BAHAHAHAHAHA that just cracked me up about Patricia insisting on "FRESH" product directly from the company - but she only buys once a year??? So basically, when she gets close to ordering again she's using products that are almost a YEAR old!! When she could just buy them here on the trading board, completely fresh and new... maybe people really think that buying online means old crap? heee hee just thought that was funny

PC I think that is the MK mindset. I remember I was warned not to buy anything online because it would be old. I don't know for sure but maybe the stuff I sent back to MK corp. will end up in somebody's FRESH order.

Talk about old - I started in 2003, and got product from Scary Kay dated from 2000!!!!! I've gotten more crap from the company (Acne gel that expired the next month for example) than I've ever gotten here. Every trade experience I've had here has been excellent. That whole "fresh" thing is a matter of perspective. I guess it's fresh if they throw it in a box and slap a shipping label on it. I think that's their philosophy. And how much stuff sits around in vats waiting for reformulation and tinting, etc....... And, is your stuff fresh if you ordered it a year ago and it's been sitting on your own shelves? I guess I don't get the mentality. Am I crazy, or doesn't MK advertise that shelf life thing a bit on the short end?!?! OK. Maybe I need a nap before I go nuts!

I know I b*tch about fresh with ebay b/c I have seen people selling the OLD OLD OLD starter kits and saying "you can use this product for your self" bla bla bla. I was like GROSS!!!! Like this one:http://cgi.ebay.com/Mary-Kay-Indulge-Soothing-Eye-Gel-Cream-Treatment-Mask_W0QQitemZ300147348875QQihZ020QQcategoryZ67469QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem The seller has a picture of the old eye gel, with the gold cap (from at least 3 years ago) and says in the listing that it is "Fresh, no expiration date" !!! are you kidding me?? Or this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/Mary-Kay-Night-Solution_W0QQitemZ260156566521QQihZ016QQcategoryZ67472QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItemThat bottle design is from 2 years ago, and they admit that they had it at a yard sale and it didn't sell!! So you know it was sitting out in the sun.... And this one!! http://item.express.ebay.com/Mary-Kay-CREME-to-POWDER-FOUNDATION-BEIGE-2-0-LOT-OF-2_W0QQitemZ110168123167QQihZ001QQtrZexpQQcmdZExpressItemDidn't those pink cases go out, like, 4 years ago?? That make-up HAS to smell bad!!! I really worry about MK on ebay, but not here!

I am currently not active. I am devoted to the products and prefer to get them FRESH from the company. My last order was in September. This September I will place a $200+ order for a year's supply of my family's favorite products. That should last me to next September.
Ergo, it only takes one minimum $200 order per year, to remain personal use.
Even you think you get them "fresh" from the company, I know for a fact they re-send returned inventory back to the consultants. So it might not be as fresh as you think.

MKnot4me, I know that for a fact too. In my MK product return (this past July) I printed and affixed little labels to each and every product I returned (it was $5,000.00) with my contact info and a warning that "this product has been returned to MK Inc. by a consultant under the 90% product repurchase program - if you recieve this old product please contact me at...". I've gotten emails from 2 ladies so far who recieved my old returned stuff. I began in 2004 and some of the things they sent me in my 1st order were just about at the end of their "shelf life". I trust the ladies here WAY more than MK Inc. or ebay. It's all about knowing the seller (well, as much as you can via internet) and getting the date codes. I believe the women here when they say their products have been stored in a good environment (i.e. not in the sun, etc.).

OMG!!! That's completely crazy! I can't believe they didn't even bother to look at what you returned, just shipped it off to the next poor person! That's pitiful and cheap!

ReThinkingPink~what did you do with the information you gathered about MK sending out "old returned product" back out to new consultants??? Since you tracked the marked product and received calls from new MK Reps I would think you could report it to someone ~ that is just plain WRONG, UNETHICAL, etc, etc, etc...... ARGHHHH ~ this one REALLY Bothers me as MK Preaches "fresh product" and that part of the reason a MK Consultant can't rejoin EVER after sending product back is that they "have to dispose of ALL returned product".

