I think most people who don't like veggies have never had them. If all you ever ate were store-bought veggies, then you've never had a tomato, that's for sure. Things taste better when they're home grown.
A brilliant truth!

We'll be harvesting peas, regular and sugar snap, any day now.
I think once our gardens are producing like gang busters this summer, we should share some recipes to use all of the squash, tomatoes and other things we'll be buried in.

You're already harvesting peas? *iz jelluz* Aw man. I'm in zone 0 or 1 (I forgot which, I looked at it on a zone map once) and we don't plant anything until June 1 at the earliest. BUT, I made a bit of an investment yesterday - I bought a greenhouse! Just one of those makeshift frames with the clear cover over it - but they were 40% off and it all came in a kit. That will help things grow faster. Also, I'm thinking of doing some raised beds - does that help things grow faster? I've forgotten. To put all these things in will cost a little at first, but certainly not as much as year's worth of store-bought produce (less than that, for sure). Hopefully it will yield about that much - but I think I'm being over-ambitious. I figure if I get the setup right then we can do some serious gardening for years to come.

RTP - I visited my aunt this week & toured her "greenhouse" - she has some of the most beautiful flowers! Also in her raised garden beds, she has heads of califlower, brocholi - they were covered with a cloth ? I guess cause it's been cool here lately - would this be for frost? IDK -- They were really big and almost ready for the table. Tomatoes were all caged and she had planted some lettuce for the rabbits. I thought of everyone here while I was there, too bad I don't know much about gardening! She's an extreme "all natural" "no salt" "no butter" etc. We have to find ways to keep her out of the kitchen at family events so someone can salt and butter the mashed potatoes! Otherwise, ...

I'd stick this little gal in the middle of your tomato patch to ward off the frost, if I could! Do you have to cover them?

Cute pic Sass! Love the wall color too! June 1st just won't come quickly enough for me. Each morning and evening I have a 30-45 min. (dep. on how fast I move) chore of toting pots and other containers into or from the garage.
Speaking of weather, did anyone hear or see the tornado in California yesterday? My MIL was on the phone w/ us and said "Boy if I were in Oklahoma I'd think that was a tornado!", but it was, and there was golf-ball sized hail to go with it. Weirdness. It must've been really tiny b/c I haven't seen anything on the news. I have yet to look it up online buy my SIL said she looked up pics of it.

We just ate home-grown asparagus last night. We've had it several times. Yummy!
Peas tonight.

Mmmm I love asparagus! We've been very fortunate to be able to enjoy it too! Heck I like it best raw straight out of the garden!
