A cloudy day is no match for a sunny disposition.

Thanks for the positive thoughts everybody!  She has a really positive attitude and I think that counts for a lot when you are fighting a battle against cancer or any disease forthat matter.

She got her disability both from Soc Security and from her job as a teacher and that went through within a matter of weeks, since her doctor said she was terminal and incurable...but we never KNOW for sure how much time we have, so for now she keeps on and we are happy for every day!  Love

Yes, keeping up the positive energy helps!   :hearts to your friend.

My Grandma was on hospice 3 separate times, 2 x's back to back, then off for a year, then back on, and off again.  They said she had less than 6 months and she lived 2 1/2 years more!  She had such great energy.  I will never forget, when she was about 86 years spry, a neighbor passed who was 92.  She kept asking WHAT was wrong with him, I didn't know his medical condition and I told her he was 92, but that was NOT sufficient, so finally I told her he had a heart attack.  The fact that he was 92 was NOT a reason (in her mind - and she was clear at that point) to pass, there HAD to be a reason!

Your Grandma sounds like she was quite feisty!  I think those that don't just sit and think about how old they are and everything they can't do and just get up and go live a lot longer life!!!  I bet she didn't complain about anything either did she?...Unless somebody told her she COULDN'T do what she wanted!!! LOL

Lipstick - you are so right!  She always told you straight, whether you'd like it or not, and always found the "good" in a situation - well, except for weather or politics!   :teehee:  I don't think anyone ever told Granny she couldn't do something - I don't think any of us were that brave!   :laugh3:

:chocdnce:  (I'd toast her with a  Margarita but she never drank or drove anything other than a tractor!)

Tam, it sounds like she was a good lady..."the salt of the earth".  I'm sure you miss her, but it's nice to keep our loved ones alive in our memories  Love

Oh Tam, I would take that as a sign that your Grandma is watching over your son and you (2 hummingbirds)...aren't they the most delightful birds?

DH & I went to a lunchtime gathering at our church for 50+ and we had a guest speaker that had slides and told us so much info about hummingbirds.  It was the most interesting talk I have ever been to!
They are fascinating and for their size (2 in. long and weighing 1/10 of an oz.) they are very hardy!

Wow, some wonderful stories in this thread. I love stories like this but they make me emotional. I guess because it's so real. It's what life is really about.

Your Granny does sound like one tough lady!!  :hearts

Update on my good friend Nancy!   She and her DH came bakc from their trip to Alaska and had a wonderful time.  One of the side trips they took was a whale watching excursion and they were able to see humpbacks as well as 6 Orcas, which theysay are not usually found in those waters.

It is so unusual the tour boat set anchor so all of their crew could come see the Orcas as well!

Nancy had good health for their trip, came back and had another chemo treatment after none for 4 weeks so she could be feeling food for the trip.

Her scan in early June showed the lesion on her liver had shrunk by 47%,

She came back from Alaska and had a chemo treatment on 8/4 followed by a yucky week since she had not had chem o for 4 weeks. Last Thursday
she had another scan this time from her neck down to her knees.  Got the results back today and her tumor has shrunk another 50%!

She was to have chemo today but will have to wait a week since her platelet count was too low, but her Doc has said she is going to start talking to surgeons about possibly removing what cancer is showing.
Also the scan revealed no signs of cancer elswhere in her body!

Nancy thanks everyone for the positive thoughts, love and prayers on her behalf.  We are so happy with the results.....we're dancing on air!

:thank: :hearts :hearts :hearts  :ty:  :hearts :hearts :hearts  yourock
