Since it seemed in the interest of everyone involved, I deleted the "controversial" post regarding political stuff. Just letting you know. I'll delete this also in a day.

It appears more than 1 post was deleted, no?  One from recently and another from awhile ago that wasn't a heated discussion at all - it was a link for anyone of any view to go to find what all the candidates themselves say they stand for.  Too bad we all can't have a normal adult conversation about it here knowing it's perfectly OK to have differing opinions and respecting others'.  Too controversial.  Not everyone will agree.  Oh my.

http://pinklighthouse.com/bb/interesting-websites-and-other-finds/site-to-help-you-decide-which-us-presidential-candidate-is-right-for-you/

There's your thread, rethinking. It wasn't deleted. It was under the "interesting websites" board here, maybe you thought it was here?

As to the previous thread that actually DID get deleted, it's sort of my fault. I didn't ask LJ to delete it, but I asked her just to take out my posts, because I normally don't talk about anything politics-related. For some reason I posted to your thread and immediately regretted it, because I have a personal rule about posting on that subject. It's not because I was embarrassed of my posts or even that I was upset with anyone here - I certainly wasn't. It was just for other reasons that I'm not ready to discuss yet. smiley

I think LJ must have decided the thread would be "disjointed" if she took out my posts, and she doesn't really like that. So maybe she just decided it would be easiest to delete it.

In which case, please feel free to repost your original message, and nobody will mind, I'm sure.
Sorry about that.

Oh, well about the one that was deleted, don't worry about it.  LJ it's your forum and of course, you can run it how you like, I'm a guest here on your turf.  I can't be upset if you choose to allow or disallow certain topics (if that's even what's going on here - I just assumed).  Sorry for my sassy mouth earlier.  *blushing*
If you haven't already guessed, I'm really into politics.  I also like to advocate for anything I'm really passionate about, be it an idea, a candidate, health info, etc.  In the process I sometimes find out I'm wrong but if I never "opened my mouth" (i.e. posted these things) I wouldn't find out other people's views on it.  This has made me think about my approach though.
LJ,  yourock  ! and thanks for this place!

Okay...let me be clear.

You may talk about ANYTHING you like. ANYTHING.

I just ask that you respect everyone else in the process.

I deleted the entire recent thread, rethinkingpink, where you posted the link in regard to Ron Paul, simply because it seemed that everyone that participated in that topic agreed that it might have been best left alone.

I didn't realize PC had the ability to delete posts. Thought I had changed settings here a long time ago.

The reason I don't allow members, except moderators, to delete posts is because of exactly what happened here. People post something, others respond, then the original poster changes their mind and deletes the thing that gets people discussing. Makes everything totally disjointed and has the effect of yelling fire in a theater and running out.

I restored PC's post because my response and every response after hers made no sense and had no reference point without it.

We have lots and lots of people who feel strongly about various issues. I think it's great! I also think it's wonderful that for some reason the members of this board have always seemed to be able to talk about anything without getting upset or angry.   :yays:

I'm happy to say I hardly ever have to edit or delete posts here, but the final decision is mine.

No biggie...just wanted to be clear.

No problem... but just to be clear, I hope no one thought I was disrespectful to them, upset, or angry (I wasn't).  To me it was a discussion exactly like what you described - ppl w/ differing thoughts and opinions sharing and discussing them.  Did anyone else see it differently?

No. That's how I saw it. Just a discussion and exchange of ideas & info.  I didn't think you came across angry or disrespectful at all.

I know this wasn't a thread that I commented on, well sort of! LOL BUT, I have to say that I liked seeing the discussions here. I thought everyone handled themselves just fine.

Politics and religion are always going to be heated for some people. If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. That's why I had  :nocmmnt: because I didn't know the issue, and couldn't add anything, but did enjoy ALL of what I read!

I like to see that people feel that they can tell their true feelings on here, we need that!

I'm sorry the thread is gone, because once I read up on this issue, I would have right here too. adding my 2 cents!!!!! LOL Dang it!!!!!  Love Love Love

That's one of the things I like about this site and the people, everybody can state their opinions and even if they are opposing opinions nobody gets mad or tries to force their opinion on anybody else.

You ladies are awesome!
