My friend started to sell these about a year ago but I honestly dont see how she can make any money!

She only gets a 25% comission and her shipping rates are insane!!

I know she does charge for shipping but Im not sure if she is getting reimbursed the whole amount...

Does anyone have any dirt on this MLM???

It costs $175 for your starter kit. You do home parties. And like you said, you only make 25% base commission. But it's MLM, so you no doubt make a % of the sales of your recruits.

The company started 10 years ago and is doubling its manufacturing space because they have been so successful.

Candles are extremely popular. It never ceases to amaze me how huge a market it is.

Another big candle MLM is Mia Bella, also known as scentsations. They do soy candles.

I haven't ever experiences a Gold Canyon candle. I have a friend who was considering being a district manager, or whatever the exact title is. She would be the person that the consultants get their products from in the area. I didn't understand it exactly. I can ask her and get some more info.

Again, though...25% is NOTHING. If you made your own candles, you could make a lot more. Remember...the benefit of these companies is not for YOU, it's for the company. Supposedly this one was founded in the kitchen of someone who was dabbling with candle making. So, instead of creating a retail product, they went MLM. Why not? SO much money in it for them and they eliminate a lot of the business expenses for themselves.

It always blows my mind :holycow how much people are willing to spend on candles!  Call me a cheapskate, but I would NEVER spend $20+ for a candle!  Even the nice holiday ones I get, I cannot bring myself to burn because they are too pretty and too expensive.  Guess some would say the same about Skin Care & Make Up.... giggle

Okay, I admit it...I'm a candle addict. crying I love candles! I burn them everyday, even if its 115 degrees outside.  I like jar candles, pillar candles and tealights.  If it has a wick in it, I want it! I've had a few Gold Canyon candles, mostly given to me as gifts, and I really like them.  However, I had heard that Gold Canyon was an MLM, which kept me from trying to buy any of the candles myself.  I'd rather go to Pier One to indulge my addiction.  dance

"Hi, my name is TUP and I am also a candle addict..."

Velocity, we just started using the Glade Scented Oil candles, and we love them!!  clap

It is the one that has the three holders with candles, then you buy the refills three at a time...

Dewberry Dreams and Orchid Oasis are the faves around here!

TUP - whew, I am so glad I'm not the only addict.  I will definitely have to try the new Glade candles - I'm due for a new candle, so I'll have to find those.  Thanks for the tip!!

Sorry it took so long to respond, but I was lighting another candle.  giggle

Former MK, if you're reluctant to burn your pretty Christmas candles, try this......most sculpted column candles that are well made will burn through the center, (the outside is frequently a separate mold); as the candle melts/burns down the center, simple put in a taper and you can burn your pretty candles for a long time.

"Hi, I am Jypsi and..." *heavy sigh* "I TOO am a candle addict." *breakign down and crying in shame* crying

I hosted a Partylite party and got tons of cool free and cheap stuff.  I really like the consultant, she is very sweet, but I know she is trying to think of ways to recruit me (especially since she found out I am no longer in MK) As much as I would love to earn free products from them I WILL resist!!

Inner monologue...."Oh NO!!  Here come those damned MLM withdraws again!!"  Quick someone DO SOMETHING!!!!!!

My name is Sassy and I am also a member of CA (Candleholics Annonymous) *wave I love candles, my MIL makes candles AND I now have a candle warmer so even when the wick is gone, I can still enjoy my favorites candles scents until there is NOTHING left clap It's sad, but I hate it when someone gives me a candle as a gift, I burn it until it's gone and then there's nothing to indicate the manufacturer or the fragrance (this happened with one scent I particulary LOVED that I got as a scret Santa gift. The girl couldn't remember where she'd gotten the candle from (I was so sad over it! I still have it, but I hardly burn it becuase I'm afraid I'll never find it again.

BTW, my current favorite candle scent- Frosted Cranberry (it's part of the Bath & Body Works/White Barn Candle Co. Collection and I'm addicted! It doesn't smell holiday-ish, but it's very fragrant (if I'm burning it upstairs, you can smell it throughout the house!)  bighug

Sassy, that candle sounds yummy!  And that reminded me off a candle my sister got me that was so good I kept the label!

It is from a company in Tyler, Texas called Tyler Candle Company -- www.tylercandles.com

OhMyCats!!  These have incredible scents that last forever!  And they have a "room perfume" spray that totally rocks -- one called Diva that is delicious...

Love those awesome fragrances...

I'm late but I need to stand up and admit that I am a candle-aholic.  I love them and when I was a kid, we didn't have candles.  Candles were something that you stuck in the votive cup that came with your Home Interior sconces.  I went to a PartyLite show and I was mad that I had missed out on all that fun for so long!  I put candles everywhere except NOW I use them in those votive warmers because I'm tired of scrubbing the walls down because I've missed trimming a wick in time.

I just found GCC and I love so many of their scents!  I had seen a catalog and when the MOMS Club did a vendor night, the woman was there and I was like a junkie.  I actually snort candles, it's the only way to get a good shot of the scent.  You just stick your face right into the jar, it's not as bad as it sounds, really.  It's funny though, she was showing how the jars are reusable by sticking makeup brushes in one.  They just happened to be MK brushes and the gal who hosted the whole thing started looking around "who the hell invited MK, what the hell are you selling, candles or makeup?".  I'm pretty sure there were some margaritas involved but I was thinking the same thing!

We are fortunate to have several shops devoted to nothing but candles. So I don't have to wait for someone ordering from partylite or other MLM.  My most recent addiction: Spring Rain from yankee candle.  I bought the jar, I bought tea lights, I even bought the potpourri and refresher oil.  Love that scent.

We used to have a place that would pour candles for you in your own container. It was a GREAT Way to recycle all those Pat O's glasses...  Sad day when that candle place closed.

Jypsi!  I have just the thing for you!  You need a votive warmer honey!  Then you need to go to the store and find yourself some cheapie candles that come in little glasses that will fit in the votive warmer.  Then you go home, put the cheapie in the freezer, wait about 5 minutes.  Take it out, pop it on the bottom so you can get the cheapie, no smell good candle out of it.  Take the wick out of your favorite votive, drop it in the glass and put the glass in the warmer.  It is heavenly!  I have about 6 little glasses that I rotate through!

Psst, here's a secret!  Gold Canyon has a small votive that fits the warmers!  Ask your local consultant for leftovers!

I do this and it's great because I don't have to worry about burning the house down (cause I've come close) and I can have a candle "going" around the clock!  I can pop out the different smells, no black marks on my walls and the best of all?  I can get a 33 cent candle at Walmart and it'll smell for a change!  I don't know why the scent fades when I light the wick.

Ok, seeing as I have an elaborate process worked out here, um, I'm in serious need of help...
