Remembering VT victims & families forever

« Reply #45 on: September 08, 2006, 02:23:18 PM »

I finally tried it.  I love it!  I bought the medium tan kit.  It was so easy.  I found a Sephora store near me.  I went in.  Tried it.  Loved it.  Bought it.  All this in under 15 minutes.  One of the workers did help me apply it then she left me alone to make my own decision.  Whew!    Thanks ladies for all of your input on this!

Okay, ladies- you've peaked my interest.  So will I like it if I only like natural looks and have super dry skin?

Free - go to the Lynn's Brand Minerals topic, click on the link PC gives and order some samples.  That way - no big expenditure just to try it.  smiley

I guess I am in the minority here...I really didn't like the way the Bare Minerals sat on my face.....I dont know what the big difference was...but I do know that the color was too dark (even the lightest...I am SUPER pale..I had skin cancer, so now I am ANTI sun, and so I am really pale), and I didn't like the brush holding my oils...and I broke out with tiny pimples....I don't know....maybe I will look at it again....but I just didn't like it.

And I am a "all natural" kinda gal, so they were right up my alley, but I just didn't like them....oh well, there is one in every group, guess it is me! LOL

I do still love them- I just got my second shipment- I had to go online a while back and keep extending the shipping date for my second installment (2 foundations and a mineral veil) because it was lasting me soooo long! I think I waited like 4 months, and I'm actually still not out of one of the other foundations, but I am out of my mineral veil- so 4 months is pretty good.
Anyway, w/ my most recent shipment I received a 3oz bottle of their MDFormulations line Glycolic Cleanser- I knew the company said that w/ my shipments I would receive "free gifts"- but I was thinking samples, not something like this to try, so that was kind of cool.
I like the cleanser- it's stronger than the Glytone cleanser I already use, so I wouldn't use this one everyday, but as a weekly deep cleanser-

anyway, I still love the minerals- I've tried someother brands and like them too, like the sheermiracle, but I'm still using the bare minerals for now. smiley
Oh, as for the brushes--oils? I guess you mean from your skin- I wash mine every week, and they stay nice and soft- but even w/ regular makeup, you use brushes, so in that regard I don't see the difference and you should still wash any makeup brushes quite regularly to keep them clean, especially if you break out easily or have sensitive skin--

anyway, if you broke out in a rash like, not actual pimples, you may want to try a mineral foundation like sheer miracle that doesn't contain the Bismuth- apparently some people have a slight reaction to it (little bumps)- I don't so I'm sticking w/ bare minerals for now- just a thought.

Hi SadSadWorld.

I agree with with JustPinkEnough, in that it is probably the Bismuth Oxychloride that was bothering your skin. BE did almost the same thing to my skin. I had a terrible reaction to BE, which you can read about on my website.

You may also have irritated and broken the skin if you were vigrously "buffing" with a kabuki brush, and bacteria can get into the tiny abrasions and give you an actual breakout. Kabuki's are notoriously rough on skin.

Anyway, I hope this helps.  smiley  I'd suggest you try another brand that doesn't have bismuth, and hopefully you'll find something you like.

One of the first things I did after deciding to get out of MK was to try Bare Minerals.  I do love them, they feel great and give good coverage.  But now that y'all are talking about Lynn's minerals, I was wondering if they feel or cover differently from the Bare Minerals.  I would much rather support a small business owner, than a large company.  I even thought about ordering some samples, but right now the idea of samples makes me a little ill.  I've got a big cabinet full of MK samples I couldn't return.  Intellectually I understand it's not the same, but I couldn't bring more samples into my home just yet.
If any of you have tried both brands of minerals I would love your input.  Part of me really wants the chance to play with new stuff, but not unless I'm pretty sure I'm going to like them.

You might want to think about selling your section 2 stuff on ebay. If you are still a consultant, I don't believe selling section 2 on ebay is a violation of the consultant agreement. If you aren't, then who cares!  giggle  But many women would rather them them from someone cheaper than from the CO.....just a thought.

Thanks for the idea, ssw.  I must be part of the dark ages, I've never bought or sold an item on ebay, I've only browsed it a few times.  I'll give it some thought.  Once I get my "love" check from repurchasing, and I'm no longer a consultant, then I might have some stuff to get rid of.
I've thought about donating all my color samples to a local dance troop.  They might be able to use the stuff when performing???

Thats a great idea, but keep in mind that many times they use pancake make-up so it is really dark and strong on stage, so you can see it from far away. I am sure they would appreciate it, but it might not go to use. If you would rather donate than sell, then that is a great idea. You could also think about donating to a senior citizens home, a (I can't think of what they are called, but where they help single mothers find business clothes and jobs-kinda place), a hospital cancer ward, those are just some other donation ideas.

Saved, I have tried Bare Mineral and Lynns Beauty Bliss and they are comparable. I also like the idea of supporting a small business woman. Try her shadows. The colors are so nice on. Also Beauty Bliss is Bismuth free and Bare Minerals is not. I am also trying the new one from Avon tomorrow. So far for me Beauty Bliss appeals more to me for all these reasons.

Just ordered the Bare Minerals foundation, mineral veil, and Kabuki brush--can't wait to get it in and give it a try!  My skin has been going nuts lately (I've atrributed alot of it to stress).  It always is a little finicky (sensitive and acne prone), but I was really hoping it was not the MK foundation causing me current issues.  I recently swithced (again) from the TW comb/oily skin care to Velocity and back to the Classic Basic skin care formula 3 (which seems to be working wonders for my skin)--I guess sometimes the basics are best.  Anyone else have problems with the TW skin care???
