In the hot or not game someone brought up Spike from BTVS and it made me wonder how many fans are here at the lighthouse?

Hey Sox girl - for a while, i thought Lori and I were the only Buffy fans on here. We scared away the others with our discussion of James Marsters' hotness, ad nauseum. I have all the dvds of Buffy. Love I watched Angel when it was on, and liked it much at first, but thought the last two seasons (especially the last) were not as good. I didn't like how it ended at all. Didn't watch Firefly because I knew it was doomed from the beginning and didn't want to be heartbroken when it was yanked off the air! That guy on it though (he was the bad priest guy on Buffy Season 7), had a guest ep on Lost though.

I HIGHLY suggest watching Firefly, then go rent Serenity!!! OMG I am so in love with that series and movie that it kills me because its not on anymore. BUT, I still watch my Firefly I actually have a site, www.serenity-valley.com that is based loosely around the whedonverse and current neat shows. I have a really good crew there if you ladies want to come and breathe some life back into the Buffy/Angel/Firefly talks My core people there are elfish_degree, greatnessinc, SelfishSunflower and a few others.

Nathan Fillion....was the priest. He was good. I loved season 5 and 6. I thought Spike was the one for Buffy. Angel was so mushy. She really needed someone who would keep her on her toes. Buffy is on everyday at 7am here. Once in a while I will watch.

I really liked Buffy with Angel. I think they did a good thing with the Angel spinoff, because I don't know how they could have progessed the B/A storyline anymore after Season 3, so then I did like the Spike angle in the later seasons, but I still thought she ultimately belonged with Angel. I thought they'd wrap that up by the end of Angel (one way or another!), but they didn't really. And I never liked that him falling in love with Cordelia thing either. I wasn't opposed him having a new girlfriend at all, but that didn't fit! He barely acknowledged her on Buffy, and when he did, it was with supreme annoyance. That C/A storyline on Angel was the same for me as if Xander showed up and they became BFF. Not gonna happen.
Watching it on DVD is neat because I see stuff I totally missed (through MANY viewings before). I think the B/A chemistry is different - more "love" than "lust". I did think it was hysterical after they brought Dawn in though and she gave that B/A impersonation to Riley about how they were all D-R-A-M-A.

Now I loved the C/A relationship. He couldnt stand her when she was sooo superficial, and he got to help mold her into the person she became.
Now, I sobbed at the end of Not Fade Away (Angel finale) because wer will never know what became of everyone. WHo survived?
We know Wes died, and Gunn was on his way out.
We also didnt see who got the Shashu prophecy.
Angel signed it away, so would that then mean that SPike would get it?
Now with Firefly, we at least got SOME closure with Serenity.
We wont ever see what became of the Fang gang after the finale.
I fell in love with these characters. When we found out Cordy was really dead, I bawled my eyes out. When Wes died, I felt like I lost a friend.
When the finale ended, I felt empty.
See, with Joss Whedon, he makes you fall in love with the characters, he makes you view them as friends, etc, and then he rips your heart out, lol.
Thats what I love about Whedons work. He makes the charaters so real.
I am so sad that the Whedonvers is dead.
We pushed and pushed to get a SPike movie, so have some sort of spinoff.
Hell, I would be open to a Faith SPinoff, lol.
I just want SOMETHING SLayerverse to watch and fall in love with all over again.
Now im all depressed

Not fade Away made me mad at first but then I saw the brilliance behind ending that way. It keeps the fans alive. The countless blogs and websites that still are getting traffic. It keeos his charachters real. having closeure would just have people moving on. I wish James Marsters had more work out there. He is really a great actor. I wish that Anya lived. That broke my heart, the way she died. Dawn was just irritating. I have never known sisters to act quite like they did. Stroking each others hair etc.

I think Anya (the real actress) actually wanted to die. I read some interview with her that last season when it was still up in the air if they were continuing, and she wanted to be written out regardless because she said she was tired of doing the show and didn't want to do it anymore, so she was actually hoping to have it cancelled. She was fairly negative about it, so I'm sure they said, "Sure! We can use your character as the sacrificial lamb!"
I never disagree with the genius that is Whedon, buttttt... One of my tv pet peeves is killing off characters for ratings, or because a show is ending. It's not creative, and it's becoming a tv template.
Dawn was highly irritating in Season 6, but redeemed herself quite a bit in Season 7.
