Music is God's gift to our souls.... Play on!

« Reply #45 on: March 19, 2008, 09:55:34 PM »

Hey girls!
I'm here - just haven't been spending much computer time. I'm on round #3, I have 5 more to go. My next one is the day after my 45th birthday, it's the halfway point, so I think we will have some partying to do!! I haven't had too many problems - thankfully, no more diarrhea!! This time, I've had a little bit of nausea, but I'm confident that with pacing myself, I'll be able to get over that pretty fast. I rested today, only taught 3 piano students, rested some more, then sang in praise team practice tonight. If you know my normal pace, that's a really, really light day! Tomorrow will be better, and with Easter service coming up, I'm going to feel great!

(Just had to steri-strip my son's behind - the joys of having little boys who play in the shower, dance, sing, and get scraped by the faucet! yes, my nurse humor has remained intact. Gotta love it when you get kicked in the behind by the bathtub faucet. I have no idea how he managed that - no sharp edges, no clue!! But, he managed to forget to wash his hair or face in the 20 minute-scrubfest!)

Love to you all!!! (gotta go cuddle the 9 year old with the new vertical smile next to his original vertical smile!!)

mkmyway - If that is "pacing" yourself, sounds like you are a marathon runner!  :teehee:

Janet, I'm glad to hear that you're tolerating the chemo well.  You Go Girl!!  You've been in my thoughts a lot.  Take it easy and keep that great spirit.

I missed Easter. I'm bummed because the nausea got LOTS worse, the diarrhea kept me in bed, and I had to go to the Dr. yesterday for a bag of IV fluid. It's spring break here, and I actually wanted
1. spring.
2. break.
3. to be feeling good enough to actually enjoy it!! Yeah, I know. I want too much! I know God's laughing at my plans!!

I'm in flood-stricken St. Louis, our town was one of the hardest hit. It rained fast & hard yesterday, it's supposed to do it again today, as well as tomorrow. The weekend should be nice, but it's going to do it all over starting Monday. And the Corps of Engineers is getting ready to release a dam of water into the Mississippi to help some fish spawn..... (despite repeated attempts of our state government to get them to reconsider...)

Ah, to be a fish, to be able to swim from home to home, checking the ambience for mating...
(Tongue firmly planted in cheek!) :nutzo:

THankfully, my house will be safe, but we have friends who are trying to reopen businesses, homes that are beyond destroyed, and a town that needs prayer and no more rain/floodwater!

I will be fine, I keep plugging along, getting one day closer to cure each morning. Thanks for all of your prayers, please keep Pacific & Eureka, MO in your prayers that we don't get more water than we can handle!

Love to all of you!

Mmmm you may have a picc line.....especially with the chemo eh? Either way I hope it helped and perked you up a bit....how are the rest of the family holding out? You still seem to be strongly held together! I truely admire your strength!

I'm really sorry to hear that your town was hit very badly by floods....prayers are coming out to your town.....send the rain on to us....we kinda need it right now!

Thanks ladies! You always make me smile! wink
The last week has been better, we figured out that I was having some drug interactions, and I think we have it fixed now. No more nausea!! The town is doing okay, even though we've had a TON of rain. (I'd be happy to send it anywhere in the world right now!!)

My next treatment is on Tuesday, and I really hope I can have a good week. The kids had a semi-working school week this week, but we took time off to do some things together. I really want to get back into the swing of school and be able to work with the kids together on some things. We started computer programming and art this week, so that's been exciting for my 14 year old. My only thing that's bugging me right now is that my eyebrows are starting to fall out!!!
 :nope:

Ah well, this too shall pass. I have a good friend who is getting chemo at the same time as I am at the same oncologist - we should be finished the same week, we're having the same surgery by the same surgeon at about the same time, and we'll both be having radiation at about the same time. Strange, yet comforting for both of us. I really enjoy spending time with her, but I don't think either one of us wanted it to be for this reason!!

I think of you folks here frequently (I should get on here and post more!!) and you always bring a smile to my heart!!
Love y'all!!

You are truly an inspiration to all who read your messages - so funny, strong, positive and loving!  It is evident that God is giving you courage to get through your battle with cancer.  How wonderful that you have children around you to give you humor and more strength to get through this ordeal.  It's great that you have another cancer patient with whom you have lots in common.  That's another angel to help you through.  God Bless.  You are in my prayers and thoughts, and I will pray for no more flooding too.
Love,

You are such an inspiration.

My sweet MIL was just diagnosed this week...  She only has one cancerous lump, and they will be doing surgery on Thursday to see if it spread to the lymph nodes, and to take that one out.

I reread your posts this week and they gave me such peace.  I am thinking of you often and praying for you.