Hi Maybpink,
Don't do it!! I currently work at a bank and a lot of my business customers are consultants of MK, Avon, Tupperware, etc.....The truth is that only a few consultants made it to the DIQ level (not even directors). Which means....many of them are still in the PINK hole in their MK/Avon accounts PLUS a load of credit card debts.
If you need products at w/s or less, we will be happy to work with you on PL. Good Luck on your decision.
Thanks, Christy

rethinkingpink...if you have absolutely verifiable proof of this, it would be VERY interesting. Very interesting indeed.
The whole warning by MK corp and directors about not buying items off of eBay, etc because they may not be fresh is a bunch of BULL. It's to scare you so that it will create a seed of doubt in your mind and persuade you to order from the company, hence more moolah for them.
There is just as much if not more risk in buying from some consultants. Many don't handle their inventory correctly. Then there's the risk that they keep it all in the trunk of the car, no matter what the weather. (Don't laugh...I knew two consultants that did!)

Regarding the fresh thing - that is disgusting. I am disappointed deeply that Mary Kay would allow that to happen. Unfortunately, I do not know you rethinking pink, so I will have to take your word for it. I have no reason not to believe you. Although it seems like that could not possibly have been the companies policy, it is disconcerting to say the least. I would definitely send a copy of that information to someone at corporate... I am sure they would not be happy to hear about that! Although hopefully they would want to know so they could fix it.
Regarding whether maybpink should re-sign up, I think the advice here has been understandably selfish.
I am sure that I am not wrong in asserting that most of the people dislike the way they were pressured to buy MK and ultimately to sign up.
Yet almost everyone here has pressured maybpink to buy from the people on this forum. Suggestions of buying from MK directly were shot down.
Personally, if I were in her situation, I would prefer to look at a catalog (online or otherwise), click the items I wanted and know that they were on the way (once a year, twice a year, or whatever the need was) I am not saying that she should or should not. Both seem to be viable options. It most likely would be a personal choice. I am curious if any of you that were pressuring her to NOT re-sign with MK see it that way? If not, why?
Also out of curiosity, maybpink - have you decided yet? I would love to know what the outcome was.

Well, all I had was emails from 2 different ladies saying they recieved items w/ my little label on them in their order from MK Inc. That was back when I was part of a group on another forum that used to be known for being vehemently anti-MK and they all wanted to "sink the pink Titanic" ( ). By the time I got those emails I had moved on and decided not to hold onto all that anger anymore, so I told them to call MK about it, they had the bottles w/ the proof on it, they had the best shot at doing something about it. So, no, I don't have any "proof" anymore. There were people at this other anti-pink forum I used to be part of that claimed to have had that same experience - recieving items in their MK order that had other consultant's reorder label on them. That's what inspired me to do what I did. The only reason I advocate ordering at PL or any place like this is the ease of getting whatever you need, even if only 1 little thing, without having to order up $200 worth of stuff to make it 'worth it'. I hardly have any inventory left to sell so my reasons for suggesting that aren't based on making any money for myself here. There have been times since I quit MK that I have wished I could order directly from MK for certain things, but I've had no trouble getting them here. Most importantly, whether you choose to sign up or not, don't lose sight of YOUR OWN reasons for doing it and remember how you want to do it. Never let anyone else pressure you towards a prize/goal/status and lead you into overstocking/debt. Only order what you have customer orders for or what you KNOW without a doubt you'll sell.

Rethinkingpink,
Thanks for clarifying! I am very glad to hear that you decided not to hold on to all that anger! I am a very HUGE advocate of forgiveness being the most therapeutic way to deal with pain.
I am really intrigued by the idea of MKC re-shipping returned items. I want to dig into this deeper. Are they re-using items that don't have a shelf life? Do they have a strict policy against this that is being ignored by employees in a distribution center? It is certainly fascinating (in a scary, can't look away from a train-wreck like B. Spears, kind of fascinating).
Thanks for sharing!
