Earlier in the week Nopinkhugs and I commented that our MK foundation looks yellow. I wonder if there was a bad batch or something. Mine is new, purchased in the last 6 months, beige 300, and it looks horrible yellow all of the sudden. I'm not sick or anything, look the same as usual without makeup. This morning I took out my lighter foundation, ivory 100 and it looked horrible too! Way too light and a slight yellow. So I dug in the closest and found my old demos and my old color, antique ivory. It looked better on. Comparing the 3 colors, the antique ivory is a very different hue than the other 2.
When I started wearing MK foundation I was told that every woman needed 2 foundation, 1 for summer and 1 for winter. So I was matched with antique ivory and fawn beige. When they went to the # system, I went with the corresponding ivory 100 and beige 300. Was anyone else taught this or is it something my crazy director dreamed up? Before MK I never did this.
When I made my decision to get out of MK, I told my husband that I would gradually replace my makeup with other brands when I ran out. Now I really want to throw it out! I may not be able to keep my promise on the foundation. Or I'll use the antique ivory demo up.
I wish I had never given up my beloved Revlon Colorstay. I wish I could remember what color I used, but I'm sure since 8 years has passed I now wear a different color. Too bad no drug stores have demo tubes. I'll have to check Target and see if they have demo tubes.

I have typically used the 2 foundation rule, even before MK. I'm an Ivory 104 and Beige 300. However any MK foundation that I used during the summer months always appeared a bit yellow. My director origianlly told me that I was an Ivory 200. The more I used it with the DC 200, the more yellow I felt I looked. So I've gone to the Ivory 104 and DC 200. It seems to even out....kind of. I hate to throw it all out, but ick!

Yep, I agree--one for summer, and one for winter............I originally thought I was a 200 in winter, and 300 in summer, but the yellow just seemed a little too, well...........YELLOW! So I tried the 204 and it was a perfect match (is it possbile my perfectly trained made a mistake, LOL) and the 304 is great for summer time........no lines at all!!! I'm a neutral, though, not yellow, not pink, just stuck somewhere int he middle, so I think they originally stuck me with the 200 cause they just couldn't quite firgure it out (and they had 12 other women to color stripe also). But, I no longer use MK foundation...........I'm on the mineral wagon now and seem to be having much success with it..........just blends with my skin no matter how pale or dark I'm looking on a particular day............sorry for rambling, I'm just feeling unusually chatty!!!

1) What is the mineral wagon? Is it something talked about here? 2) NOTHING wrong with being chatty!!! That is a good thing!!! Where would this site be if we all weren't chatty?!? (psst...I think I'm the one on the right!! )

sorry, finger happy I didn't finish what I was saying! I don't usually put on foundation to go grocery shopping, but I wanted to see if it was yellow today! YEP! I don't know what is going on, I opened the new tube and it looks a little more pink, so I will try it tomorrow. I just have to try before I go get a good one It used to look really good, I would always get compliments on my skin, now it just looks like make up on me Boo I wonder if it is because I haven't been in the sun for a month or so? Going in it today! Suppose to be 79 at my house, was freezing last week! Good ol' Georgia!

I really wonder why we are having MK foundation turn yellow on our skin? Is it us or the product? I know I should working, but I've been looking at foundation on line. Clinique and Estee Lauder have something that sound ok. Anyone tried these lately? I used Clinique in highschool, but I don't remember if I liked it or not.

I am suppose to go get my foundation matched at Estee tomorrow after work, but I know I will want to buy it.
Even if you don't buy it, please post which kind you tried and how you liked it on your face. I thought the Double Wear or Double Matte looked like something I might like. Double Wear got high makes at makeupalley.com. What's the etiquette of makeup counters? What do you buy and how much? I assume they work on commission. I feel like an idiot for even asking. I've been trapped in a pink bubble entirely too long, seriously almost 8 years!

Prescriptives foundation is great if you are hard to match. I have never found a better match than that.
Also, Ulta stores will open the good old drugstore brands and let you sample colors (just ask for help). When my daughters first started wearing makeup, they got out a whole bunch of cover girl and neutrogena colors to sample.
