My aunt served a 'yogurt' recipe dessert years ago when she was really big into weight watchers that has become a favorite. (I'm not sure what the nutritional content is.)  It sounds really weird but I like it.

Mix sugar free pistachio pudding according to directions; add 1 large plain container yogurt and add about a cup of pineapple chuncks - if you don't use fresh, be sure to drain off excess juice.

There is a brand in the organic dairy section.  I believe it is stonyfields that seems to be fairly "pure".  I am on a low sodium diet so I actually buy the type that they market for babies because it is lower in sodium and sugar etc.

I understand how people freak out about seeing the grams of fat and number of calories in yogurt containers. HOWEVER, as someone who has TONS of experience with severe digestive and Irritable bowel disease, I can say that yogurt is one of the healthiest things one can eat to promote a healthy digestive tract. Yogurt contains lots of good bacteria that help to ward off the bad bacteria that can intoxicate and seriously hurt your body. Don't cut the yogurt from your diet. I eat two Dannon activas a day, along with a probiotic supplement called VSL #3. Also, yogurt can help prevent infection (like yeast infections), especially if you're on antibiotics (which kill ALL bacteria in your body, both good and bad).

This is very true! Yogurt's an excellent way to recolonize a sterile bowel from excessive antibiotic use! Sure beats licking the floor!  :laugh3: Sorry gross nurse humour.....again! :laugh3: :laugh3:

I shudder to think of licking my floor.  With two dogs, hard telling what kind of bacteria is there...I've seen some of the stuff they walk in

OK, Sassy, now you've done it...the dogs will have to walk through a foot sanitizing bath before they enter the house from now on!

I'll stick with my 2 eggs and turkey bacon for breakfast...doing the plain yogurt and adding all that stuff is just too much for me to deal with... :teehee:.  I actually lost weight and do well with eating that for breakfast, eating some nuts such as pistachios or cashews for a snack, something low fat for lunch, then another low fat snack in the afternoon, then a decent supper that does not have anything fried...however, I haven't done too well with that lately, but I am trying to get back in the habit of eating healthier.  Have any of you ever tried almond milk?  It's really good.  But where I live, you have to go 45 miles to find anything organic or really healthy, like the almond milk.  I've heard that you should stay away from soy milk because it's so processed. I've never tried soy milk.  I love to take the almond milk, some ice, and bananas in a blender and make a smoothie.  Add some vanilla in there, too.  That makes a really good and healthy snack that's very natural.

You can make your own almond milk! Grind up almonds in a food processor, add the almond pulp to a jug  then pour your filtered water over the pulp stir and then filter out the pulp (I used cheese cloth folded as a filter)....and voila you have your very own freshly prepared almond milk! Sure would save that 45mile drive! :yummy:

I think all of us have that relative who still makes weird recipes from the '50's or '60's.  Just about every recipe my MIL gave me has potato chips on top, and if not on top, crumbled and mixed in!  Then there is my grandmother who must've been smitten with Jello when it came out.  She had a whole recipe box devoted just to Jello recipes.   :nutzo:  How many things can you possibly do with it?  Nevermind, don't answer that!  :teehee:

Don't we all have our childhood "favorites"?

I remember my Mom making oven fried chicken...dipping chicken (with the skin on it) into melted butter and then rolling it in crushed rice krispies and salt and pepper and then baking it...talk about making baked chicken unhealthy!  We loved it...now I can't think of even doing it...rolling in fat!!!!
