Becoming a Seller on eBay

You may have bid on lots of items on eBay. But in order to start selling your merchandise, you need to create a Sellers account. Makes sense, doesn?t it?

If you already have an eBay user I.D. you can follow the link below, sign into your account and proceed to register as a seller:

eBay Seller Sign In

In order to sell on eBay, you need to provide a credit or debit card. If you do not have a credit or debit card, you can provide information so that eBay can verify your I.D. This procedure costs $5.00

Ebay charges fees for listing your items and a final value fee that is collected after your item sells. These fees will be itemized in your account and eBay will charge your credit or debit card monthly for these fees.

Want to be a good Seller?

Of all the things you can do to get started on the right foot as a seller on eBay, there is one thing you can do that is most important.

What is it?

Buy.

Huh? you?re saying.

Let me explain. The eBay community is driven by their Feedback system where users rate each others performance. If you haven?t bought a thing before on eBay, your feedback rating is zero. If you have made a few purchases, you have a few points.

If you are selling things on eBay, people will look at your feedback score to judge you trustworthiness. If your feedback rating is zero, it will significantly hurt your chances of selling your item. If you do succeed, it is likely your item will sell for much less that it could have. People just don?t trust those who have a low or zero feedback score.

There are several reasons why you should begin your eBay selling venture by buying:
1.   You build up your feedback score
2.   You learn how to use the eBay system
3.   You learn good and bad listing styles

Those are just a few good reasons.

So what should you buy? Well, how about starting with the supplies you will need to process and ship your merchandise: a scale, boxes and padded envelopes, bubble wrap, packing tape.  These items are not only in abundance on eBay, you can also get much better prices on your packaging needs here than you can either at discount stores or office supply stores.

Okay, you?ve bought some items on eBay and have a feedback score of at least 10.

You?ve gotten familiar with the eBay site and system.

You?re ready to start selling your stuff.

Great!

Next well learn how to take great pictures for your listings and how to write effective listing titles.
