I think allegations that Ron Paul is associated w/ white supremacists is probably the same type of allegation the Obama was raised Muslim, trained in Jihad, and just switched from his Muslim congregation membership to a Christian congregation membership about 3 years before running for any political office. Now mind you, there are rumors swirling everywhere, even on real news sites, that may or may not be true - about all candidates. I can see how some could take Ron Paul's statements and edit them to link him to white supremacy, or how real white supremacists would want him in office b/c of where he stands on certain things (although I'm not convinced he takes his stand on those issues for the sake of white supremacy but for valid reasons).
I'm one that would rather watch other stuff than debates, or just be doing something other than watching TV. Why can't they send every voting citizen a "catalog" of sorts, listing everything anyone would ever want to know (with links to find cold hard proof to back up any claims) about each of them? Oh, right, that makes too much sense and would cut the need for so much campaign funding!
PC I think we have to take seriously the fact that the media, even real news media (CNN, etc.), can propogate any idea they want about a candidate by showing just a bit of an interview, or showing a picture and giving their own explanation, basically lying by omission. A perfect example of that is when people jumped all over Obama for not having his hand over his heart during the pledge after a picture of what appeared to be that circulated. The truth is the national anthem was being sung and while the other candidates placed their hands over thier hearts, he refused (which to me is equally disturbing). Some more truth that can be backed by records and proof is that he refused to say the hypocratic oath. There are some pretty serious claims made about some of the candidates (ex. the stuff going around about Ron Paul and Obama) and our grandfathers, great grandfathers, etc. died in nasty battles to ensure we would have the rights we do now. I take voting very seriously & we have to try to find some sort of cold hard proof to back up claims, or else keep in mind they may not be true.
Personally, I believe our media and even our government would like Ron Paul out the picture b/c he is all for reducing the size of the government and putting alot of programs, responsibility, and CHOICE back into the hands of the states and individual American citizens. Without government running every little thing and owning every little thing (or having their hands in the pockets of those who do), it leaves room for competition. For example, if we get a nationwide socialized healthcare system we will be at the mercy of The Man as to what is offered. Big Medical Businnes and Big Pharmaceuticals will only have to meet the bare standards set by such legislation and will try to provide service/product for as little cost as possible so they can skim a little off the top of the gov't funding they would recieve. I, for one, don't believe they would have my best health interests at heart. But that's just one way to look at it. I would love to live in a utopian society where everyone's needs are met but on the other hand I want opportunity. If Hillary or Obama is elected I may move to Canada, because they've been doing the socialist thing for years and have at least most of the wrinkles ironed out.
Oh ya, and here's something interesting, just to ponder - not that it's for sure true: IF Obama was a member of a Muslim congregation and truly converted to Christianity (i.e. he did it for real and not just as a facade), terrorist extremist types would be after him. The terrorist-extremist type of Muslims promise to kill anyone who betrays Islam, esp. for Christianity. Another thought to ponder: the terrorists always said they'd bring us down from the inside out.
Have a great day kids!
