Rockin' and rollin' at the lighthouse!

« on: January 23, 2007, 03:38:26 PM »

I have an idea.  Let's make this thread our weekly weigh in.  Here's how we can do it without it getting too long:

Make ONE post.  Tell us about your goals: Why are you losing weight? Are you following a popular diet plan, or just doing your own thing?

Then, every week be sure to update your weight loss ticker (or your signature) on your progress.  Do it in your profile.  This way, we have a manageable thread and weekly weigh ins at the same time!  Since I am a mod I can help keep this thread manageable.

Here's my story:
After 2 kids, I am ready to get back to my pre-pregnancy body.  Since my husband and I met when my son was almost 2, he has never seen the skinny me.  My goal is to be there, or at least be close, by our wedding anniversary.  I want to be the hot mom on the beach chasing after her kids in a bikini!

The most I have ever weighed was 215, which is what I weighed both times the day I gave birth.  I had success after my son was born with Weight Watchers losing about 20 lbs, but I never could get below 160 and stay there.  Currently I am using the Slim-Fast Optima 'Replace, Combine, Snack & Dine' plan and I am thrilled!  I am also working out 3-4 times per week for at least 30 minutes at my local gym.  My goal weight is 139, which is 1 lb less than what I weighed when I got pregnant with my son.

One more thing - I am 5' 4.5'' tall.

Ok, your turn!  bighug

Okay here's my story...after having my third child 1.5yrs ago I weighed approx 170lbs and I'm 5 foot nothing. I've been working hard at a lifestyle change that I can live with for the rest of my life. So far I have managed to get down to approx 130-135lbs (I don't own a scale) I would like to drop just another 10lbs and tone my body more.

I've cut out all processed foods, I make everything at home, drink plenty of water (1-2litres/day), limit my sugar intake to birthdays and anniversaries. I also eat smaller portions and I take about 1200-1500cal/day

I don't like to sweat...so yoga and walking on the treadmill are my exercises of choice.

Lifestyles changes are hard work! I found it even harder than quitting smoking! There isn't a day that goes by that I don't crave something bad from my old lifestyle...whether is a big mac or that tasty sweet treat. I know it's all in my head and if I do give into temptation...oh well I'm human (I usually feel crappy physically)I get back on the bus to health cause tomorrows a new day!

I'm also doing this for my daughter..she is my angel and she deserves a good role model...a realistic role model not one out of a magazine. I want to be able to teach her about healthy living.

Here I go...

I am 5'2" and before I had my ds I weighed a whopping 98#.  I looked like a twig with a butt!  Two weeks after buying my first (and ONLY) pair of size ZERO jeans I found out I was pregnant!  My metabolism hit a brick wall head on during my pregnancy (both actually) and I gained 52# so at birth I weighed 150...UGH!!!  I lost all the weight after my son because I got a job in a hotel which required me to go up & down a flight of stairs about 60+ times a day.DH wasn't thrilled because he likes me with some weight on.  I plateaued at 112 after getting a job driving auto parts around town. THEN came dd and all the weight back with her.  Bash <----I just love this little guy!!

Ok, to make a LOOONNGGG story a bit shorter...I would like to get to 120 - 130 (dh says he'll divorce me if I go under 120  giggle)  I sit behind a desk ALL day, home is just crazy and I don't live in a neighborhood that has lights or sidewalks so evening walks are out of the question.  We have a great weight set, but I am not a self motivator and am not sure what excercises would be best on the machine.  I really don't like working out in front of dh either.  SO right now I am adjusting my eating habits, trying to remember to do desk excercises (Thanks again Mlle  *wave) I haven't had coffe in three days and the only caffeine I get is what little there is in my green/white teas. I am drinking 48 to 64 oz of water daily and atleast 32 oz of green or white tea (very diluted-1 white tea bag or 2 green per 32 oz water)

