One of the things that still haunt me about my time in Mary Kay is that some of my team members started with large inventory orders. Two of them, in particular, placed Ruby star orders, and I know that both of them still have a lot of product on their shelves. At the time, I was deep in the fog and had dreams of being a director, so my excitement in the opportunity no doubt convinced them they should have a full store. Now I feel like a jerk, and I carefully avoid mentioning anything about Mary Kay when I'm around them. I think it’s about time that I suck it up, apologize and recommend they unload their remaining product on Ebay or the trading boards. I can see clearly now, so I should probably share with them what I know. Does anyone else feel this way about former team members?

Honey, I feel that way about my entire unit! OMG I can't tell you how many times I have wondered if my former unit members are on this forum...the things I said that I know were so wrong and hurtful... But, one day when I brought that up on this forum, I got a flood of responses encouraging me to let go of the guilt. We all spent time in the fog, and I know I was one who stumbled in the fog for a few years. Know that whatever you do, they will sense your sincerity, and that will be so different from what they experienced in MK (not necessarily from you, if you know what I mean) that I feel confident they will be grateful. Good luck, and know that you're not alone!

Velocity, I, too had a large team with lots of heavy inventory...........the guilt almost kept me from throwing in the towel, but I came to my senses and rather than call each person individually, I sent an email out to all of them. here is a copy of that email:
Hello Ladies! It's been a while since I communicated with any of you and I apologize for not being more involved. I took some time off this summer to get myself back on track and after much consideration I have made a decision to no longer be involved with Mary Kay. My status with Mary Kay will not affect your business or your ability to order from the company. Please know that this decision weighed heavily on me and I apologize to those of you I may have let down. Although I will not release details of why I made my decision in a bulk email, I'll be happy to speak to any of you that have questions--just send me an email or give me a call! I'd love to stay in contact with all of you!

several email replies--and a couple of phone calls--I didn't mind speaking with any of them........mostly the response I got was "glad to see that we've got the old you back". Several of those women had acutally been podering sending product back to the company for some time, but had not because they did not want it to affect my success in the company, so it was relief all around.

Thanks ladies - I appreciate it so much! It feels good to know that I'm not the first person to face these emotions, and sadly I'm sure I won't be the last. I may also try out your email, Done. I'll let you know how it goes.

Velocity, oh boy did I feel guility. But, I did contact each one of them (9) and tell them what was going on. I also made sure they knew how they could get rid of crap they had. I also, told them all how to get things they may still want. HERE!!! I explained ladies here needed help and they could help them. Everyone was greatful I was honest with them.

Luckily I didn't recruit many people, so it was easy for me to sit down with each one and explain my thoughts and feelings and they were all so understanding and receptive. I actually gave them the links to this and MK Sucks! I did feel so guilty though, but we've all talked and healed together!
I really like Done's email a lot. I had a director step down while I was in and she sent out something similiar and it really was a nice personal touch, not to just disappear and people talked about what was really going on.

I had 5 team members but all dropped out but one. She is still in -- but she is doing well and working her business the right way. I continue to encourage her -- but have told her at any point that it does not work out for her any longer -- she can send it back.

My team members all but one followed my lead. Two of them that I know still have some product, but we have worked to sell it off and donate some to reputable woman's shelters. Yes, there are still times I feel guilty.
