Okay... You asked for it!

There's this phenomenon in my church called "Church Ball." I honestly don't know if other religions have organized sports--at least as well, bad as ours can be.
We're taught to be Christlike and to serve others but awful nastiness comes out in church ball--basketball especially. The language, violence... It's almost funny in a sad sort of way because the idea behind playing sports like this is one to draw closer to each other as brothers and sisters (not co-ed, though). We can have tournaments set up like high school/college tournaments. People can actually leave the church over games/tournaments won or lost or bad officiating by volunteers who don't know what they're doing and think they do or who play favorites...
It's not a pretty sight when the worst of a person's character comes out playing sports (think irate soccer/hockey parent only add to it a hundred times)...

Anyway... This is where I've played my sports over the years. LDS Church sponsored sports have been the only chance I've had over the years in playing. I was too chicken to try out for volleyball or basketball in junior high and high school (well, actually I tried out for basketball in 8th grade but didn't get past the first cut. I was, however, a manager that year...).
So, yeah. Church sports, especially basketball tend to get a little...um, aggressive? overly competitive? Two years ago last month, I had what was supposed to be arthroscopic surgery on my shoulder.
Neither x-rays or a CT exam showed anything was wrong but
I knew that something was wrong--and had been for eight years. I'd done the physical therapy multiple times. My shoulder had gotten to the point where I couldn't lift my arm past my elbow. Fortunately for me, the surgeon trusted my instincts with my body, even though he was a new surgeon (to me).
When he stuck the scope into my shoulder, he found three different problems. Not only did I have a torn rotator cuff and torn cartilage, but two separate pieces of bone had broken off my shoulder. So I have a pretty (ugly) scar on my right shoulder to match the one where my pacemaker was put in because he had to open me up to fix all the damage. Why? Church basketball. Eight years prior to my surgery, I had taken an...unnecessary?... elbow to my shoulder and was fouled while defending the basket during a regional basket ball tournament ten years ago. That's why I play volleyball now--not so dangerous.

The moral of the story--at least for me and my surgeon--is that you can't trust the tests!!!!!
Same thing happened with my knee scope (more damage than shown) this February as well!!! Same surgeon, same results...
Oh yeah. I've done those injections in my shoulder and in my ankle...

I'm not sure my story can help you... Just know that I
totally understand your frustration and pain...
