Okay ladies, I have joined the mineral makeup bandwagon too!!

Look under the post called Beauty Bliss cosmetics in the "Tell us about your business" section here.  Lynn is a fabulous business woman who has created her own makeup and it is awesome!!

I have dry skin and have been very worried about trying the mineral powder makeup -- can it cover?  Can it conceal?  Will it look dry?  Will it be flaky?  And on and on I worried...

Then I ordered some samples from Lynn (great price!!  1.25 per sample!!) and started playing...  It is FANTASTIC!!!!!

Yes I made a mess and yes it took me a few tries to do it right, but I am getting better at it!

Please do yourself a favor and order some samples -- you will be amazed and that MK foundation will hit the trash FAST!!

An Ulta opened near me last week.  But I've never been.  It's on my "to do" list.

Nopinkhugs,

Isn't there an Ulta store in Douglasville by Arbor Place?  They are usually in those big centers with Old Navy, Best Buy, etc.

Otherwise, there is one right by Target on Barrett Pkwy near Town Center Mall.  They just remodeled it.

All I can say is ......  AWESOME! giggle

I just looked on their website--no Ulta at Arbor Place.  crying

Closest one is at Town Center.

I'm sure they'll have one soon, though, the way things are going crazy over there. xtree

another dumb question, I'm full of them today. smiley  Do you need to arrive at a department store makeup counter with no makeup on, if you want to test foundation colors?

Ginger - they'll give you a wipe or cloth to wipe your cheek off to do color testing at the counter. Also, I agree with whomever said Prescriptives is a really good match. If you want liquid foundation, they'll custom blend your foundation for you if one of their regular colors don't match. This is more expensive though because you usually end up with about 2 bottles worth of foundation because of how much they have to mix.

I'm into mineral makeup now as well though, and it's the best thing I've ever tried. I'm using Bare Minerals from Bare Escentuals. Even if you don't have a store in your area, they do mail order (internet or phone). The minerals have no exp date because they never go bad. Looks great no matter what you do, and you don't even need concealer, which I thought I'd never see the day I didn't need a glob of concealer each day! You have to make sure to let your moisturizer soak in very well before applying though. If you have a Bare Escentuals store in your area, they will color test you as well. The stuff lasts forever. I got a foundation in August, and it looks like I've hardly worn it, and I've used some almost every day since Aug.

If you're dry, I don't like Clinique. I used to wear that and it was very drying on my skin (and I used to be quite oily back then).

And yes, except for the colors MK added pink to (the 04s and 05 shades), the rest have yellow to them, and the higher the number, the more yellow, which is why in the beiges you start to see quite a bit of yellow. Robert Jones might have had a bit of input in that (at least he preaches it). He thinks almost all women should have yellow makeup. I think it's too yellow though and ended up with more customers switching to 04 shades after MK did the number system. Jaundice is right!

Prior to MK, I was using Clinique.  I think it was called Pore Minimizer.  I've thought about going back to Clinique, since I have terribly oily skin and I'm prone to breakouts, which sucks at my age!  crying

I don't really agree with MKA's statement that "yellow makes you look more youthful." In fact, if you're cool toned and you wear a yellow foundation you will look ill. And if you're dark skinned and wearing a yellow undertone instead of red/blue you will look gray. Death-warmed-over anyone?

She may have meant that a golden tone is akin to a tan which can provide a concealment of fine lines and wrinkles. Or she may have just been off her rocker,  giggle  giggle.

BE is kind of on the same kick with "Warmth". However, if you're neutral or cool toned, like me, you look like Bozo the Big Orange Clown. It is not a good look, and it is anything but youthful.

I do want to mention that it is really hard to keep foundation colors from going yellow or orange. A lot of manufacturers have the money but still don't make true skin toned makeup. Covergirl has lavender (???) undertones, Clinique goes orange, etc. Of all the brands I sampled when I was developing colors none had more than 2 or 3 colors that were wearable. While it's true that many women have yellow undertones, they forget that we're not banana yellow (most of us anyway; there are some women, especially Asian, that need "banana" colors).

Anyway, just my  twocents

Yeah!  I'm free of MK foundation.  I couldn't take it anymore.  I went by the Estee Lauder counter on my way home from work.  I am now the proud owner of Double Wear in Fresco.  I still want to try Lynn's mineral foundation and will order samples soon.  But at least I have the EL foundation and it matches my skin tone, what a concept.   rofl rofl  I also bought the foundation brush.  Seems like everyone (excpet MK) has these.  I've never used one, but I'll give it a try.  I also got a gift with purchase (it was a purchase with purchase).  It had the lipstick she used on me and I was going to buy it anyway.

I'm not big on the brownish purple eyeliner the lady used on my lower lids, but I usually only wear liner on top.  I really enjoyed trying new things and colors.

I'm a minnerals girl, through and through!  I use bare escentuals (cuz I have like a lifetime supply) but it makes my nose itch (bismuth) not bad, I'm just "aware" of my noise giggle

I have used Lynn's minnerals foundations and LOVE THEM and they do NOT make my nose itch (or any other part of my face).  You can order samples of them at www.beautyblisscosmetics.com -- samples are like $1.25 and last 5+ at least days.........it's amazing how much you can get out of a little tiny container smiley