Good luck everyone!!!!  Love  :blowkiss :xoxo bighug

My ideal weight is 148 pounds, but I started to gain weight around the year 2000.  Right know I weight 248 pounds.  So I need to lose 100 pounds.  I want to do it for my health.  Sorry, my height is 5 feet 7 inches.  Love

Here is my story:
I have always been on the chubby side.  I guess it's in the genes. I am Latina and my diet consisted of a lot of rice and beans all my life.  Growing up I was never very active.
I am 5 feet 3 inches tall and I was at 188 lbs at the beginning of January.  I am 30 years old and was not feeling very healthy.  I was diagnosed with VERY HIGH triglyceides in the summer, and was feeling numbness in my arms and pain in my chest.  As you imagine, this scared me.  I have a daughter who JUST turned 8 and I want to get in shape for her.  I want to be around to see her grow up.
I do not like the way I look, as all the fat gathers around my waist.  I detest shopping for myself as nothing fits.

But that will ALL CHANGE.  On Jan.9, I started nutrisystem for help with portion control and walking for exercise.
Week 1: lost 4 pounds
Week 2 lost 5 pounds
week 3:  lost 1.5 pounds, and am currently at 177.5 pounds and very pleased and motivated to continue.

My goal is to get to 130 pounds, which is a goal of 58 pounds lost and I BELIEVE I can do it.  I never belived before, but this time is different.  With nurtisystem, I am eating lots of vegetables and fruits and drinking lots of water.

Thanks for reading and I will keep you updated. smiley

My hubby and I started on a healthy eating / walking program on January 2.  I have lost 16 lbs.  I have between 70 - 80 more today.  Let's keep each other in our prayers.  We can do this -- together!

Countess I should mention that my weight changes took about 1.5 months before I seriously noticed anything....and about 8 months to get to size 6...(I started as a 14-16)....I really should have talked more about the time line, cause it can get real frustrating when you've made changes and you are not seeing immediate results!

Thank you very much for your kind words! :blowkiss :blowkiss

P.S. I choose not to own a scale and go by how my clothes fit...reason? Because if you have access to a scale you will step on it everyday and perhaps your weight isn't changing as fast as you feel it should. Then you start to feel like a failure and soon quit the healthier lifestyle you go back to your previous lifestyle feeling unhappy drowning your sorrows in an icecream sunday....I know I've done this! Kick the scale to the curb!

Hi ladies!  I would like to participate.  You are all so inspirational and I need a kick in the pants to get started.  I'll tell you a little bit about myself:

I am 5'6" and currently weigh 155.  I have had 3 children and with each child my weight progressively went up with each pregnancy (at delivery); 184, 187, 200!  My youngest will be two in May and I can not get below 150.  I was on Weight Watchers after his birth and lost 25 pounds, but with that plan I WILL NOT GO BELOW 150.  I stayed that weight for the last five weeks I was doing the program (and honestly no cheating : )).

I just don't know which way to go.....I think my metabolism has slowed down.  I will be 35 in April and it is much harder for me to lose weight now than when I was younger.  I have an eliptical machine (I need to use it for starters).  Anyone have any suggestions about a plan they are having success with?  I've tried everything lately.......and always give up.

Oh, my goal is 135 pounds......Sorry for such a long rambling post!

Hi unsure, I know sometimes you reach a plateau in dieting and maybe need to mix it up a bit, change what you are doing for exercise and change the foods that you are eating.

I know when I first start losing, I hit a wall for a few weeks and need to keep from getting frustrated and then BAM, I start losing tons!

Best of luck to you, keep us posted!!!!!!!!  :hearts

I'am unable to do exercise due to the fact that I have a cast on my right leg.  Any suggestion for what could I do during this time?

Hi Zaid, haven't seen you in awhile!

There are sitting exercises that you can do and breathing exercises that have you tighten your stomach as you breath and such. If you do a search I bet you can find some freebie exercises on line.  Love

Thank you! All this just sitting around is driving me insane.  It's hard to be taken care of when you are usually the one that takes care. faint
