I checked the book "Cookie Craft" by Valerie Peterson and Janice Fryer out of the library.  I highly recommend this book, if you want to make cut out and iced cookies.  The book is written in a friendly style and is easy to understand.  I made the gingerbread cookies and their royal icing.  They turned out great!

I'm going to have to buy this book, after I turn in the library copy.

Cool!

It reminds me of something I did when I was about 19. I made a bunch of heart sugar cookies for valentine's day one year and decorated each one differently. I also did custom cakes for people. One woman at work asked me if I could make a cake for her dad's bday. He was a mailman.

The cake was shaped like a mailbox and the door was made out of sugar cookie and then I had a bunch of sugar cookies decorate like letters surrounding the cake. Really fun!

I suppose that was a calling....I love to do "food as art."
