I've really been wondering about the age-fighting and anti-aging hoopla.  Is it for real?  Thanks Baroness for your input on that.  I'll check out the Consumer Reports site you listed.

As I've mentioned before on here... prior to MK I had NO skin care program... so of course MK appeared to be doing me a world of good.  BUT... my mother is 65 years old and has lovely skin... she has been using MK for a few years now, but she had beautiful skin prior to MK.  My grandmother always had nice skin too... even in her old age... and she used NO MK.  So... I'm thinking that good skin just runs in our family?  Plus... we are careful to protect out in the sun... I know that's a BIG deal.  (I know someone who was an outdoor lifeguard about 20 years ago... got SO dark every summer... now she is in her late 30's and full of facial wrinkles!)

I used Oil of Olay before MK, and I can say that there are lots of good products out there. The only reason I'm still using MK is because I've got over $5000 of it in the basement. It did make a difference in specific targeted areas (eyes, forehead), but there are several other products on the marketothat will do the same thing for you. For me, I do like the TW skin bar, and the new Lotus & Bamboo skin stuff, (not so much the red tea & fig), but again, I can still get that elsewhere. I am sticking with what I've got now, it does make my face feel good (and look lots better than before when I was hit or miss in my regimen), so I have no major reason to switch again. I guess I'm a creature of habit. :kickme:

Oh, I did forget one other product that works wonders - St. Ives Apricot Scrub for Acne Prone and Blackhead Prone Skin.  The old formula came in a blue and white bottle; the new comes in a peach and white bottle.  Both work well, but the older formula REALLY clears the skin.  Both visibly tighten those pores on either side of your nose and they are not drying.  Besides, you can get it at any local drug store and it's not expensive at all.  I usually get it for about $7 or $8 bucks.

The MK Oil Free Moisturizing Gel is fabulous too.  I like to mix a drop of the MK Tinted Moisturizer with mine, mix it in my palm with my finger to let the color blend evenly and they glide it over my face.  It goes on so effortlessly and very evenly and it saves me a step in the morning.

I don't think you need to keep using MK - what really matters is what works for you and keeps your pocketbook happy, too! :coool2

Now to answer the MK skincare personal results question:  Mine has been hit and miss, but mostly a hit.  Without it, I always end up with acne, even with routine care.

MK Basic worked fine for me.  Then I moved out of Mommy's pocketbook and couldn't afford to buy it on my own.

Finally tried MK again when I had more money, once again had good results.  Then their new day/night formula came out (90's formula) and I ended up with adult acne again.  Stopped using those right away but kept the skin care.

Stopped using MK when I ran out in 1996.  We moved to the desert and I did not know how to find an MK consultant.  I used something from the local day spa which was a bit drying but at least kept the acne at a minimum.

Then, one of my piano-student parents (a consultant) talked me into trying the new and improved TW, so I did, and friends complemented my skin within a few short days.  I added the anti-aging day/night solutions after a few weeks.   I have noticed my skin is less smooth when I cut back on my day/night usage, so I am sticking with it.

I like they eye products when I'm tired and have baggy eyes, but that's really the only time I use them.  I really like that soothing blue gel the best, though it takes longer for my skin to absorb it.  I think it gives me the same results for a smaller price.

Lip primer?  Ha.  Lip liner works best for me.
Eye primer?  Double Ha.  Makes my shadows oily and collect in the crease.

The TW bar and oily skin moisturizer are keeping my teen kids out of the dermatologists office.  They had horrible nodule acne no matter what we used.   Velocity doesn't cut it for them.

Have fun finding what works for you.   :d0g:

