I've heard of it and been to some parties.  It is OK.  They usually have a "buy two get your most expensive half off" sort of deal.  I bought a gold Omega necklace and some slides for it and have been happy with the quality, although I don't know if it is any better than what you would find at a department store for less.

I went to a party also. The only bad thing is she had very few items to try. I ordered some things that looked good in the catalog - but had to send them back.
One thing they have but is really hard to find are necklace extenders! I love have them to fix the length if needed.

Been to a few 'parties' but they tend to be overpriced. Even with the 'Buy 2 get one 1/2 price' deal you can
spend more than at a good sale at Macy's or Smartbargains.com or Overstock.com -even Kohl's can get you
a better deal. then it takes forever for the order to be shipped from the company to the hostess. This was
formerly Lady Remington Jewelry some 20 or so years ago.

Get this -- my co-worker is now selling Lia Sophia in order to get rid of her MK debt!   rofl   I bought a few pieces of jewelry from her but the quality isn't as good as I thought it would be, unfortunately.

I think they have a warrantee so if your jewelry breaks or something you can return it - save your receipt though!

I actually just received some lia sophia jewelery as a gift. it is pretty, but when I saw it, my first thought was that it looked like something that I could get at Macy's, Dillards, JC Penney, etc. The quality is ok, but it is definetly not top notch. I am not sure about pricing, b/c it was a gift so...that's all I got for now.   smiley

I've been to one L.S. party and was pretty shocked at some of the prices, but ordered a couple things that looked good in the catalog (you know, a friend has a party and you feel obligated to buy - that's not me anymore) and when I got them I was a little disappointed in the quality. I guess because I make jewelry I look at things differently too. One of the necklaces had pieces fall off a couple months later and another piece I just never wore because it wasn't comfortable on (a bracelet). I don't think I'd go out of my way to purchase it again.

The guarantee is nice, if you still have your receipt and they still make the piece you're returning, but for my money, I'll buy elsewhere or make it myself.

Department  stores have such high quality fashion jewelry that I don't get it w/ the lia sophia and the premier, etc--- you can find similar quality or better at such lower prices---I don't know. and anytime I'm invited to a party like that, it may not be the time for me to spend money--I want to shop when I want to shop--not just b/c someone's having a party. So, I just don't go to them b/c if I go I'll be obligated to buy something and it's impossible not to spend less than like $30. but I'm a little biased and try to stay away from MLM's completely---the only mlm products I would buy are party lite candles (b/c they have my fav. scent that I can't match from a store yet and other than Root candles, I think they actually are the best) and a few kitchen products from pampered chef that I love. overall-- I just try to stay away--I'm scarred for life I'm afraid.

The lady we bought our last Rainbow vacuum from was also a Lia Sophia rep.  She took her catalog and I was ready to buy a few things.  Glad to know that it's not all she cracked it up to be.

Especially since I paid cash for my Rainbow and she didn't give me my Rainmate, grrr.

I really do like the Rainbow.  If you have allergies, the thing is a dream.  Embarassingly enough, we have two.  The first one we bought about 5 years ago and it still works like new.  The newest one is about 2 years old now but it was cheaper to just keep the old one and we figured when we moved, we'll have one for each floor, I'm not carrying that thing up and down steps.  I have a strainer in the yard that I pour the basin through and then dumb the strainer into the trash.  Some people flush it but I just worry about it clogging the drains after awhile.

The newer one doesn't have the stink problem with the basin AND the newer one does act as an air filter now.  It keeps the moisture in the air at a certain percentage and all that good stuff.

Here's a little tidbit that I learned, if you ever do buy a Rainbow and you have to finance it, don't be surprised if your salesperson is in a bad mood when they leave.  Turns out, they only get $75 on the sale but if you pay with cash that's when they earn a percentage on the sale.  Although, for 3 hours of work, $25 an hour is better than what I ever made with Mary Kay!

Hi,

I am a former Lia Sophia consultant.  I joined.  Did incredibly well.  Got promoted to Unit Manager in only 4 months.  Quit shortly thereafter.

Jewelry is terribly overpriced so they can give you a discount and make you feel like you got a bargain.  The quality of the jewelry . . . well . . . it's slightly better than Cookie Lee, but not by much.  I used to say the lifetime replacement guarantee meant that you would spend the rest of your life returning the product back to the company for replacement.  Party after party that I did I was confronted by customers whose jewelry fell apart.  Note though that not all their jewelry is bad.  I have some very nice pieces from Lia Sophia that I'll never give up.   The other 95% is absolute junk.

The management plan . . . <heavy sigh> . . . the other reason I quit.  It is the worst I've ever encountered.  Everyone joins with a starter kit and earns 30% commission.  They tell you that you earn 10% on your downline, but there's a catch to it.  You see, you don't earn a penny on your downline until you become Unit Manager.  When you recruit someone into the company and you are NOT already a unit manager, that person comes in a sister in the hieararchy.  Instead of you earning the 10%, your upline does.

So how do you get to Unit Manager?  When I got promoted the qualifications were doable.  I had to recruit 3 consultants that were considered active.  My future team had to have an average of $2,500 per month for 2 months ($5,000 total).  I was able to do $1,500/month in sales myself easily.  The team covered the other $1,000 and I had 4 girls on my team.

The new year rolls around and so do the requirements to achieve AND MAINTAIN Unit Manager status.  The new requirements stated that you had to have an average of $5,000 per month over 3 months ($15,000 total).  Plus, you needed the required minimum of 3 active recruits.

So picture that.  You're working your best to hit those numbers, earning only on your own sales, earning no commission on your downline.  You finally hit the numbers and get promoted to Unit Manager.  What happens next?

Now you're in for the ride of your life.  You see, you have to maintain those numbers or you lose your team.  Yes, let me say that again YOU LOSE YOUR TEAM.  If you're only a few dollars short or one of your gals decides it's not for her, you lose it all.  What happens is you basically start all over again.  Your recruits are given back to your upline and you have to go out and find 3 completely new recruits, rebuild, get back up to $5,000/month in sales.  All while your upline is earning the 10% commission on your former team AND your new team.  Once you have proven that you can qualify for unit manager again, you are promoted, you begin to earn 10% on your downline and your former team is given back to you.

I have never encountered a program with such severe consequences as Lia Sophia.  Horrible management plan.  Poor quality jewelry.  I moved on.  Tried a few other jewelry companies.  There are 2 or 3 that have always kept my attention.  One in particular stands out.  I'm still active with them and plan to drop this MK thing and return back to my passion--Jewelry.

Wow, I didn't know that much about Lia Sophia.  My niece's Mom sells it (wants to quit her job like the rest of us).

I bought a couple, I swear the tag said "made in China".  It's pretty but I don't like the quality or price.
