To Our Police Force

The alarm clock sounds
Off to work you go.
What the day brings
You just never know.
It could be peaceful
That happens some times.
But it's usually about stopping
even the smallest crimes.
You risk your life
For those you don’t know.
Because that’s your calling
Not for the glory to show!
Whether it’s a small thing
Like a teenage shoplifter.
Or as big as the death
Of a homeless drifter.
“To Serve and Protect”
Is the motto you chose.
And serve them you will
Be they friends or foes.
A sometimes thankless job
That is up until now.
I will show my appreciation
Some way….some how.
May God Bless you all
And keep you safe this day.
To help those who need you
And put the bad guys away!
