Is it just my impression or are men just...messy?

Is it because, as women, we're raised from the time we're little girls to be aware of the cleaning and taking care of everyone and men are focused on earning a living?

It just amazes me sometimes because you can put a woman and a man in the same room and the woman will notice things that the man is totally oblivious too!

No doubt about it, at least in my life.  Now that it's just me and the three males (the girls are away at college) I have actually had to break down and hire a cleaning service.  You can nag until the cows come home, but they do not see their messes.  I have a brother in law and my dad who are both the opposite of this and are total clean freaks, but I think they are freaks of nature!

I live with swine. :nuke:

Unfortunately my girls are just as messy as my DH.  I live with 3 slobs who just don't care how the house looks.  It's not important to them.

Not in this house.  The men are the neat-freaks.

*I* am the slob.  *sigh*

I have to agree, since DH thinks the kitchen counter is where to leave the trash from anything (empty food containers/wrappers, envelopes from opened mail, etc.).  He does help out *alot* but if I want the really gross jobs done right, well just done at all, I have to do them or they just go undone.  He'll do the dishes everyday for a month w/o cleaning out the bottom of the sink or that strainer thingy at the bottom.  Super-Eww.

And this is why I do not bother doing my nails.  :teehee:

HEAVY SIGH!!  I totally feel you SL!!  I am a walking disaster. My dh borders OCD so can you appreciate God's sense of humor in putting us together???   :1lmao:  We always joke that I got all the manly bad habits while dh is the nurturing one.

A cloudy day is no match for a sunny disposition.

Oh Jypso, you are very wrong, your nurturing and your sensitive side are VERY apparent in your beautiful poetry! :hearts

Hubby thinks kitchen table is his closet during the winter and front porch in the summer! (He works a lot outside) Due to his 'cronic male selective hearing loss', complaining doesn't do any good!

Bring on the slop - I've given up!   :gah:

My DH is pretty good with the big things, tidying, shovelling, occasionally vacuuming but I do honesty think that a lot of men just don't see the dirt or mess.....it's like they are genetically programmed so they cannot see small details like dirt in the corners, dirt in sinks and especially small drops on toilet seats!? I think I'm lucky.

Mine sits down. :teehee:  His mother taught him that--with seven kids and one bathroom, yeah....

I'm still the messier of the two of us.