Well, I must admit, I'm with BaronessvFP when it comes to MK.  She already stated the point though, so I won't make you all sit through a repeat.  As much as I don't like MLM's or MK especially, I did keep about 9 months to a year worth of the TW for combo/oily for myself even after returning product to MKC.  I knew I might need backup while trying out all the glorious options out there in case I use something that doesn't agree w/ my skin (in my quest to find something non-MK that works).  I'm in my 20's so I don't really need the anti-aging, but I had alot of sun damage as a child/teen so it can't hurt.  I honestly don't see a difference as far as less lines/looking younger when I use TW or another good cleanser/exfoliator/moisturizer.  I have mild-moderate adult acne, and my skin is very tricky.  I just bought Proactive and I could see it clearing up even the blackheads on my nose (I think the heavy exfoliation in the cleanser really helps do that, just like whenever I used TW Microderm), but after 2-3 days my face was so dry that open cracks had formed at the sides of my nose - only Neosporin provided relief for that.  So, back to MK TW for a bit until I find something else.  I like the TW combo/oily cleanser, but yes, I agree w/ what was said earlier about it not really having any exfoliating quality.  Sometimes in the shower I wash my face w/ it and then take a wet washrag to srub it around b4 rinsing.  Or I'll mix in a dab of microderm.  Then if the acne is flaring up, I use toner #2, then the Acne Gel (but I have seen instant overnight results from using Proactive's sulfur mask as a leave-on spot treatment - works better/faster, so I use it at night now), then Day Solution for the sunscreen (is it true this product has no UVA protection??  I may switch to that new Neutrogena spf 70 with Helioplex if it's not greasy), then TW combo/oily moisturizer, then MK tinted moisturizer (I haven't had the time or money to play around w/ other brands for foundation, so I'll just use up the MK I have 1st, but I want to try minerals I keep hearing so many rave about), and I do use the MK eye primer if I'm going to do a more complicated eye look and I want it to last all day.  I have somewhat oily skin, and I sweat easily, so it doesn't dry me out and keeps it from all ending up in the crease.  But I bet many other brands would work just as well.  At night I use the Anti-aging eye cream b/c the firming one is too greasy for me and always runs into my eyes and stings like crazy.  I've given up on MK for body care stuff.  I used the Visibly Fit lotion for a month and saw nothing.  Same w/ Cellushape.  My DS's said I smelled good though.  I like Bath and Body works for body lotions/sprays/washes better.  I agree about the Savannah Bee Co. chapstick, I just got mine on sale for $2 - I got the Mint Julep one and what a dream... it really does moisturize for a long long time, it sinks in deep and isn't greasy like Satin Lips.  As for  the Satin Lip Mask - I have never seen such an overpriced gimmick.  I just wait till after my lips are soaked well in the shower, then take a washrag and scub hard.  Same effect, no cost!  Really, with young kids & a busy life, I usually only get time to wash my face and slap on some moisturizer.  I look forward to trying some Oil of Olay which has many of the benefits all in one moisturizer (forgot which one- I saw it in a commerical).  My mom however is in her mid-50's and so many people (and me) say she looks 40-45.  I saw her skin change after starting on Mk TW.  So it works for some.  My grandmother (dad's mom) had awesome soft skin and she always used Oil of Olay.  I do like how MK's eyeshadow's don't have much dustoff.  I was just given a huge load of BN Lancome GWP palattes and half that I put on ends up under my eye.  I don't like most of MK's colors though!  Lip primer worked as long as I didn't put anything over it, and it made my lips feel dry.  I did see it fill in the lines though.  Too dry and flaked off for me to purchase again.  TW targeted-action line reducer is a nice concept in theory, but it never would go down into the lines on my forehead, patting just made it end up on my finger, and when I used enough to fill in the lines it would cake up and flake off.  Even when I only applied very thinly, it would smear around making white streaks under foundation.  I traded it away on Makeup Alley.  I would like something that does what MK claims this stuff would do, if it works properly.  The OFEMR worked good, but other brands work well too (Loreal is good).  There's my 2 cents.  Have fun shopping for OTHER BRANDS (non-MLM I hope!), it's so much fun to try all the truly on-trend colors out there!  Find a MAC counter and go nuts!

I like the MK microderm, used as an occasional exfoliant.  (I have enough in sample size to last 2 years, :::sigh::smiley  I found the TW eye cream enhanced my lovely black shadows and made my eyes puffy.  The TW moisturizers for oily skin worked well for a while, but after a while my skin broke out horribly.  I now use a soft washcloth and Dove to cleanse (recommended by a friend who is a plastic surgeon) and I use plain old pure aloe gel as my moisturizer.  My skin looks better than it ever did with MK, Lancome, Elizabeth Arden, etc.  I put the aloe all over my face (eyes too) at bedtime, and then wash with a cool washcloth before makeup in the morning.
This is the simplest, most cost-efficient skin care routine I've ever had!  :goody:   I also use a UVA-UVB sunblock everyday.  The best part about this whole routine is that I can share it with friends, give them the necessary items as a gift, and not have to re-finance to do it! :bliss:

  MK products did work for me, mostly the classic basic 2.  I use the TW moisturizer and just wash my face with water.  I have really sensitive skin and get cystic acne.  I can't use any of the TW eye products they make my eyes water like crazy and I can't keep eye shadow on.  I have tried everything from Clinique to Estee Lauder to Mac and MK seems to be the only thing I can wear, including color stuff.  I can't wear any other mascara other than MK again the eyes water.  Never used to be this way.

I have tried skincare lines from the doctor and also Proactive, it dried me out way too much.  I wish I could send the MK stuff  :nuke: up in smoke, but it seems what my skin likes darn it all.
