I don't think that is true just of MaryKay. This is a business of sales and why be in it if you are not going to do what it takes. But many don't have the self image to pursue and do what a saleswoman/man needs to do. I was this way when I first began. It didn't come natural for me to be assertive because of the way I was reared. But praise be that I did rise above it and can now pursue and not let it bother me. Because if it does it is faulty reasoning and will eat your lunch as far as your paycheck is concerned. As Mary Kay always said.....you can have anything you want as long as you are willing to pay the price. I don't buy much of what I am reading on this site. So I should unsubscribe.....I don't think many of the posters are taking full responsibility and be willing to grow....instead are blaming. but at least I now know to say "NO" and NO DOES NOT MEAN MAYBE, IT MEANS NO, NO. NO!!!!!!!
You know in rape prevention materials, they teach that No means No. But in MK they teach No means maybe or ask again. No wonder some women have low self esteem and feel bad about themselves. Just another reason why MK sucks!

I would move along MerryKay, because you won't find fluffy pink clouds or propink thinking here. This site is for those individuals looking to find the real truth behind Mk Cosmetics, and that truth isn't pretty. Its not a blame game, its the truth. If you're looking to stay happy in the pink fog, I would definitely unsubscribe.

So tell me MerryKay, twice now you mentioned that all the negativity here makes you think that you shouldn't be here. I am sure that you read a lot before you decided to register. That being the case...the 'negativity' didn't get MORE negative AFTER you registered, so I am curious why you would register at all. Seems to me that maybe you are subconsciously reaching out for help out of the pink fog. Do you want us to beg you to stay and give you a chance? Well that won't happen, but we will welcome you back when your pink bubble shatters around you. Until then, best of luck to you and I agree with Velocity, it IS probably best that you move along.

Oh, MerryKay... This is NOT a Mary Kay support group! We have all been scammed, and are healing and preventing others from making our mistakes. There are numerous formers directors on this board who lost thousands of dollars and years away from their families because of the pink fog...
Please READ for a bit before you post... Read our stories and then comment without judgement. Once you see our experience and the level of our intelligence, the "you didn't work it right" comments will go away...
Trust me, we worked.

MerryKay, MerryKay, as I sit here attempting to pay monthly credit card bills I accumulated in 4 years of MK I get sick. I consider myself an intelligent, logical, and in a reference you will comprehend more, a very high C personality. I want the facts not the company line. When the euphoria dissipates and the fresh air can reach you, you will be back for the support available here from many who have walked the pink path before you. But in the interim, please read and do not post. "Listen" to the words of experience and learn.

What I've learned the most is that if you hear a little voice saying it's wrong--LISTEN. I felt bad bugging my friends, always asking, making friends just to interview them, etc. But I pushed the feeling aside because when you hear at meetings, read applause, etc., it makes you feel like it's right. But it's still not right. I feel like I've grown up while in Mary Kay, and I've learned when to say when. And that no not only means no, but also that they wished you had never asked in the first place. Blaaaaaaaaaaeeeeck!

I love this! Okay, I learned a TON in Mary Kay (and while getting out of Mary Kay): 1) Self Confidence (I am overweight, but realized that does not define my self worth) 2) Grew a Back Bone (you have to at some point in the process) 3) Became closer with my husband (as he walked through the financial aspect with me) 4) Taking Care of myself (no longer in yoga pants and sweatshirts with my hair undone and no make-up... I look nice!) 5) Found what was truly important (as directors shoved materialism down my throat and I kept resisting what they were saying - they were trying to instill a sense of it in ME, but I am NOT materialistic) 6) Made some amazing friends that will be lifelong friends (many of whom have decided to quit MK as well!) 7) Confirmed that my true calling is teaching children (not teaching women skincare lies)
AND MUCH MORE! That's great! I love reading these posts!

I've gained the ability to do makeup better.
I think I gained a little bit of self esteem from this.. I think part of the reason why I got in was because I had some serious illness over the summer and was recovering from PTSD and getting my life back.. MK seemed to fill a need for me. I'm still happy in MK, I just wish I hadn't spent so much initially because I would be in the black by now if I hadn't. I defintiely do have my eyes wide open now though.
