Glad to know her treatment is going well and yes good doctors make a world of difference. I am happy to have found a great doctor since we recently moved to a new city. Sounds like you've found a great way to motivate your daughter.
Just to encourgage you... my nephew had to wear a patch when he was your little girl's age. He too was injured during birth somehow. His mom had to have an emergency C-section because he was coming face first instead of head first. We noticed something wasn't right with one of his eyes. It wouldn't really move at first and then later it started to move the opposite direction. He had to wear a patch over the good eye to strengthen the bad eye. Now he is 26 and in the Airforce, married with a child of his own. He's doing super and hardly remembers wearing the patch.
Keep doing what you're doing. I agree with TUP. You sound like a great mom.

I can only imagine what she is going through.
I had to wear a patch when I was younger, but that was due to an injury. Even that short time was hell for me.

Okay, she had her appointment today, and she got new lenses--which are bifocals. The patch is working--she can see 20/30 with her glasses! She is still going to wear the patch this next month--but it is working. She went from legally blind (with glasses) to almost normal (with glasses) in four weeks! Of course I've spent a lot on bribery--haha. She is also trying hard to decide now if she's going to be a ballerina or a pirate when she grows up:) Thanks for your prayers and kind thoughts. This is why I love online friends so much. I only have one friend I see in person who's been through this, so it's nice to be able to share my feelings and fears with a diverse group of women. Thanks again!

Thanks for the update, littlegirl! I am so glad to hear your daughter's vision has improved, and hopefully it will only get better from here. And if I were her, I would choose to be a pirate because as they say, "Yo ho, yo ho a pirate's life for me!"

Hi littlegirl. I'm glad to hear about your daughter's progress. I too had to wear a patch when I was young. It can only get better with time. My prayers are with you and yours.

It really was suprising how much she improved. The nurse that did her initial test ran out of the room to get the doctor, and after the doctor tested her, she showed us the results, and we all clapped. Which is funny, I hadn't thought of it till now, but there is a family in my church that claps when one of their prayers is answered.
And I would pick Pirate, too, because it doesn't take as much practise as being a ballerina, and I'm pigeon-toed:)

Yep, being a Pirate would be easier!! My niece wanted to be a princess when she grew up, but then told me she had a problem -- since Mommy wasn't a queen and Daddy wasn't a king and they didn't live in a castle, she didn't think she could be a princess!! I am so happy to hear how her vision has improved in such a short time -- I will continue to pray for her that it keeps getting better! Love Love Love Love Love Love Love

Oh my goodness--you guys probably think I dropped off the face of the earth. Actually, I've just been crazy busy. my son was in the hospital for a while (he's fine now) I wanted to update you on my daughter. She is great about wearing her patch still, but her vision had a little slip backwards. Her next appointment is this coming week, and I'm hoping that it will at least remain stable. It's hard, because at her age, she has a hard time with the vision tests. I think she might have dyslexia like me, so the nurses do the same charts over and over. Then My girl gets frustrated and bored. Then she gives up. So please say a prayer or think a kind thought for my little one. Thanks!
