Did y'all hear that Home Interiors and Weekenders went bankrupt? I guess Home Interiors is in reorganization bankruptcy, which means they will probably reopen at some point, maybe under another name. Weekenders just closed it's doors with no warning, leaving the consultants high and dry. People were even signing up and purchasing the expensive starter set right up unitil the last day. How crappy is that?  :matoes:

On another note, I saw an advertisement for Amway on TV. :faint: Yep, "Amway doing business as Quixtar in North America" is advertising right in my living room now.  Bash

Home Interiors too, as you say Julie. How did they even stay in business this long?

I saw the same Quixtar commercial!  It even states right in it that they are "formerly known as Amway".  Wouldn't that be a non selling point?

That's exactly what I was thinking, RTP. Geez! I didn't recognize the name of the vitamins they were talking about in the beginning. Then I heard the name Amway and  I was :fit:

I don't know how these MLMs stay in business at all. Most of their crap is so expensive.

What a con job that was. I snickered at the total annual sales figure they quoted.  I wonder how much of that was frontloading?

Two MLMs shut their doors and I'll bet that two more will spring up in their place.  It's kind of like playing whack-a-mole.  They even have pole dancing and wall word MLMs.  I sure wish the madness would stop!

LOL I saw the Amway commercial too. When it got to the part about its cosmetics being "best sellers" or whatever, I burst out laughing. I didn't even recognize the name/label of the cosmetics they showed.

But when Mary Kay tried commercials it didn't do squat for them, so it'll probably be the same for Amway.

Home Interiors! Is that the one started by that former Mary Kay honcho? Can't remember the name of that one. whack a mole. LOL

Pinkcaddy, their makeup line is called Artistry.  I know this because a former classmate of mine, along with her family and several people from my old church are Quixanders.  They tried to recruit me into Quixsink, I mean Quixtar.

In fact, the presenter at one of their meetings bragged about how she almost threw away a $10,000.00 check and that she used their skincare and makeup line.  Well, I noticed that her skin was all broken out and that the makeup just didn't look right on her.

As I understand it Home Interiors was bought out by Better Homes and Gardens and their parties were held jointly with 2 separate catalogs, so I guess, both are belly-up?

I have a friend who is in Southern Living at Home and she told me this, I assume she knows more about the competition than I do.

Yep, I was curious as to how they get their "sales" figures also.  I do know that they require IBOs to purchase products to achieve a certain amount of points per month.

Technically it's not frontloading (as in purchasing a large amount of product to begin business), but the "forced buying" still equals debt.  So I guess that the result is the same regardless of the method used.

Oh it's even worse. Amway reps are "strongly encouraged" to use Amway products for ALL their household/consumer needs. Other brands like Proctor and Gamble, etc. are seen as disloyalty bordering on treason, and you better hide them when your upline comes to visit your house. God forbid you should be caught shopping at Walmart or Costco. LOL Forget the fact that you could save
50-80% it is loyalty that counts. Remember "you are your own best customer"  :wtf:

Doesn't that remind you of Mary Kay... "You must use Mary Kay head to toe, how else can you tell people how wonderful our products are?" Sick
