Hi - I found this website today, and I just want to tell someone -- we had neighbors move into our neighborhood, and the day they arrived, in our first conversation with them, they told us that the wife was in Mary Kay, and that she would soon be making between $10,000 and $19,000 per month, because she was some type of director, and would soon be some executive director or something like that. Way to make my husband feel great as he's making about $40,000 per year! This couple was constantly telling me I should be selling MK because it's God first, family second. Well I worked part time and my kids went to after school care. My MK neighbors would always tell me how great it was to work from home, and be with your kids all day, and the MK wife would make fun of my job (I worked in a government office), and the fact that I had to be there for set hours. But what really happened was their kids were at my house constantly when I was home, or they brought a babysitter to their home to keep the kids out of the mom's hair, and after a while they ended up sending them to daycare! So yes she was home, but no quality time was spent with her kids. And she was always going to some stupid MK function on Saturday, right in the middle of the day! No way would I want to do that. So that was about 12 years ago, and they are no longer my neighbors, but I do keep in touch with them, but she is certainly not making $10,000 per month. I do like her, but always felt that I had to be on guard against her constant sales pitch! Thanks for listening to my rant!

That's a shame that your neighbour was soo deeply brainwashed by MK....the MK way of life is NO life at all! You got that right! Glad to listen to your "rant"....and welcome to the board!

True tolerance is loving someone despite actually disagreeing with them. There is nothing to tolerate if you are not bothered. Honesty and transparency are virtues to be treasured - don't hide your beliefs in the name of tolerance, be honest about where you stand, just do it with love.

You guys sound you had a bad experience with mk. It is good if you have the right Director and you work according to you schedule. Not some elses. My job closed after 20 years and I was doing mk at the time this keep income coming in during the year I was laid off. Unemployment does not pay all of your bills, I worked mk into my schedule and I did very well with it. So, all of what is being said is not true it is how to handled your business. You can not be brain washed is you following you own mind set. Sorry for your bad experience.

Oh Fluffy...be careful, MK is considered a job and if you did not report that income and the state finds out, you could owe some unemployment benefits plus be prosecuted for not reporting income! Prior to returning my MK inventory last year, I was ineligible for benefits for 4 years during the summer time when I was not driving a school bus, one of the questions in our state is are you self employed and how much are you making each week. Be very careful!!
