I'm sooooo glad to have found y'all.  WOW!!  Who knew such a wonderful support group existed?!? I got started in this MK mess about 6-7 years ago when my now ex-husband introduced me to a consultant who's still trying to make director.  I was very depressed at the time and I got very excited about being around all these "positive" women.  My ex- decided it was just what I needed and got me started with a $3600 inventory and the MK faux fur leopard print coat.  We divorced soon after and the pink bubble kept me going for awhile.  Now it's the only tie I have left to him and I'm ready to cut it and move out the inventory I've got.  I'm so encouraged by your stories of recovery and am looking forward to the end of the perpetual pink.

Welcome JM, glad to have you aboard! I'm intrigued by the exhusband story, who was the woman he introduced you too? How did he find her?

So how much MK stock do you have left?

Thanks for the welcome!  I'm new to all this technology stuff and have never done the message board thing, but I'm liking it.

Here's more of the ex-husband story if you're interested:  He had this friend that he knew from the bar scene who was a consultant and I met her one night when we were out drinking (highly endorsed by MK right?).  Anyway, after several vodka tonics, I agreed to meet her at the unit meeting for a free facial.  Of course, I was impressed by the enthusiasm and positive attitude.  I loved the way I felt there and I really liked the products and being pampered.  So I bought the roll-up bag!!!  Stayed to listen to 5 Fast Facts about MK and the promises of making friends.  A week later I signed on with stars in my eyes after the director gave me a ride in her pink cadillac and talked up the inventory and all the free product I would get if I came in as a Star Consultant. My ex financed everything so it wasn't a financial hardship to start up.  I really enjoyed selling the product and fell into a great customer base where I worked so things were good for awhile.  I gained a lot of self-confidence and self-esteem.  Hated doing the skin care classes and beating the bushes for new customers though.

But the best thing that ever happened to me was when one of our consultants got the director to let a woman from the Women's Shelter speak about Domestic Violence during an October meeting which is National Domestic Violence awareness month.  She was talking about recognizing the signs of abuse in the women that we deal with, when I suddenly realized that I was the one in an abusive relationship.  Epiphany!! A Ha Moment!!  Lots of therapy and a great divorce lawyer and supportive family and real friends helped me to get out of the situation by February of the next year.  Not once did the MK director call me to see how I was doing!

Anyhoo . . .  . .  .I'm in a new marriage now to a wonderful supportive man.  We've moved 3 times in the last 5 years and I've lost my customer base while "somehow" maintaining a huge inventory.  I got adopted into a unit and can now look at my inventory and remember every time I ordered because the director encouraged us to have some certain new hot product in stock because customers were going to want it.  I tried to get out about two years ago, but got a call from my director who talked me into continuing. The only reason I even found this site was because someone at work approached me about the MK opportunity and said she had been reading on-line about the pros and cons of MK.  She would be my first recruit so naturally I was very excited.  So I immediately Googled it and found some very useful information.  Now I won't recruit her at all but thank her immensely for saving me.

ARGHHH!!   Sick I need to do an inventory and see what I've got but it's probably about $5000 retail.  Absolutely a disgusting amount of stuff!! It's my last tie to him so I want it gone.  I'll get a list ready to post - I do need a few things in trade for a new customer.  I just placed an order in January to stay active and I think I'm ready to send it back, thanks to the information on this site.  Just threw out my notebook full of "sales tips"  Woo hoo!! Here I go!!!!

Welcome Jmaserati.  We're glad you're here.  How wonderful that your potential recruit pointed you to us.  Talk about win/win.

I just have to say:

Quote
My ex- decided it was just what I needed and got me started with a $3600 inventory and the MK faux fur leopard print coat.

Getting a faux fur leopard print coat (even indirectly) from a husband is definitely grounds for divorce. I'm kidding.  Your reasons for getting divorced are quite valid and I hope you don't think I'm diminishing what you must have gone through.  Abuse wears many faces and I'm so glad you got the information you needed to help you understand that.

Anyway, enjoy your time here and I hope you'll be able to get rid of a lot of that inventory here.

 *welcome
