snowmnI have heard through the grape vine that when a director steps down, she is told by her higher ups to sort of fade away and not attend any events for awhile. That her presence will spark questions from other consultants as to why she is no longer a director and put a negative spin on the event. Is this true? Or is it that once a director steps down she is so sick of the junk that she fades away on their own? In one year the unit I'm in has lost at least 2 directors. I have talked to people in other units and they've had directors step down in the past year also. This tells me that all is not well in the pink kingdom. Is this a recent thing that directors are stepping down, or has it occurred all along? I'm not a director nor will I ever be one. Too much hassle for the $$ you get.

I know in my area it always sparks questions when someone shows up in their red jacket instead of a director's suit. I've never heard that a former director is asked to stay away, but I wouldn't be surprised if this is done in some areas.

Not a recent phenomenon by any means. Directors drop like flies. It's been like that for a long time. The reasons why are a whole other topic. When I was a director, I saw more directors come and go in under 6 months than I saw stay in my whole time in MK (years). And no one ever mentions it after they're gone - like they were never there at all. Very Stepfordish.
You're right in some cases they may be asked to lay low, but more often than not, ex-directors are treated like pariahs. Or more like lepers - whatever "sickness" they have that caused them to lose directorship might be catching, so Sr Directors make sure their baby directors and DIQs stay far away, lest the ex-director actually tell the poor things the TRUTH about directorship.
Other directors are so mad/sad/embarrassed, just emotional drained, that you just want to be away from all that. That was me. But, none of my former director friends kept in touch anyway - just the other ones that had quit, and one who sort of mentored me, but was not in my area, so she had no financial attachment to me either way (though I don't think she would have lost touch either way - she's a genuine woman, hard to find in directors these days!).

How long are you a director before you have to go thru DIQ again? Just wondering. My director debuted about a year ago.

You'd only have to do DIQ again if you lost your directorship (couldn't meet quotas) or stepped down from directorship. Then, if you wanted to be a director again, you'd have to go through DIQ again to qualify.
You have a minimum wholesale unit production you must meet as a director ($4000 wholesale per month). If you have a car, it's more to avoid making payments on the car.

Two directors in our area stepped down. My director's Sr. stepped down. Our director told us that it was time for her to break away from our "mother unit" and flourish on our own. It was only recently that I found out that her Sr. had stepped down. Then the winner of the platinum vibe at Carreer Conference stepped down from directorship because of lack of team production.

I remember when one of the directors from our meeting just suddenly stopped coming. I was bummed because she was really entertaining - her 'real' job was acting locally in plays and productions. She was also professionally voice trained.
I asked one of her unit members what happened, and she gave me some vague response about it being time to move on in her life or something. I was shocked (at the time) because just the week before she seemed 'soooo excited.' PLUS, she was a Senior Director - and her offspring was THE #1 in our National Area (the national is a big time, record breaking national who is local to us geographically) for recruiting and ordering... we're talking tons and tons of people. Her offspring was in the running for queen of recruiting (top 10) for Emerald and she had been in the company 1.5 years! So I couldn't understand why she would walk away from that, either.
Now I get it. I sorta hope to bump into her here, because she was really cool... probably the closest thing to genuine person a director can get and still be in the company.
Her leaving opened my mind to the idea that it was OK to leave MK... Thank God for her.

I also know a lady that was a senior director and she stepped down. This was before I left. Anyway, I really liked her she was nice and lots of fun to be around! I can't wait to bump into her one day so I can see what the truth was about it all. Actually, I'm sure her hubbie will do our taxes again, so I'm sure I'll find out then.

We had a number of directors "disappear" only to be told that they were starting their own meetings. But when I found out one of them was no longer a director and then no longer a consultant I was very surprised. She blew all sort of records 3 years ago. She was a banker in a supervisory position at a BIG bank. I would love to know what happened to her. I really liked her and hope she is okay. That is when I began to watch the directors in my unit, the high "C" in me, and what was happening. My director was set to go into NIQ Nov 2005, then June 2006 and she is still working on it. She lost a few directors. But the big feather in her hat is Allison LaMarr who just debuted as a NSD after being in MK only 3 years.
