That's pretty much what I said when I read about Gov. Spitzer on CNN - eek!

Dayum. Them New Yorkers are asking for his head on a platter...
Thought you guys were a little more forgiving... Is it the whole AG thing he did being holier-than-thou that is fueling this?
I feel awful for his wife and THREE daughters. That really sucks. What is wrong with men?

I heard one of the late night shows last night saying how Hillary wasn't the only NY policitican who was ticked at their spouse anymore! They were also saying how that would bring Bill's ugh, er, "actions" back into the public mind, and how it may be bad for her campaign. These people are public figures, how do they think they can get away with stuff like this?

Sometimes I think they are used to getting special treatment and begin to think that they can do something under the "radar". But when you are a "person of interest" the news will sniff out your secrets and there is no such thing as flying under the radar forever!

Yep, he was so tough on ethics people called him Mr. Clean. That is why people are so pissed. It's the hypocrite factor. I don't want his head on a platter, but I think he needs to resign. He has lost all public trust and I don't think there is anyway to redeem it. I feel terrible for his wife and daughters too. It's horrible enough but even worse when the whole thing is public.

I saw on the news that he resigned his position as Governor. It was sad really. He took full responsibility for his actions. I have to respect him for that! He sounded really sincere and looked really beaten down! It is really sad for his wife and children.

I was pretty disgusted because he made it sound like a "private, personal failing". When you're the governor of such a big state, it's not just the hypocrisy involved. There's also a very high probability of blackmail. When my dh was getting one of his security clearances, they did all kinds of digging to make sure he wasn't susceptible to blackmail. The investigators even went around to our neighbors, asking them if they were aware if my husband was having an affair. (Of course the neighbors told us later! lol) They asked because the government doesn't want someone with a high-level clearance to also be a sitting duck. I'm sure our bank accounts were scrutinized for payments to hookers too. ( ) What spitzer did was just incredibly stupid. Not to mention what he did to his 3 daughters. Sick Sick Sick Sick Sick

Wow PC I hadn't thought about the blackmail factor. I didn't know about the "Mr. Clean" hypocrisy factor either. I just heard some blurb about a politician who hired hookers to do what he could have gotten free from an intern or some other power-hungry gold-digger (hey, it's not pretty but it's probably true). For me the biggie is it shows what he thinks of women (supporting prostitution Sick !!?) and that he's a liar . I couldn't trust him to represent me or my state as he should (if I was a NYer) for those reasons alone. Then add the other ones and it's just really bad.

True tolerance is loving someone despite actually disagreeing with them. There is nothing to tolerate if you are not bothered. Honesty and transparency are virtues to be treasured - don't hide your beliefs in the name of tolerance, be honest about where you stand, just do it with love.
