I am wanting to get rid of my wedding dress.

Never did wear it, brand spanking new, well, I had pictures taken in it.

Anyway, Do any of you Gals know a good way to sell it.

I heard that they don't do well on Ebay.

Thanks,

You can try. Just set the sell price for the min you want. If it does not sell just costs a few dollars. You have to remember that you really have to want to get rid of it and sell it at the bare minimum. Just get a good shipping amount. Not charging enough can really cost you.

I had went to a ebay place where they do all this for you for a fee.

Do you think that's a good idea, or should I put it on ebay myself.

Is it pretty easy to do?

Thanks for the input.

Have you tried your newspaper? I have no idea what area you live in, but I know there are some local trade papers in my area that are full of things for sale- like, anything and everything.
But, I would also recommend ebay.

As for paying someone to do it for you: is it because you don't have a digital camera? or something like that? YOu simply need to be able to get a few digital pics of your dress, prob. a full length, a couple of detail shots.
Other than that, you simply will have to write a good title  and a description.
I recommend a title, a few pictures, a gallery shot (it costs like 35 cents or so) is worth it, but the other frills are not really necessary.

Its not hard to do- you'll have to set up an ebay acct. if you haven't already, and a paypal acct, and you're ready to go.

good luck-

What are the fees for paypal? Does it cost me anything to get a paypal account? and does it cost for a ebay account?

We have a digital camera but we can't find the cord that plugs into the computer.

I live in Michigan, I could place a ad in the paper, that is an idea.

The reason i was going to let someone else do it for me is,  I don't have alot to sell, just the dress, maybe 1 or 2 star prizes that I had gotten, and some left over Mary Kay that I won't be able to sell back to the company. I didn't want to have to go through all that, just for the few things that I wanted to get rid of that reminded me of my Mary Kay Career  :smiley  I know one place was asking 20% under $200.00, and 30% over $200.00 I didn't think that was so bad, considering the other 2 places want 33% under $500.00.

Candlegirl, In the past 30 days I have made about one thousand dollars.I am selling archery supplies I am discontinuing from my store. Paypal only costs when you have something added to the account. Its about 4.00 per 100 bucks. You dont need the paypal persae. You could accept a check and not ship til it clears. I have used the Ebay sellers and really lost money. I sold one of the same things I gave them for twice as much and I keep all profits. It wont take much to do a few items. I do about 30 auctions a week. So it takes me a couple hours but I keep it all. Or get a friend with a paypal account to do it for you them she gives you the money minus any fees. Oh yes..there is a fee from Ebay but all said and done it will cost under 15.00 to list and get the money depending on the price of the item.

Hey Lori,

Thanks a bunch for the information, very educational.

You have sold me, I think I will put my wedding dress up on ebay myself.

From what you told me, I think I'm getting a better deal doing it myself than depending on someone else to get me my items sold and the monies for it.

Its really easy. You can always have someone else take pics of your dress and email them to you. Then posting is easy. If you need anymore help let me know. I'm no expert but I'm actually getting my money back that I put into the stuff. I would also check into the shipping aspect. You can really lose there if you dont charge enough.

Lori -- you sell archery equipment??  My husband and son are in West Virginia as we speak at the IBO World Archery Championship (they both qualified).  They are archery nuts!!  Do you have a specific name/tag that you sell under?

Lori -- They'll be back on Saturday or Sunday, and I'll definitely tell my husband to check out what you are selling.  He's always looking for archery equipment.   Thanks for the info!

I have other stuff thats not on ebay too. I'm just doing some every week. I have to say that none of it really goes to the end of the auction. They all do buy it now!So if there are things he wants its all workable .i just want to get rid of it.
