anything bad...she just did not associate MK with the chic make-up colors/trends that she was seeing in NYC!

The only "hip, cool" color suggestion that my director could come up with was the cotton candy eyeshadow duo - yeah - bubble gum pink and baby blue - real "on trend"!

I never understood the "on trend" thing either.  How can MK be on trend when they come out with products well after other companies?
