When I was young.. there were very few credit cards.. ( old lady here)
Life can be lived without a credit card.
Debit cards are great for ordering online.
I even bought my first home without having a credit card.
This business of having to build up your credit rating is a farce. You need to build up your savings! PAy off your debts..even mortgage.. have an emergency fund.. save some cash .. and enjoy life.
Seems like you realize you are SPENDING whan you have cah in your hands.
Amen to that, Sally! Aside from MLMs, I think alot of people get into debt b/c of the brainwashing our media/society does - you know, "Oh that purse is outdated, oh those jeans aren't 'in', oh that minivan is dorky, you need to look like this to be pretty and desirable, your house needs to look like this to make you feel good, etc etc etc......". The high amount of attention paid to the materialistic superficial is sickening. I think it would be interesting to see an entire town isolated from all that brainwashing and see how differently the people live and treat eachother. I suspect their priorities would be much more meaningful and the Jr. High kids wouldn't be picking on eachother because so-and-so has a dumb backpack instead of a messenger bag. It all ties in to the environment too, b/c all the perfectly usable stuff we throw away in trade for the next new shiny thing ends up in a landfill somewhere, and the manufacturing plants making all the new crap aren't pumping oxygen into the air you know. JMHO.
