Here is the response i got when i wrote a genuinely nice email to my director explaining that i am moving on from MK and that I would be happy to sell her any of my inventory that she may want to avoid having her pay back her commission. I read this email and i am kind of mad about her attitude in it. But then i thought i may be reading it wrong...so i thought i would put it on here for some feedback before i reply. Here ya go:
I got your email but not your phone message. Ive had problems with Comcast phone lately.

One thing I have learned over the years is not to listen to advice from people who are bitter - the devil loves bitterness and uses it for destruction of dreams placed by God.  That would be like asking advice from a divorced person about marriage.  It makes no sense but people looking for an excuse to get divorced do it so that they can feel better about their decision.  When a person is looking for an excuse to get divorced, they are easily convinced.  Its not the positive, faith filled people who take the time to write blogs against something on the internet.  It would have made sense to go to me or another director so your information wasnt biased by only talking to the ones who quit.

Let me get this straight.  MK isn't a MLM company - there is one sale of product to consultant and it is all at the same discount.  In MLM companies - people purchase product through each other and the ones at the bottom pay more for products than the ones closer to the top.  My husband had to study cosmetic companies and MLM for his MASTERS IN BUSINESS at UofD and my best friend had to do the same thing at MIT in Boston.  In both of their studies, MK was designated as a direct selling organization and NOT a MLM.  MLM companies are not allowed in the DSA (Direct Selling Association) - check it out online at www.dsa.org.  Information from 2 MBA programs and from the DSA carry a lot more weight that anything that came from some ex-MK people online with an axe to grind.  There is no comparison and Mary Kay is not a MLM company - period.

I am sad to see that you are quitting on this.  I was so impressed with your attitude when we met at Max and Ermas.  You told me that quitting wasnt an option.  At this point though, I cant help you build a business in with your current mindset.  If you want to be open to being positive about MK, I would be happy to help you get through whatever valley you are in right now.  If you had gone to training, possibly you wouldnt have ended up quitting.  I wish your growth in the Lord in whatever you decide to do.  If you change your mind before you send back your products and decide to get training and be diligent in your business, give me a call.  If not call MK and ask for the repurchase department to return your products.

My thoughts are that I work full time, manage a household and was trying MK. The 10hrs/week that is supposedly Full time in MK turned into MUCH MUCH more than that when you factor in calling, meetings, and events. The great money you can make turned into the GREAT debt that i incurred and the only way to get out of that is to build off the others that you manipulate into debt. Lastly, i am not in a valley, i am actually happy! My second job may not pay much but at least its consistant and i don't screw people over. I'm getting married soon, I'm working on my debt issues, and really i just am enjoying life..so if anyone is bitter i think it is her, not me and definitely not the ladies on this forum. I sure would like some links to sites that show how MK is an MLM to throw back in her MBA/dsa BS face splat

I don't think you're reading it wrong.  That was a typical response.

I don't think you are reading it wrong either.

The 2nd paragraph about the MBA is BS.  That's the same BS that MK teaches about being taught at Harvard.  She probably thinks she is speaking the truth, but she is wrong wrong wrong.

Good luck with your new venture.  Having been in your shoes, you will feel so much better when MK is out of your life.  I know I do.

Pick up the phone and call MKC repurchase dept today!!  Do not delay any longer.  This response is crap!!  Do not allow her to affect you anymore.  You made a final effort to save her some $$ and she tried to shame you into not 'quitting'??  Well  moon on her!!! Just because MK found a loophole to keep from being an MLM does not make what they do any different!  So what id everyone gets the same discounts...they don't all get the same commission and again it is based on INVENTORY not SALES!!!   mad3 mad3 mad3 mad3

LOL - talk about a scripted response! I really like these lines, "If you want to be open to being positive about MK, I would be happy to help you get through whatever valley you are in right now.  If you had gone to training, possibly you wouldnt have ended up quitting."  Talk about a guilt trip! I agree with Jypsi, pack up that ish and send it back!   dance

I just saw this topic and know it's past time to respond, but this one really ticks me off:

"Let me get this straight.  MK isn't a MLM company - there is one sale of product to consultant and it is all at the same discount."

