Bear with me.  I just figured this out, so thought I'd share!

Sometimes I do a quick check of replies in the middle of the day, then when I have more time, I go back and post.  When that happens, those posts don't show up on my "recent unread posts" list anymore, even though I haven't actually gotten in there to read.

On the left hand side of every post there's a little picture that might be pink, blue, etc.  When I've posted in a topic, it has a little tail on the bubble.  When I haven't, there's no tail.

Now I know how to go back and figure out the ones I haven't posted in...hope that helps someone else! Tomatoes for Free for her techno wizardy (NOT!)!

Oh yeah!

Cool Free.

I never pay much attention to those particular symbols most of the time.

So others know what you're talking about, it's the symbol to the left of each topic when you're looking at all the topics on a board.

The little key to these is at the bottom of the board. I attached a picture of it so you'd know what Free is referring to. (clicking on the picture enlarges it to its original size so you can see it better).

That's great Free! What a little techie you are becoming!   giggle

Free - how terrific of you.  I know those legends are at the bottom, but never bothered to actually read them.  Thanks so much!

It's funny, but I feel a deep responsibility to welcome new members as I was welcomed and I've fallen behind lately.  This hint is so helpful.

LJ, don't give up on us, eventually we'll all be savvy about the wonderful tools provided here. smiley

HOORAY!  I'm so glad it helped!  And MPPB (I still love writing your name!  giggle ) that's EXACTLY why I was trying to find a way to make sure I said hi to the newbies!!!

Rock on!  AND I made my first purchase BY MYSELF on EBAY today!!!  :vppl  Gonna fly now!  (oops, wrong song, eh?)

Now UYC, if I could just figure out what the heck BUMP means from the new and incredibly concise rules you posted, I'll really feel up to speed!  :hearts

Bump is when someone posts a reply to a topic, usually with just the word "bump" in it for the purpose of bringing that topic back up to the top of the board. Or you can just use our fun guys.

Sometimes on boards you'll see people use it because they haven't gotten a response, which is a little impatient. But mostly I've seen it used to bring an important topic to the forefront again.

Hey Free, here's another helpful hint for you...what I do when I want to look at replies but can't post right then is click the "MARK UNREAD" button at the top or bottom of every post...that way it WILL come up on my recent unread list.

:bump  <---- HEE HEE I love the bump guys!!

Good tips! You are all way more sophisticated at this than I am. I just sit here and browse.

I need to get with it!
