Gas is up to $3.75-3.95 here. It went up .32 in one week! I pass 5-6 gas stations on my way to work. The cheap one said $3.65 this morning so I will have to stop there later and hope it didn't go up. I have tried to make it a little less painful by filling up at the halfway mark. I heard on the news this morning that people are having trouble and are late paying their electric bills. Ugh! I use a woodstove and that helps a lot. It's been nice and warm the past couple of weeks but is getting colder. My heat was on this morning. The gas prices have definitely affected my driving habits. I will think twice about taking day trips or shopping trips outside my own town and trying to find fun activities close to home. I am sure this will be a slow summer for tourism which is a bummer. I pretty much skip restaurants these days (not lost any weight though yet grrrrr) and shop the sales with coupons. I need to start taking my lunch to work. Probably the one area of spending I haven't cut is buying lunch...and I don't even like the food in the cafeteria all that much most days. On my old job I used to go to lunch with a friend almost every day so I got in the habit of buying. I can definitely cut this down to one or two days now and bring my lunch the other days and that will save me a few bucks. My dog passed away and I have held off getting another one. I was thinking about that today because I would have been going to the vet for heartworm and all that. I miss my dog and would rather have her with us still but I have to say it is nice to think all I have to do is take kitty up to the free rabies clinic and I am done. This time last year I know I didn't spend this much time thinking about driving, eating out or vet bills. It's hard for me to believe it will, but I HOPE this economic stimulus plan WORKS!

Thank God I have given up MK. With these gas prices I would not like driving around to deliver $20 worh of product anymore or to give a class where only one person shows up!

Oh Geez! Can you imagine? Those dumb weekly meetings were an hour from me! I only made it one and decided it was too cheesy for me to spend gas on and that was 2005!

Oops I meant "made it TO one." My one and only meeting. I was so overcome with the memory I could hardly type ~* NOT*~ I also drove 45 minutes to my meeting and I went every week for over a year until I decided I could not stand my director and then decided to find an adoptee director so I could go to another meeting. Then I went to that one for over a year. I drove there on my Birthday once, got caught in traffic and got back too late to catch the Yankees win the World Series! What are the chances of that ever happening again, your favorite team winning the WS on your birthday??? I was so brainwashed! I can't believe I did that! Never again!

Oh my cats, surrender! That is horrible! There is no way I would go to a meeting if my Rams were in the Superbowl or on my birthday. I hated the stupid songs and stuff so I wouldn't go if it was raining, or sunny, or after dinner.... I am glad you are not doing that to yourself anymore and I hope you have a super great birthday this year that makes up for that!

Oh, for crying in my milk! The highlight of my week was getting gas at the cheap station for $2.69 while everywhere else here is 2.75 and up. Only to pass a station afterwards that I rarely ever drive by where it is $2.67. At least I know where the cheaper cheap station is now. Why the next town over sells gas for around .10 cheaper than my town is another mystery best saved for when I have had coffee. Oh, the devastation. Suddenly the once everyday and mundane errand of filling up has become an emotional roller coaster ride. Is it football season yet?

Up to $ 3.65 gallon. Our "country store" was almost out today & called, they are buying it for $ 3.55 and that was todays price, said it could be more by tomorrow when they can actually get the order placed.

Julie, you're still in the $2.somethings? I had to gas up the old soccer-mom-mobile today and it was $3.839/gal for the cheapest. The kids now ride the bus to school, needless to say, and esp. since it's been warmer, we walk to the bustop to get them instead of driving (it's down the road).

Ooops no, I meant $3.67. I guess my brain just can't handle it and would only type the 2 and not the 3. Now if I really believed in the Secret then maybe my subconscious is bringing about lower gas prices. That would be sweet. I remember when it got to $2.99 a gallon and I was flipping. LOL Now we are at $3.75 for the cheapest.

Gas around Albuquerque is about $3.50 a gallon -- crazy since we have oil wells all over the damn state!
And surrender, I also feel your pain! I would DIE thinking about missing a great game (on my birthday, no less) for a dumb scary kay meeting...
*highjack* Julie, did you hear about Issac?? I am crying...
I am making all kinds of changes as well to save money. Since I am making less this year, it is even more challenging! But I try to be creative with meals, do all errands on the same day, very little eating out, haven't been to starbux in months, and on and on...
I am actually having fun trying to save money, but DH isn't! He hates to not be able to just spend what he wants when he wants... I have always managed the budget where he could pretty much do this (remember, no kiddos here), but now I am letting him know how much we have to "spend" each week and it drives him nuts.
I just keep reminding him that we will be debt free in a few years, and then he can get a big ole Harley to tool around in!

Yes, I heard about this when it first happened. I thought the person who told me was messing with me because I hate the Whiners. Now I gotta watch em if I wanna see Ike....he's my favorite. I am glad he's still playing but fie on them for letting him go! Let us raise a salute to the last of the Los Angeles Rams (and the last of my Dream Team...Warner, Faulk, Bruce). Thanks for the memories and super bowl win. BRUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCE p.s. LJ I could not find the crying icon. We might need it when football season starts. sorry for hijacking...well, not really just trying to be polite about it

My trouble is that besides the gas prices, food prices are skyrocketing. I've decided that I need to start growing vegetables in my backyard. We need to start a thread for gardening, so I can figure out how to do this. I'm dead serious. The cost of most produce is so high I no longer buy much. I've got 3 kids to feed and I think if I could grow lots of potatoes in my backyard, it would help out a lot. Never thought I would see this day, but there you are!