If a Director meets her ordering requirements, she receives a 13% commission on her own order.  This essentially gives her a 63% discount on her order.  So.....the same $600.00 retail order that you would pay $300.00 for only costs her $222.00.  Ummmmm. not the same discount for all.   mad2

Good point MPBB.    Send it back now, all of it.  You tried.  Let her deal with the chargeback, she isn't friendly enough to even bother with.  Use that money to pay down your debt.

Justine, your director is reeeeaaaaalllllyyyyy good at what she does!!  Wow!  If her email hadn't made me hoppin'  mad2 , I'd be somewhat impressed!  So, let me just say this ... she's a manipulative witch whose response to you is filled w/lies and deception and heaps and heaps of guilt ... she has set herself up as the final authority over your business decisions, thereby giving her a great story to tell about how you allowed yourself to be deceived by awful, negative, lazy women who are nothing but losers in life!  If she wasn't so afraid of the truth and honest discussion of legitimate concerns, she'd welcome your questions and be happy with your decision ... she is, however, afraid that you just might be on to something and that would just ROCK HER WORLD ... and she'll be having none of that, thank you!!  SO ... if you haven't boxed up your inventory and sent it back, I encourage you to do so ASAP and do not give one minute of concern to her chargebacks ... that's HER cost for doing "business" with MKC!  Yes, her email did spark a reaction in me today ... I'm sick and tired of their hateful games!  It's time to hit them where it hurts!!!  Soapbox

I detest the abuse of God above all else in MLM's. This is truly a manipulative response. So everyone here is being used by the devil to crush "God given Mary Kay Dreams".  Funny, I don't ever recall any scriptures siting Mary Kay or MLM's as God given dreams"  She herself is deceived and therefore is deceiving others.  The bible does address this:

"For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables” (2 Timothy 4:3,4).

"But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived” (2 Timothy 3:13)

There is no doctrine of MK in the bible.  She herself is deceived and trying to perpetuate that on you. :beachn

I'm glad you're out.  I hope you send everything back.   Congratulations to you on moving forward with your life. I think that is way :coool2

We have to investigate what we are putting out there.....Countess Beeswatter is so right sharing how the bible and spirituality can manipulate.  Isn't Quixstar(Amway) a member of the DSA?  Aren't they known as the original pyramid scheme, aka MLM?

Ohh that is scary that someone will tread that close to the line.  That is the genuine example of MK pressure right there.  Using religion like that is wrong.  I am sure glad I am not her!

I agree - the religious undertones never sat well with me.  It's not church, people!

And the way she said it, she almost was saying that if you didn't want to be positive and get training then the alternative was that you are negative and lazy...

How manipulative!

Oh, can we say gag?    Sick  I would tell her to suck a pink cadillac!!!   :laugh3: :jarcad:  Yes, typical brainwashed response I have learned about recently.  I call it the "corporate giant response."  No corporate giant can be honest & do the right thing.  You make a certain job your life & do for your co workers, only to have them treat you like you don't exist anymore when you decide to quit.  You don't count anymore & are not worth the company's time.  (been there recently)   :gah:
I always so love it when people try to use religion as a weapon.  Those are the types that don't understand the whole concept of Christianity.   Hmmm.....aren't those the types of people who give Christians bad name??   Oh yes, they are the type that turn people off from church in general.  grrr... :hit8:
Let's see here... The devil comes in many disguses, he even comes in pretty pink packages.  :jarcad:  Maybe your former Mk director realized that you had seen through her & MK??   Remember Judas??   There's a Bible lesson right there!  Compare him & MK & their love of money!!
Marvelous Light said it all when she stated you might have rocked her world & we will have none of that.  If Mk isn't a MLM company...then just what is it?  How stupid does MK think we are?  When I almost (soooo close) decided to sell MK, my husband was ready to set me down & tell what MK was. He already knew!!  I had NO clue at the time.  I am still in shock on how I came soooo close to selling MK!!   :matoes:
I just love how she didn't respond with your suggestion to buy your inventory.  You try to leave on a good note & they don't want to play nice.  I hope she gets a nice chunk taken out of her next check.  The Pink Stepford Consultants!!  They fly around on pink brooms!!   witch      What comes around goes around....she will eventually get her come-upins.
Best of luck to you!
