Beauty fades...dumb is forever

« on: August 27, 2006, 07:21:01 AM »

My all time Favorite movie is Elizabeth with Cate Blanchett. I love historical films like that . They put a new twist on historical figures that text books dont give you.  Grease is my next fav. No history just a great movie. I saw it at the drive in when I was 10. That and Star Wars. Boy I miss the drive in.

I like period pieces like  Sense and Sensibility and Pride and Prejudice ( the  older one with Collin Firth)

Also I don't usually like scary movies but I did like   Silence of the Lambs  although I did cover my eyes through most of it.

I loved Ocean's 11&12...Lord of the Rings, any of the Star Wars....I guess when I had kids I had to stop going to really intense/realistic/sad movies.  I'm just a bawler now!  crying

Lori- I just found out about 2 drive-ins in my area- can you believe it???  Lot's of parents take their kids to see movies like Pirates there because it's not so scary in the car...

My parents used to dress us in our jammies, put us in the back of the staion wagon and enjoy the evening. We'd be asleep before the beginning credits. They put a mall up in place of our drive in. We rented all the star Wars cause my boys have never seen the first 3 and I never saw the last 3. If its not animated or pg I dont go. Slim pickin's in that range. But I love Nemo and Shrek. Oh PC , Princess Bride was on 3 times this weekend! I thought of you. I love the Spanish guy.. he was funny.

Fave classics:  Rebecca (Hitchcock), Gone with the Wind, Citizen Kane and Becket

All-time faves:  Star Wars (RotS & TESB), LotR's, Harry Potter (mainly just the last one) and The Mummy (Branden Frasier version)

Girly faves:  When Harry met Sally, While you were Sleeping, Sense and Sensibility and I LOVED Shakespear in Love

I know there's more but that's enough; I'm a HUGE movie fan!

prdiva - The Last Mohican - YES, I wanted one of those smiley.  Also the LOTR movies, (Viggo Mortensen (sp?) (Sorry, I'm in a hormonally interesting time in my life.)   Grease at least twice a year.  Waiting for a chance to see The Devil wears Prada before it goes to DVD.  Mostly I take my nephew to see movies since his mom works on weekends.  Cars was a lot of fun.  GOOOD soundtrack. Oh, and Dirty Dancing, can't forget that one.

OMG! I almost forgot Spiderman I and II.  Looovved them... waiting impatiently for number III.

Yes, I'm kind of nerdy about my movies.  If I'm going to pay a babysitter and then plunk down another $11 per movie ticket for me and hubby the movie had better be bigger than life and really rock the place.

The Breakfast Club, The Outsiders, Stand by Me, Wedding Crashers, Caddyshack, Parenthood, Fletch, & The Witches of Eastwick.

Help me out, I'm drawing blank on the name of one of my all time favs. It has Steve Martin & Michael Caine as con men in Europe in a contest to get a chick to fall in love with them ???
