Ginger, that's a good question........I had no idea there was a difference!  I'll start reading the labels of the products I've tried and see if I can come up with some similarities........thanks for the suggestion!

Quick Question to those who use the MK Sunscreen.  I was originally told that due to the chemicals in Sunscreen that the MK Version was bad after 1 year even if unopened?  Is this true or what is the shelf life on it?

THANKS ~ seems the more I learn about MK the more I question what I was told when active.....

Yeah, I heard that too dkeys. Anything that has an SPF or benzoyl peroxide (did I spell that right?) has a shelf life of about 12-18 months I believe, and this includes more than MK - that's why you should replace your sunscreen every year (dang it, my mom was right about that!).

I cannot wear sunscreen on my face, PERIOD.  Everytime I try a product with suncreen, I breakout like crazy and itches.  I have even noticed with the Bare Minerals that the foundation is causing me some issues due to the sunscreen.........I don't know what to do!!!  I just moisturize well, day and night, and have started wearing shades and a hat if I'm going to be in the sun for long periods of time.  Sunscreen does not seem to bother any other part of my body.  Any other suggestions???

My sister has many, many skin difficulties and this is one of them.   She swears by a facial sunscreen product that Burt's Bees makes.  I don't know the name of it - I have never tried it.   She wears it daily.

I use sunscreen on my face everyday.  I wish I had known to use it sooner because now I have age spots on my face that are hard to hide.  So far, Lynn's apricot corrector has hidden the best, but I have to apply it after my foundation to get the best coverage.
My 13 year old uses sunscreen everyday, hoping she won't get the spots I have.  She takes much better care of her skin than I did when I was her age. bounce

I wear it everyday too. I am like you savedbypink, except I got lines instead of spots even harder to hide.  crying That is what I get for playing golf for a whole season without sunscreen.  pieface I like the Eucerin sensitive skin care. It is a light moisturizer with sunscreen. I might have to stop using this with mineral makeup but the makeup has sunscreen in it.

For my body, I use NoAD. It's cheap and works pretty well. I slathered myself with it when I went to South beach two years ago. Dummy me fell asleep at the beach so I could tell it worked and all the spots I missed too.  giggle

I  Love Love Love Love the sun and it is so bad for the skin.  crying

I am of Scot/Norwegian decent and therefore very fair.  When I go out in the sun I burn, hurt, peel and then I look just like I did before I burned.  So I do use sunscreen any time I will be outside.  If I do not have sunscreen I am covered up.  Now here is a twist, my Dad suffers from melanoma and the doctor prescribes a VERY expensive Rx ($200 for a small tube).  Guess what he uses and finds it works better than anything he has tried, including Rx's?  MK Sun Block SPF 30.  He has on tube in each vehicle so that when the sun begins burning he lathers it on.  He also likes it because it does not smell and is not greasy.  This is a big deal considering he was "oilfield trash" but now retired.

That is what I was told also--replace your sunscreen products every season. Not a big deal anymore, but I can see what a major pain this would be to someone who has been frontloaded with a boatload of MK. Aaaaarrggg. I know a lot of people have day solutions around. Those seemed to be too heavy/greasy for a lot of people and cause breakouts. I knew they should have just put the dang SPF in the foundation like everyone else, but who listens to me anyway.  rofl

I usespf 30 everyday--- it just has to be the right kind. I'm not going to put some coppertone on my face-- it's way to thick.
I have some of Paulas Choice essential moisturizing spf 30 (bought it for my husband, but I use it some too) and I have Estee Lauder spf 30 antioxidant sunscreen (long name, I posted about it in MU favorites and finds)  which was recommended through the paulas choice newsletter-- I love both of them. The paulas choice product is actually better b/c it has no fragrance. It doesn't feel heavy, and she makes it in a non-greasy for oily skin formula as well which I'll prob. try this summer.
I have used spf everyday for years, and I am trying to get my husband to use it everyday, not just during the summer, for photo-damage control, not just sunburn control.
Look for a sunscreen that has at least 1 of th efollowing ingredients: avobenzone (aka parsol...), titanium dioxide or zinc oxide- the above mentioned both have at least 2 of thos ingredients- in order to actually protect against uva and uvb. MK was sincerely lacking in this department accept w/ their Timewise w/ spf, but it was thick and yucky.
these are great products that I mentioned- and the paulas choice brand is a huge bottle for not a huge price- it's a bargain.
