Hi everybody!

I did not even realize there was a message board here!

Just thought I would stop by and introduce myself.

I am the husband of a wonderful woman that sells Mary Kay.  I have seen what people are saying about Mary Kay and decided to join the conversation.

I have a blog where I do that a lot.  I will not promote it here (without permission) but I am interested in presenting a balanced view of Mary Kay.

I believe there is good and bad.  It seems difficult at this point to say which there is MORE of (good or bad), but I hope to "get to the bottom of it"

I HAVE been banned elsewhere, so I thought this would be an appropriate place to make an introduction.

This is the first "message board" I have posted on. (everywhere else has been "comments")  I guess I am still a little "green" at the whole message board thing.  They overwhelm me!!!  I have always found this site (Pink Lighthouse) to be very good at presenting the negatives of Mary Kay without being ugly.  I have placed several links to you from my site because of that.  I also have linked to pinking shears - are they still around?  Just today I was trying to get to them (from a google search) and they did not come up.  Any idea why?

Anyway, you guys rock and you will probably hear more from me soon.  (or later).

Hi Pinknight!

I split your post and put it here as well so more people would see it and can welcome you to the forum

Feel free to post about your blog in either the "tell us about your business" or the blog exchange board here. (I'm pretty sure I know what it is.)

I'll have to chime in and cast my vote for the "more bad than good in Mary Kay" side.

Welcome!

Welcome!
I'm new too. I agree with you that there has to be a more balanced view.. this board seems to present things without being too ugly.

 *welcome  PinkNight!!!

This is a GREAT Board and I think you will enjoy it.  You will read A LOT about MK and a little about everything else.

I will definately also put in my 2 cents on the "More Bad than Good of MK".  I think you should definately start a chain on it and let everyone vote and give the Worst and the Best of their experiences.  You might find yourself with a definate opinion on which way it should go after reading what will be written.   :teehee:

Welcome Again and I look forward to having you on the board!

Welcome to the board! I'm sure you will be able to read through and sort out the good from the bad!  :teehee:

I'm also voting for the "more bad than good in MK" column! :rub:  :teehee:

 :ty: for the warm welcome!!!!

Message boards still really scare me is there a :scared: ?

Also I find them confusing.  aw, cmon, i swear I saw a confusy face :(

Anyway, are you guys suggesting I do a post on my site about more good than bad vs more bad then good? or start a thread here?

AM I allowed to start threads here?  I want to make sure that I follow the rules here.  I understand that many of you were hurt by Mary Kay, and do not want to minimize that.

I was reading the post about the creepy neighbor.  Yes, I agree that is creepy.  And stupid on his part.  It made me think about what I am trying to accomplish on my site.  I envision (and have no idea how to accomplish) a sort of "membership" rite that is only extended to those that are willing to sign a "code of ethics" that would include but not be limited to - No stalking, No lying (even a little) about the opportunity, No means No, that sort of thing.

Anyone willing to sign the "code" would receive a unique number that they could put on their business cards.  The number would be linked to a profile accessible online.  (no personal info, just a blurb about them - maybe a picture)  There would be a system ideally for "problems with this consultant" to be recorded much like a users ebay ranking.

Provided that it was free (on both ends), I think it may catch on and become the standard "response" to MLM'ers.

Hi, want to try xyz?
What is your MLMinger #?
Uhhhh... I don't know what you are talking about.
I don't deal with anyone that I can't check out on MLMinger.  Go check it out at MLMinger.com*
Ok - but...
NOT UNTIL YOU HAVE A NUMBER
But I.....
GO GET A @#!$#@ NUMBER.
Ok, Ok,

Well you get the idea.  Like I said, it is a vision I have, no practical business model attached to it yet... we will see.

*MLMinger.com is not a real website and you should not recommend it to anyone YET.

thanks. wink

Your "MLM number" idea is nice, Pinknight, but I doubt it would work.

How are you going to enforce "no lying"? First, you have to define "lying." If a MK consultant calls a customer and tells her that she's in a contest to do 30 faces that month, technically that is not a lie but technically it is.

Mary Kay is sales. No doesn't mean no in sales. Sometimes it does, but most of the time it doesn't.

Stalking to one person is being persistent to another. I'm not sure I've ever heard of a MLMer really stalking anyone. If they were, that would be a criminal offense.

And yes, you are allowed to start threads, or topics, here. That's the point of a forum, so go for it!  I believe the suggestion was to start one here on the "more good than bad" or "more bad than good" and let people throw in their two cents.

Confusing face: he was hidden. ???  (Just type three question marks in a row)

Scared smiley: We had one...lemme look.

Thanks,

I know there are some pretty serious logistic problems, but if I can work through those and create something, I am sure that it would be pretty popular!

Thanks for filling me in and catching me up to speed, I always get overwhelmed with message boards, ??? so much to read, so many people talking about so many things, I have never just sat down and tried to figure it out.  I think I am getting the hang of it.

I may have to get one of these things over on my site, eh?

Countless, thanks for the welcome!
