I love Gold Canyon candles and tried selling them. I wasn't told enough by my recruitter about having to sell a certain amount of product to keep active.
I went inactive without even knowing it. My recruitter bought some of my product. Maybe the loss will help on my taxes.
My recruitter is really good at selling candles. She got to a certain level where her name was on the website and she was able to sign up 5 people without even meeting them! I am happy for her. If I want to buy more candles in the future, I can contact her or I can order from a shop without any hassles about being a demonstrator.
I still love GC candles and can relate to a lot of women who love candles! It is so sad there are products that are really great but involved with MLM tactics.

My guess is that your recruiter is good at selling OTHERS on selling candles. That's the secret to all these MLMs. The higher-ups aren't necessarily good at selling the product, just convincing others how great it is and getting them recruited.

Upyourcadillac, You're probably right about my recruiter although she does do a lot of candle parties. She did join a jewelry company, too and is selling with both companies while doing day care in her home. She is in a group of direct-selling women and they do advertising together. Either way, I don't like quotas or having inventory that sits, so I'm glad I am out of both GC and MK.

OH MAN!!!
So I've never heard of GC Candles before, but tonight i was taking my kid to her dance class, and one of the moms mentions that she needs to pay with a check...then somehow slips it into the convo with the dance teacher that she has her own checking account for "her business".....
next thing you know she's going ON AND ON about how the candles she sells are so fabulous, yadda yadda, and THEN she goes "and I really have to push the parties because people need to see how LONG they burn, and they can't see that through a catalog"...
OMYCATS! (thanks Julie)
I was thinking "YEAH THEY NEED TO SEE THESE AT A PARTY, BECAUSE IF THEY LOOK IN A CATALOG AND SEE THE PRICES THEY WILL RUN"
Sheesh I'm so tired of the MLMs, why don't we learn? 25% commission? BAH.

If we could just buy at our leisure the products we like from these MLM and not be chased down to be "a consultant, rep or whatever", wouldn't that be nice?
I'll still buy Gold Canyon candles, but only when I need them. Yes, they are expensive. They really do last a long time and the scents are wonderful. Been buying them for years since I lived in Arizona.
BUT no more MLMs!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was given one for a Christmas gift this year. Actually, I was given a GC one and a Salt City one too...
*sigh*
At least Salt City has retail kiosks at the mall IF I want to buy them....

Utoh I am strongly considering joining GC and letting MB go. MB (MiaBella) only pays 10% GC pays 25%.I don't like the quarterly minimum tho. Decisions decisions. Wish someone here who is in GC would come forward and tell the real story of being a demonstrator for that company instead of the recruiters story

My advice: If you want to make money DON'T join a direct-sales/MLM. The point of them is to make money for the company.
Get a part-time job or start your own business.

I'd be surprised if these candle companies are doing much business. There are so many alternatives out there (flameless candles, reed diffusers, plug in thingies). I feel much safer with those, especially around little children or pets. I like the scent ports from BB&W. They go on sale all the time. I got 2 for free a couple weeks ago, b/c they were on sale and I had a coupon and the saleslady gave me another coupon at the checkout. I also found some air freshener things with beads for my bathrooms at the dollar store, of all places. I'm with UYC, stay away from the MLM/direct sales businesses. Just my .013 Euro
