I know UYC, I was so upset this morning when I heard that. Actually I was upset that she even went back to Pakistan when she did. I know she was trying to prove a point, but how do you stop a suicide bomber or whatever! I guess she was shot? I don't mean to be Negative Nelly, but things will never change over there, or if they do, it changes back quickly! Sad.

yeah how depressing.

It just makes you wonder if a country can really change in the face of that kind of evil. When you think about the countries that were able to become successful democracies, did any of them faced this kind of enemy from within? The closest thing I can think of would be our Civil War, but even then the South was only trying to secede - not blow up every Northerner out of allegiance to a religon/god/ideology. It just makes me wonder if that kind of extremism can be overcome, when it's so entrenched in the population.

But anyway. I feel terrible for her.

My heart sank to my stomach when I heard it.

I must say, I have been expecting it for months. Every time I would hear a story on the radio start by mentioning her name, I would cringe and prepare to hear she had been killed.

It's hard to nearly impossible to make major changes in a country when they have done things a certain way for centuries.

Terrible.  The hairs on the back of my neck stood up when I heard it, because she represented so much hope.  I hope her followers there carry on with her cause.

True tolerance is loving someone despite actually disagreeing with them.  There is nothing to tolerate if you are not bothered.
