Awww, I love Scotties. They are so cute.

I have two black (inside) cats and somehow their cat hair manages to show up on black pants. Riddle me that one.

Julie - bighug  I used to ger poison every year, (I had to get the shots) finally I just gave up on doing any gardening other than in my flower beds and now there's poison around it as well!   :gah:  (I think it's following me!  :wtf:)   There is a soap available over the counter at the pharmacy, but you were right about it being bad this year.  My sister had to get some and the pharmacist told her they could hardly keep it in stock!

Best wishes that it's gone soon!  Margarita

Oh - be SURE to wash whatever clothes you were wearing really, really well.  The oils can be on the clothes and can stick around, even after washing.  I always threw JUST the clothes I had on in the machine, doubled the detergent, added bleach and washed in hot water!  If you are wearing the same thing (ie, gloves), you could be re-infecting yourself!

Julie I am soo sorry to hear you have poison ivy!

Horrible stuff! I'm one of "those" people that are highly sensitive! The last time I got it I ended up in hospital with both eyes swollen shut and poison ivy all over my whole body from a small spot that started on my wrist! I was so quick! You could almost watch the eruptions form on my skin! Sick I have to go through steriod treatments and be very careful that the sores don't get infected! UGH! I had that happens once too! I've been very fortunate to have not had poison ivy in over ten years! Thank goodness for that!

So I hope the product you got works and that you are not too itchy and you heal quickly!

You could very easily be getting the oils off your outdoor cat too!

Lippie's right! Don't burn it! Spray it and wear gloves when you pull up the roots (you can get it from the oils in the roots too!) Hopefully you don't have too much of the stuff on your property!

I feel for ya girl! I really do! Love Love

Julie, you better call your doc or go see him, if it gets worse over the weekend, you won't have access to anything but the OTC stuff, which doesn't help if you have a really nasty case, especially if it's on or near your face!  Better to be safe than sorry!

I ran into our pharmacy director in the hallway as I was leaving and he recommended Benadryl cream and Ora-gel for the really bad itchies to numb them! I thought the ora-gel was a cool idea. I stopped on the way home and picked those up. If I take a turn for the worse, I'll call my doc. He'll probably call in a script for me if I need it. As a last resort I can stop over to the ED. I know when they tend to be the least busy . wink I don't think I'm gonna have a serious reaction. I think my problem is that I scratch without knowing it, for example when working on the computer alone in my office or maybe in my sleep. Maybe I will wear socks on my hands when I go to bed tonight.  :teehee:

But thanks for worrying, you guys!  :hearts

I have put cotton gloves on at night - it was on my hands.   Seriously the socks would be a good idea!  Best of luck with this, I know how bad I get it!   :nope:

Julie~

SORRY to hear you have a Nasty Case of Poison Ivy.  bighug

To make you feel a little better I thought I would share a story from WAY BACK WHEN ~ my Freshman Year of College.  A few girlfriends and I were at the Football Game and needed to use the restrooms and the lines were too long so we went under the bleachers in the back and just squatted down as the others were look-outs.  You guessed it ~ I squatted directly on one of those Nice Looking Plants and didn't know it until the next day when I couldn't stop scratching and had the funniest looking rash on my rear and upper thighs.   blushing

I had to go to the school Nurse and drop my drawers and she actually laughed out loud and asked what I had been doing outside recently.

In the dorm we lived in we shared restrooms so they quarantine one of the stalls, put signs all over it and Named it the stall for "SquatToPee".

I chuckle thinking back on it now, but it took me 3-4 days to see the humor then.  :laugh3: :teehee:

I hope your case goes away quickly!   :hiya:

That story is too funny...I am surprised that hasn't happened to more people!  It's good you can laugh about it now...but I bet it was pretty embarrassing and uncomfortable at the time!
